“In 2016 King Gizzard released this, Nonagon Infinity! Their most accomplished album! I think their undisputed masterpiece is Gamma Knife, a song so catchy, most probably don’t even listen to the lyrics, but they should! Because it’s not just about experimental cancer treatment using radiation, and summoning people vultures through satanic ritual to bring about the apocalypse, it’s also a personal statement about the band itself! Hey Paul!”
I accidentally stuck in the elevator yesterday. I pushed the emergency button several times, but nobody answered. Then Nonagon Infinity opened the door

Love everything about this, I see the influence of: Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain, Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii, Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance. Such a beautiful video.
I see Roger Corman's movie: The Masque of the Red Death, the end where all of the hooded figures representing major diseases are walking through the countryside.
I will never in my life forget the day I discovered this band. Was on a working holiday 2016 in Kalbar, Queensland and we had our farewell party at our hosts' house. Woke up hungover as fuck in the same bed as my fellow beetroot picker from Germany and this video started playing on the telly. We just looked at each other and said what is this crazy magical music? Ever since then King Gizzard has been my favourite band. Will finally see them live in Aug 2023!
My friend had to have gamma knife surgery on his brain for melanoma metastasis. It didn't work, he died but before he did we tripped and wished we'd been in a rocking psychedelic band like KG & LW.
im 20 years old but last year the doctors found a mass in my brain. they said the best cure for it is the gamma knife procedure. im getting it done this Friday but it's some SAW level torture device shit on my brain, and i had to sell tickets to a metal band i wanted to see this Saturday. all i wanted was my youth. wish me luck
This song was on our playlist on internal comms in the MAXXPRO rolling through Mosul during the ISIS fight. 5 years later, and I'm seeing the music video for the first time. This is even crazier than I imagined. Love it.
a few more years for me to get a little older and go to australia to see giz liz wiz, tame impala, violent soho, hiatus kaiyote and more. Australia never cease to amaze me with the music that's been put out. Legends!
The Great King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - the hardest working band in Australia - These lads are as good in a psychedelic punk pop way as the The Damned were in '78 with the " Smash it up" video great stuff - the stars and the universe were aligned and maybe Hawkwind were having a cup of tea and a biscuit when they watched this marvelous garage rock tune! Rock on,, and good vibes from The People's Republic of North Coburg! PJA Flanagan!
Played these guys for my friends back in 2014, they were diggin' it, two years later they're stunned at how much music, and great music, they release each year. From the relentless power on "Mind Fuzz", to the Latin Jazz sounds on "Quarters", to the laid back psych tunes on "Paper Mache Dream Balloon", these guys have been killing it. And now this track from the infinite looping "Nonagon Infinity". I cannot get enough of these dudes.
Some authentic looking cloister hoods. This makes me think, how cool it would be if a band with two drummers and the other members of the band too, were set up on separate moving portions of a stage, that would slowly turn them all around. Sometimes they’d face the inside of the stage, sometime away from the stage... I just think that might put an old carnival ride to good use, since the rig could be a repurposed carnival ride. And the little rockets or saucers or cars or whatever people used to get into on the ride could be used as stage ornaments, so the whole setup could be recycled and put to new use.
I love these groovy ass tunes! They kinda remind me of a more psychedelic Led Zeppelin. The hard rock sound combined with the harmonica is very reminiscent of Zeppelin. A lot of people are comparing thier music with Ty Segall. Although I dig Ty I really think King Gizzard is in a realm of their own. I hear much more variation between thier songs and they have a very distinctive sound that is very unique. With Ty I admire the passion and the music is great, but there seems to be a few too many garage rock bands that sound nearly identical. No disrespect to Ty Segall, I love his music. King Gizzard embraces several different styles of music all while sticking to thier roots. They swing from genre to genre and maintain the same sound people love them for. Some people talked shit about Paper Mache for being too soft. I think people felt they were selling out by releasing more accessible music. I've always had a problem with the whole "sellout" standpoint. While I agree it's disgusting when musicians embrace trendy fashion styles and genres of music entirely for the financial benefit. I think a lot of people mistake the former with a band changing styles for the sake of exploration. Paper Mache was a beautiful and genuine album obviously made by passionate musicians that were just exploring different styles of music. The transformation from the relaxing psych folk of Paper Mache to the high energy level of this album is amazing. Both hit the nail on the head. I'm excited about what path they decide upon next. Without a doubt they as well as dozens of other bands prove rock is far from dead. I'd venture to say it's just as alive as its ever been. We're living in an age where gems like this and all the classics that inspired them can be listened to with your phone, laptop, and your TV. The means of finding music has become so much easier and musicians can find an audience with much more ease. The amount of music made available is so huge it can even seem somewhat overwhelming when searching for tunes. Everybody falls victim to nostalgia, and with the current state of the top 40 people lose hope too fast. Not to mention the top 40 has always been redicolous. I have no idea why I felt the need to write a book. I'm probably just talking to the wind lol
