5:00 this is the best tip for getting more air. The stunned look on newbs faces I've seen after giving them this tip is priceless. They get launched the first time and use the old air swim technique to salvage the landing, usually ending in an epic crash.
A thing that was a game changer for my stability was keeping the handle lower at your center of gravity - closer to your waist. JB does this naturally, even pushing his hands out in front of his knees when they come up. My hands were out in front closer to my shoulders and the rope was pulling me unevenly so I would try to compensate either way and would only get it right a fraction of my attempts. Hands low makes it so consistent and effortless. One less thing to think about if this can get trained into memory.
Nice man! A wake jump is the start of a solid foundation to build other tricks. Gonna have to go back and spend a little time getting back to the basics next time I make it out after watching this.
Jb thank you so much for making this video. I have been trying to do this on my boat for ages and this is so helpful! You have helped me get so much better at wakeboarding! Thanks my guy
Hi JB nice video and on the last video I commented I had to rent a to board to you said OWC no I rent at Nona Adventure Park but now I'm going to have to rent a shark because on June 13th for the flo grown
Thanks I'm just getting ready for summer in nz or just for the lake to be open in genrel I tried last year but I only learnt how to get up at that stage
thank you i. gonna try this as soon as we cam go wakeboarding i started last summee and rhe first time i was in the water i standed up but i fell very quick the second time i tried again i nailed it and i just standed like 5 seconds and then i already went off the wake i was soo happy i really think i wanna get very good at this and i wanna make flips i love wakeboarding
hey, jb i've today i actually got the switch 360 to blind, thx for the vid, but another one I want to learn is a cab five, I'm having trouble ollie 180 on to the flat box, idk if there's a vid but yh :)
Been trying to learn the wake to wake for about a year now and I just can’t seem to get it in my head to extend my legs at the tip of the wake to get that pop it’s like a force of habit lol I always end up landing on the tip of the second wake 😅
Heyy so I will be wake boarding for the first time this weekend do you think you could do a video on basics for very beginners, I couldn’t find any also maybe some beginner tricks? Thanks!
@@jboneill Thanks it helped!! I'm getting there. Do you exercise daily, like go to the gym? If so, what exercises do you do, or do you just wakeboard every day? Probably a bit of a weird question.
What is the big difference between the wishbone and the Union? Im about to buy one of them but I‘m not sure which one I should go with. Wishbone is a bit stiffer?! What else? Thank you!:)
Yo JB, could you do a video on Hyperlite’s 2020 handle & line review? Here is a copy n paste off they’re website: Hyperlite's new SG handle is a Pro Level Handle with a sublimated Stitched Grip including new lightweight endcaps. SG Handle Packages include our 80' A-Line, 70' X-Line or our 65' Fuse Line. Also new for 2020 is the SG T-Handle Grip package with our X-Line for a total length of 75'. SG may also reference Sticky Grip or Soft Grip, either way our new SG Packages deliver a Solid Grip. Ask Hyperlite to give you all the types, test them out and review as to what each type was created for. I do t see any videos yet to explain the various types thx an advanced 🤙🏼
Next week I will try boat wakeboarding for the first time. Everyone on the ship is a novice. What speed is better? as you said in the video, the rope at 65 or 70 feet, is that correct? I will send you a video of the result 🏄🏻♂️
Just so there’s more distance between the wakes, allows you to carry more speed without overshooting which can help you get more pop. I usually ride 75 feet

I have a heel side 540 video on my channel, which would work for the cab 5
@@jboneill ok thx
Thanks a lot bro, we waited this video so much!
Hope you get it!!!!
Whats up JB. More boat videos please
More to come!
Do you need to pop hard like a jump or do you just slowly extend? Awesome video!
Depends on how high you want to go lol
Alr so I can go wake to wake easy, in the park my best trick is a back 3 off pretty much anything, what tricks should I start with behind the boat?
maybe some flips, tantrum or backroll
I was wondering why I kept slowing down before I cut thank you
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for the video I’ve been trying to get across. This will help so much
get itttt!!!

