you ever play runescape once upon a time? you like runecrafting?
@@Fivestar5000 lmao yeah, I still play OSRS sometimes =p
My unity takes 10mins to open
😂😂😂
One time, mine took 30 minutes to open
1 hour in 4gb ram
Cuz it's very buggy and slow. Unity used to crash 24/7 on 2019 and 2020 and 2021
Yes, and it reminds me when as a kid I used to load a tape on my Commodore 64. It's honestly embarassing it happens in 21st century!
I swear 5 min vids like this teach me so much more than 4 years of my game design course.. So much value
Not even close. This is the first 5 minutes of class.
In my 2nd year and I gotta agree, but this is just game development, and we go through all this in literally like 20 mins then move on to the next topic. Thats why im watching this vid rn
@@thepsychicpeach8425 this does not sound like a good program. There are not many. You know what, you guys are right. Most programs are taught by amateurs who have not watched these RUclips videos.
This blew me away. I thought it would just be a timelapse but this was actually real time and super dense with useful tips. Love it.
The idea is to show every part of how I build up the world without skipping any steps, but there are parts where I obviously speed up the texturing/terrain painting from real-time
Okay that was actually an amazing video. Straight to the point, quick and simple, easy to follow, lots of experience in a few minutes, very well done
i agree

that was kind of random

I've been using unity for 2 years. And I didn't even you could displace trees like this amazing tutorial

Hell, even after 5 or 10 years or 50+ years you'll still discover stuff and learn new things: Unity is a huge product built by thousands of devs at more than one company (yep, they collab with other companies and adopt 3rd party tech), so don't feel bad! I've been in the industry for nigh on 17 years and I think I still spend most of my "free" time learning new stuff -- lately it's been a lot of SideFx Houdini + Unity integration and procedural content stuff ...
Unity is full of rich secrets ... for example, did you know that tags and layers are actually _very_ powerful and kind of necessary for big games? A tag doesn't have to be a simple string, they can be nested/grouped. You simply use the "/" char to make sub-categories like:
"Car/Engine", "Car/Wheels", "Car/Chassis", "Car/Default" ... or "Gun/Magazine" and "Gun/Optics" and so forth ...
Also, you can duplicate an object say 100 times and you have 100 copies all in exactly the same position, right? You can spread them out with "placement expressions" right in the transform X, Y, Z fields in inspectors! It supports spacing/spreading them out, even stuff like math equations ... so you can use trigonometry and place objects with a sine wave 〰️ ... duplicate a bunch of cubes or spheres and try writing R(0, 10) or L(0, 5) into a field for an X, Y or Z value 😮
Of every tutorial I’ve ever taken for every game engine, I’ve only been able to follow yours to completion. Too many tutorials get too complicated. You kept it short sweet and to the point. I appreciate that! Earned a sub from this girl here! On to the next!
out of all the tutorials on terrain i've seen this one is the best for simplicity and speed
Wow you’ve done what 5 hour tutorials do in 5 mins, this is so helpful 👏
holy shit, finally a tutorial that is actually good and straight to the point. glad I found you because I've been struggling so hard with this step but all the tutorials I found were so unnecessary bloated. keep it up!
This was an absolutely incredible video! You deserve so much more subs!
bro i cant believe you havent blown up, this is one of if not the MOST helpful and straight to the point tutorial ive ever seen
Just starting this channel out! Will definitely be posting a lot more tutorials in the coming weeks
Exactly, one of the best, most no-nonsense, straight to the point videos I've seen
@@spaderdabomb dropping a comment to say I liked the vid, and you got a sub from me by it...looking forward to future content...Keep creating...~~Just me, RD
Great video I spent 2 days trying to find out how to do stuff since i'm new to unity and this is the only one i understood and its not boring like almost every other video.
Normally, it would have taken me a YEAR to build a scene like this. No one else explains it so well. Usually, when I click and drag any kind of terrain height, I get mountains that go to the clouds and I have to fix each one to look natural.
Exactly why I made this tutorial, terrain manipulation is often taught/learned wrong. Taking a coarse pass then finer passes tends to produce much better terrain :)
Super amazing tutorial man, I am new to 3d environments and didn't know where to start but now I do, thanks to u
This is a game changer, I was manually putting individual tiles object until I chanced upon this!
