The RAYs in MGS2 on Extreme and up are ridiculously difficult. You have to learn their attack patterns and quick swap weapons often. It’s tough stuff. I’m kind of surprised that it didn’t make it on this list.
I am proud that I beat MGS2 on Extreme, I also heard that this is the hardest MGS game on that difficulty. For me personally the hardest thing in the game was Vamp boss fight and I only beat him, cuz I looked up on the internet that you can trick him by hanging on the ledge. As a MGS3 fan boy , I want to say the fury is the hardest boss. Almost made me rage quit on hardest difficulty. Okay I’ll admit if you don’t know what you are doing and go in blind, the end can be the hardest boss. I’ll say personally, the fury is my most difficult boss.
I agree. I played MGS3 on hard many years ago, but I vaguely remember the fury giving me the most game overs. Personally, I think the end is just more of a tedious fight unless you cheese him and kill him earlier on after that cutscene when he's in the wheelchair.
I beat MGS 2 on Extreme while reading on the Internet that this is the hardest MGS game on that difficulty. Some of the fight there are really ridiculously hard like the hardest for me was Vamp boss fight and I only beat him, because I tricked him by hanging on the ledge. Another absurd thing was the choke scene where you had to tap the button like you are the fap champion of the country.
Sniper SKULLs and Armor SKULLs were harder than Sahelantropus tbh, Sahelantropus was just a giant walking target with easily telegraphed attacks, whereas the snipers could easily one-shot you and the armored skulls were quick and cruel in their attack patterns.
As soon as they give you the Katana in that big over head room thats all you use and you can get used to it there. its a simple part of the game that will let you get used to the katana before your final fight with it.
Liquid Ocelot in MGS4 is the hardest by all means. Every other boss gives you options or different angles, Ocelot doesn't and it's hard because it's a completely new game mode and add to that the fight has multiple stages with different movesets and damage amount. First time I think it took me around 10 tries to beat him in normal difficulty, every other boss was a first try success
I love MGS sooo much. It is still my favorite game series of all time. That being said, the dialogue with the bosses sound like they are at the DMV complaining about their day and you are the poor soul stuck listening.
Honestly don't agree with most of the choices on this list except MGS4 and MGS5. MGS1 its very much Psycho Mantis as without the switching controller ports trick, its almost impossible to fight and even Sniper Wolf was more difficult for me than Ray. MGS2 I can never remember her name, but the woman who bent bullets away from her gave me way more trouble than Solidus did. MGS3 The Boss made The End look like a chump, anyone that used stealth throughout the game (as you are supposed to in these titles) could easily use the systems to hide and avoid him. MGS4 could honestly be a toss up and pretty much any boss was challenging but I'd agree with the choice you made. And MGS5 just didn't have the level of boss fights overall to give many options overall. And Peacewalker was just difficult as a whole
The funny thing about facing The End in MGS3 is that you can beat him 2 other ways. Getting the SVD and sniping him after the cutscene at the docks or changing the system date up a year so he dies of old age. You also should've included MGS The Twin Snakes and MGS Portable Ops as honorable mentions