edgeeee
Great videos like allways 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks bro!!
Basic air tricks behind the boat would be awesome. Railey, back roll and maybe S-bend. I know you showed some for the cable.
I will do them
Any guidance on angle of approach to the wake. See some are more perpendicular to direction of boat some less so. Does it affect pop at all?
its mainly just personal preference, you will have to play around to see what you like
Super cute how he’s walking around and talking with his hands while explaining everything
Hahahaha
Heyy so I will be wake boarding for the first time this weekend do you think you could do a video on basics for very beginners, I couldn’t find any also maybe some beginner tricks? Thanks!
Yeah I can try and get that done soon
JB ONeill thank you so much !
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for the help
:))) i got you!
Thank you! It really help me
Anytime man!!
Hi JB, do you recommend removing the fins on my board to jump the wake or keeping them on?
Keeping them on
@@jboneill Thanks it helped!! I'm getting there. Do you exercise daily, like go to the gym? If so, what exercises do you do, or do you just wakeboard every day? Probably a bit of a weird question.
Thanks so much for the video!! I continually land with too much slack in the rope and then when boat catches up to me it rips me forward.. Any tips??
dont pull so much id guess
@@jboneill Thanks JB!
needed this. THANK YOU

thankss bro great video!!
thanks for watching!!
This is going to help a lot
Hope so :)))
Is there a good way to bail if you realize you might case or go to far
Butt check
Good tutorial! What board do u ride behind the boat?
Thank you! 139 Hyperlite Murray
What is your opinion on having fins on the board?
Umm ride with fins on boat and no fins on cable
U don’t need to respond JB but I want u too see this if u can I absolutely love ur vids and also I think u should do a collab with david oc
thanks so much! david oc doesnt wakeboard anymore. he does car reviews
Another thing, my father has a RIVA ARISTON and I would like to know if it is a good boat for wakeboarding ???
I have never heard of it
What speed should the boat be running? Thanks
Depends on the boat and rope length
What is the big difference between the wishbone and the Union? Im about to buy one of them but I‘m not sure which one I should go with. Wishbone is a bit stiffer?! What else?
Thank you!:)
The graphic is the difference lol
@@jboneill made my day XD but seriously... is there no more big difference? Union cost 100 less
I’m not very picky but I honestly can’t tell the difference
Yo JB, could you do a video on Hyperlite’s 2020 handle & line review? Here is a copy n paste off they’re website:
Hyperlite's new SG handle is a Pro Level Handle with a sublimated Stitched Grip including new lightweight endcaps.
I will ask and see if they are interested
How long does it usually take to master the jump
depends on how committed you are, I have seen people do it on the first day and people after a year!
Next week I will try boat wakeboarding for the first time. Everyone on the ship is a novice. What speed is better? as you said in the video, the rope at 65 or 70 feet, is that correct?
I will send you a video of the result 🏄🏻♂️
Probably 60 or 65, maybe 22 or 22 mph
21 or 22
What do I do if my jump is short, and I don’t land out of the wake on the other side?
carry more speed
Ok! Thanks so much!!❤️❤️❤️
What’s the benefit of riding a longer rope? I currently ride 65 feet.
Just so there’s more distance between the wakes, allows you to carry more speed without overshooting which can help you get more pop. I usually ride 75 feet
JB ONeill oh that makes sense, so to dumb it down, longer rope could get me more pop but shorter rope I can go further towards the flats?
Kinda I guess, all the young kids ride short, but guys like Randall Harris who go mega huge ride long
Personal preference I guess
I do everything outlined here, get 2 feet of air and make it 2/3 of the way to the opposite wake... every time :(
Follow that edge all the way through 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Send me your attempts on insta
Union or wishbone? I can’t choose.
Both?
JB ONeill I wish I could!
I want to try this but I’m scared of the crash. Before watching this I tried to jump the wake but I ended up face planting.
You got it!!
What’s a good speed?
depends on your rope length and boat. maybe 21mph at 65 feet is a good guess
How fast for a begginer with a 60 foot rope?
Depends, maybe 20mph would be a good starting point
Mons sending bigggg
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Bro! I just downloaded Air Bud the movie!
hahaaha hell yes
Toe back 540 please
A tutorial vid
i feel like i already made one
Bruh I’m still trying and I am 3 quarters of the way there
edge all the way through the top of the wake. send me a video to my dms on instagram