Very nice! I've been using Procedural Worlds Gaia for a new project. I didn't realise there was so much already built in to Unity.
literally the best tutorial ive ever seen!
Very cool tutorial, would be great to add a little variance to the prefabs when placing (rotation, size etc). Going to give this a go thanks!
Dude this is hands down the best tuorial I've watched!
Dayum, so many tips in so little time! Keep up the good work! 😊
this was suprisingly a lot easier than i thought
That was awesome! Thank you very much!
Damn, nice formatting! I had the info I needed at 1:20, no time wasted on redundant info - great video!
That was awesome! Thank you. So well done. A great way to start the game dev learning journey.
Hit subscribe two minutes in. This is a freaking amazing format
Man......Your work is awesome. I Loved the tutorial. Many Unity teachers make us lose time...yo go strait to the point...Tks bro...
Great tutorial, thank you!
wow, you're a hidden gem dude
Thank you for making such a easy to follow video!
Tis helped me out a lot.
Very cool. Thanks for the tut.
Was trying to get into unity development and this helped me grasp lots of great concepts! I'm so far away from being able to make a full game but I'm now building a world that's moon themed. Really good video.
Awesome! Building games is extremely hard, don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Worth it though!
U saved my life bro, thanks a lot!
bro modular first person controller is a time saver thanks for the info
Took me 48 minutes, but I got it! thank you!
Amazing work! Thank you for sharing.
This was spectacular dude. Wow. You simplified so much for me just now in 5 mins
Impressive 🔥
Thank you!
this is crazy simple and good!
holly you just saved me so much time
Thank you for this. I have been waiting for a lowpoly tutorial that uses dimple assets. Will be using this to create my new world
That low poly nature pack is awesome for getting open world projects started, GL!
Thanks. I'm just beginning to use this software and have never done graphic arts before. At least, I can review this over and over to learn how you did it. Thanks again.
amaging work bro, Really helpful video
i saw this video and thought hey this could help me make my game and honestly, it has so far but i am still learning the brush to get the first zone good i dont know if i will do it where it is more flatter and less hills or more hills but thank you for this video it has helped me
It was interesting to see how everything came together. On the other hand following your steps was almost impossible. Never in my life have I ever needed another person watching the same video over & over to explain where and what to click and still being as confused and lost. A few times you would say one thing but on the program it would show something else. Remind me never to ask you for directions. 😂😂
omg???? THANK YOU!!! I hate building terrain since it always felt so hard, now thanks to you, I have everything in like one hour (yeah I do still play a bit with it but it is way easier) and also the player controller saved me a lot of work. Thanks!
np =)
Society would be so advanced if every tutorial was like this
Amazing tutorial! Ty soo much
Thank you very much!
Great video, love it.
For all people that feel throw the terrain when start playing, just remove the firstpersoncontroller und add it again. it will work then
I’m officially teasing part 2 of this tutorial series! What do you guys want me to cover in future videos?
Occlusion Culling :)
how to make grass move when touch.....will be helpful:)
water!! i guess, its one of the most important features.
@@dunko302 part 2 is out and I included water! check the channel =p
Thank you for the video man.
Amazing video! helped me a lot to make a game. thanks a lot and much support..
This was awesome!
This was really nice, best tutorial I have found thanks.
Thanks a lot, beginner, you help me a lot ;) Great work.
Bro this a one of if not the easiest and most beautiful tutorials I have ever seen! Earned a sub
this is gonna help me make my MMORPG
i love this video! very helpful for me, because i don’t make games that look like this. i make retro 2.5D games. i wanna make a game using this tutorial, but id feel like an imposter because i didn’t model my own stuff
Omg subscribed, time to start using unity
Amazing! This asset pack is for those who wants to create an anime style game
Yo guys! If your trees are hanging above the ground, DONT PICK THE PT_Pine_Tree_03_green_Cut BUT THE PT_Pine_Tree_green !!!
It's probably a mistake in the video, as the cut tree is probably used when importing harvesting mechanics.
Peace !
