I have a tip aswell , I felt when I was starting wakeboarding that keeping the handle lower to waist hight helps so that your upper body don't get pulled forward as much = better stability :)
@@jboneill i defiantly agree i went wakeboarding for the first time a few days ago and i went low hips then higher and i was extremely proud of what i have had achieved
Thank you, it was my first time waking boarding today. I watched your video last night. I was able to use your technique today to get up on the first try.
Uh. I'm going wakeboarding for the first time this coming weekend and this comment gives he hope. I've been snowboarding for years so I know once I'm up I'll be fine. Lol
I’ve surfed for quite some time so I hope my experience correlates well to wakeboarding, watching all these tutorial videos as I’m driving down to the shore to have my first sesh lol. Great vid thank you.
I have a tip that might help some people, idk. Something that helped me get up when learning to wakeboard was keeping my eyes on the back of the boat instead of looking down at the board.
Tips: If you know how to get up on a wakesurf board, it is way easier. Sit in a natural position (the way the body sits when you have the board on your feet) . This is how I got up on my first try. Also you don’t need a wake boat or tower.
I tried it for the first time this weekend and could not get up. So now coming to this video for the next time I try. My boat driver was slamming acceleration and just throwing me under and I couldn't figure it out. Good to know I can blame the driver :)
Definitely do a driving tutorial. I recently went on holiday at the coast and wanted to wakesurf which they could not provide on the day but offered me wakeboarding as an alternative. No ski or wake boat, ended up behind a RIB with a broken ski pylon and was handed a junior board being I'm a 100kg adult. Needless to say the driver failed to bring a reasonable board and was intent on nailing the throttle every time so I was unable to water start. Really sucked as ended up knee boarding in the end...
Nice work. It helps the rope is angled upwards away from you too. I find it much more difficult if the rope is completely horizontal. The handle actually “lifts” you up if angled. Also I found out I wakeboard goofy. Much easier for me :)
Great video, I’m a snowboarder of 5 years and am trying out wake boarding for the first time this weekend. How close of a transition would it be from snow to water?
It’s not to bad but it feels like riding uneven ice if the water is rocky, however getting up is whack, I got up first time yesterday and I swear to Christ ARMS AROUND YOUR KNEES this prevents your torso from folding like a pretzel
Very well explained mate! 👍🏻 these are the exact instructions I was taught when I learnt to waterski that applies to wake boarding too almost 33 years ago. 🙂👍🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻✌🏻 shit did I just give away my age 😁
Hey man love your videos, we just got our first boat and I have a hand me down board from my buddy. Wanting to get something newer, any suggestions on a board for a beginner?
I can wake surf but when tried wake boarding, according to this video, I was getting up to soon and sinking, thought the board was too small, guess what- it wasn’t lol
Learning is pretty broad, 18mph first time getting up Maybe 20 at a 60ft rope length to start learning tricks This is all an estimation though, all boats are different
What's up JB. What style of wakeboard did you show in the tutorial? I ride a LiquidForce 142 and I find myself always having to try and turn out the water to get on plane. Granted, I am wakeboarding behind a 2007 Glastron straight from the ski tow point right on the back of the boat. Is it easier to have a wakeboard tower or pylon to plane out, or does it matter? thanks man, great videos. much appreciated
definitely a bit easier with a tower, but its still possible without. this is a 2020 hyperlite murray. if you are looking for a new wakeboard or any watersports stuff, check out boardco.com for good pricing. for 10% off any item use product code JBONEILL at checkout :)
I can get up fine on the wakeboard but my brother is having problems. He's a huge guy, 6'8" and 280 lb. We have a 150 cm wakeboard which should be plenty big. I'm a smaller guy at 5'10" and 150 lb. When the boat gets up to 5-6 MPH, I can easily get up on teh surface. However my brother can't when I'm driving. Do I need to go faster than 6 MPH to get big people up on the surface? How fast do I need to go?
So my biggest fear was the feeling of like getting dragged and like drowning ironic for a lifeguard but still . How should i set the board cause I felt like I was pushing the water at a 90 degree angle.
you can, it just might deteriorate quickly. if you are looking to buy a cableboard in the future or anything watersports related be sure to check out boardco.com for 10% off any item use product code JBONEILL at checkout i think they do price matching also, so you will get the best price no matter what

Honestly they Hyperlite Murray pro is great from beginner all the way to pro, so you won’t end up having to buy a different board later down the road
Thank you so much I need to learn love you guys
Thanks so much for watching! I hope you progress fast!
U are the first person liking my comment
I also think that when you're starting out you should try to go when there aren't many people out.
trueeee
I just got my wakeboard a couple weeks ago and got up my second time! Is it supposed to feel like a sustained pull up or is my positioning wrong?
i dont know, i cant see what you are doing lol

point toes up lol

Sounds like he’s fighting the boat.
Stay in a small ball, slowly roll up onto your feet.
No need to lean back super hard
Thx bro
yuhhh
I was tough to kick the board is that a good way i do run out of energy fast and get tired
Lol
Nice! Thanx!
thanks for watching

For the driving but my dad just guns it and it works perfectly even though I’m less than 120lbs
Yeah well you my friend understand how it works so it’s not really an issue. Most people are uncoordinated AF
how do you get up on a rewintch i got one and its been tough
to get up
Put the Rewinch high in the air
You tell everething!
yuhh
anyone else hear the grunting at the beginning when he is first trying to get up lmao
had a poor driver hahaha
Next summer this will get a ton of views because of new wakeboarders
hopefully!
lol I love the thumbs up XD
lolol
Haha, ‘think you need to fight and use your muscles or your brain.’
And serious?! Broken femur?! Holy geez.
hhaha
"its easy to get up, even if you're soft!"
hahah
im 55 years old going to try wakeboarding for the first time in august hop i can get up.
Yeah you totally got it, I taught my dad at almost 70 years old
See if you can find a cable park with a 2 tower system, it will be really helpful
I would love a driving tutorial .. I am new to it
Will try and get that done soon!
Nice basic tutorial, can you show how to waterstart on a cable?
soon! thank you!
Who let their femur snap before they figured it's time to let go? 😂😂😂
my cousin hahah
Jb, teach me how to triple 180
deal
do lake courtesy and driving tutorial
Yes I need to do that
My first time my instructor told me to bend my arms -_- … hopefully that’s the reason why I couldn’t get up…
Yeah your first time instructor was definitely incorrect no offense to them
Tried so many times, nearly rips arms off and submarines. Haven’t succeeded yet
send video on IG
For me i bend my arms and it makes it better
i think it requires more than double the effort with bent arms.
@@jboneill oh 😂
I'm gonna try this and ask mae brother not to drop the hammer, it wS like catching a truck go past