Thank you man, hope you don't mind if I specifically mention you in part 3 when we fix this =)
@@spaderdabomb holy crap I did not see your answer ! Dude I'm IN THE VIDEO I LOVE IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
not sure what yall believe in just wanted yall to know Jesus loves yall if yall did not already know that come to Christ repent non denominational
The best use for this asset pack Is using bloom post processing you will have totally different result since the rocks and trees has an emission which seems to be more cool like a fantasy effect
Great tip, I’ll have to play around with that!
That was amazing
thank you 🤜🤛👌
love the of the trees beanie
My favorite comment ❤️
Cool quick vid bro
Ahhh, thank you! I was looking for just this. I love the way you explain things, so easy to follow. Please make more! 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Part 2 dropping today!
I genuinly beleived that the terrain tool only gives bad results, this video changed my mind
Instantly subbed. This format is gold.
Subbed! Thankyou so much 🤘😁
That was some condesend content my sir, took me some time to understand and do everything but I finished
Amazing
Im speechless defo gonna watch this 1000000 times and add it to my game thanks A LOT
Amazing.
love it😀
best video ever!!!
i'll never do it but it was nice to see
This was awesome, I've always wanted to start learning unity and this is a great place to start. One question, my trees are floating slightly above the grass (trunks aren't touching the ground) How do I lower them to ground level?
Will cover this in tree next video. A few things u can try tho. There is a random spread on the tree height in the tree settings, try turning that spread down and play with the tree height. You can also try adding a capsule collider to the tree prefab and adjust it as necessary. If none of that works, you can try going into the prefab and translating the LOD groups down a bit
I changed from pine cut to regular pines and other trees, fixed it for me
great video
that was too good
Wow!
Never knew outro also exist!
Thank you for a very nicely done tutorial. I have some issues with painting the grass, it looks like "camouflage" like I cannot paint everywhere. When playing the game there are spots where there is no grass. I set the density up maybe a new option for the version of unity I'm using? But still looks a bit odd. Any thoughts?
My only suggestions are turn the detail density up for the grass and increase your brush strength/opacity in the brush settings. If those don’t work, feel free to join my discord in the description and send a screenshot there. Then I can help a bit more.
Hello. How you doing? I had the same "issue". When creating a new brush for the grass, make sure to change the "Detail density" to 5. Originally, it's only 0.1 and it looks really off. Hope that was your problem!
Holy shit this is so good ..
Very helpful video, Waiting for more tutorials, Good Job!🙂
this was an awesome video! I got stuck on the grass though, when I place the grass on the ground, it paints each individual clump of grass, rather then the field of grass in your video. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
Make sure in your grass settings you turn up your detail density (the higher the less clumpy). You could also try increasing brush strength if that doesn’t work.
bro this is madd cool, danggggggg im amazed
imma start making my own soon
Thank you. Can you make more short videos like this please?
For sure! Working on some now =)
Subbed
cool video)
Thank you. Very easy to follow. Will be getting my students to do this one
good stuff
I’ve been using unity for half a decade and I’ve never used the mass displace trees button
When i add the rocks, the size of it is very small compared to the one shown in the video. Is it due to the size of the prefab before adding it on to the terrain?
Yes, just change the scale in the prefab. I think I changed my scale to 5 in the video.
This is awesome dude!
Do you know any good tutorial for starting Unity to a level where I can be familiar with theese concepts?
Thank you very much!
I covered a ton of ground here! Some of the topics you can look further into are shaders and shader graph (I have a tutorial on my channel), LOD groups, meshes/billboards/imposters, texturing (triplanar texturing for more advanced topic), skyboxes, post processing, and environmental volumes.
Also look out for part 2 of this tutorial series soon!
Nice Video! can you maby make a tutorial how to make this prosidual?
Procedural is tough but a few months I learned how to make a world using proc gen. Planning it for a future video actually, I would say its planned to release ~3 videos from now
Looks like this pack isn't URP capable, as I tried converting the trees to URP using the render pipeline converters and they're still pink. Still, with the right asset pack, this tutorial is awesome. Thanks man!
Edit: The asset store actually says it supports URP. Not sure what's going on, but I'll toy around with it.
The URP converter doesn't work because there's custom shaders, HOWEVER, the pack comes with a URP converter that you need to use. Find the folder inside the assets named "SRP" (for scriptable render pipeline) and double click the unitypackage inside to install for URP
@@spaderdabomb look at this guy, just casually being the GOAT. Thank you sir!
