any way it don't matter what you spend on what brand they all break no matter brand so let get real it what makes the person happy an the love of the hobby
This is the exact kind of review ive been looking for on these rovan buggies im going to buy one now. I have hpi trucks too and they also have lost parts from coming loose brand new out of the box.
Ability to fit real version parts is awesome. Makes money for the original companies where their would have been none. The lot of people who are absolutley not going to pay premium for their ptoducts will give them money for their parts. Win.
Ive 2 of the rovan buggies for about 4yrs and have uncountable amount of hours on each and have no problems accept consumables that you have on all 1/5 scale buggies.
i am from New Zealand. I have just bought a Rovan 275A Baja Buggy 2wd cost me $1248 NZ dollars plus $150.47 for the import and 15% GST included, total cost with a tuned pipe and including the $322.OO in American dollars for express delivery 3-5 days from New York to NZ was $802.OO. it is seriously freaking quick.
I have a kingmotor Baja 5b 30.5cc for about 1yr and it works great I haven't had any problems with it yet , went over a couple of medium jumps but that's as far as I go , I'm tryin to make it last long cause bashing it and doin crazy jumps your bound to break somethin no matter if it's hpi , rovan , kingmotor or losi
The same thing happened to my diff. in my Rovan. All of the serews backed out and destroyed the gears. You must put locktite on everything. The vibration that these two stroke engines produce shakes everything loose.
Audio sucks!!!!but anyway.....I own a rovan 30cc buggy I am on my 4th year with this buggy....only thing replaced was tires and control arms... other than that never lost no screws or any other parts....runs strong to this day!!!!
great review guys....looks like that rovan's clones have catch up with the original hpi's bajas quality and durability, thanks for sharing.....thumbs up for the slow mo action shots!!!
I love how people talk about the haters, when your reverse hating on people that have either and Losi or or the HPI. You don’t know how those guys came by the money to by the “name brand”1/5th scales. Regardless this was a great true comparison! Thumbs up!👍🏻
I bought a Rovan Baja 5SC with the 36cc engine. It's a great vehicle and well worth the money. I paid roughly half the price of the Hpi version. Even if I completely upgraded the Rovan the cost would still be less than the HPI.
I would like to know as a consumer of Traxxas RCS why all these years then being in business don't they offer 1/5 scale 2-stroke gas RC find that they have an X Maxx 7th scale trying to say it's a 5th scale all of a sudden I would love to see Traxxas step up their game to see what kind of a monster will they come up with their products are top of the line but that's my opinion I would like to know why Traxxas
5t 1st vid Here is my kng motors t1000 5t clone i loved it broke body on first run had it all converted to hpi parts after having it maybe close to a year only had engine issue once and it stayed flooded for few days didnt do anything to it i think it just neded carb gasket but i didnt know enough about that kind of engine myself to fix it let it sit and it started back up . mine had a 2 speed gears and came with a cover over them. had it nearly converted to the hpi 5sc before i traded it off . My son was having some isues with the noise lol ,it had a stinger style pipe which is cvered under cage
Gentlemen...You are the 2 most informative guys on 1/5 scale sand bashers I've ever seen and I'm in the market for 1. The beach & thick, plush grass are my bashing areas...I have many questions before I make a purchase.. body style changes, are most important to me along with durability, speed, & price. Can we talk??? Thank you. Joey.
Thanks for the video! I just purchased a Rovan 5b. I also have a King Motors KM-T1000 that I purchased missing the front-end assembly. Do you know of any videos ,RUclipsrs, or documents that would show me how to assemble the front-end assembly (step-by-step)? I have found exploded parts pics but that doesn't help with assembling....if this makes sense? Let me know if you know where I could find what I need. I REALLY want to get that KM-T1000 with Zenoah engine running! Thanks in advance
Maybe if you followed the distruction manual you wouldn't have had so many problems. Checking screws and locktite is a priority with R/C. By the way they go even better with a two speed.
I'm wondering. I'm brand new to 1/5 scale and got a Rovan 275A. You mentioned in your video that screws/bolts need to be loctited before use. Can you give me a better idea of which ones please? The video was great, thank you.
They come with way bigger carbs! It's the same shit there might be a few parts you have to swap out. My first baja 5b was an hpi. I spent a small fortune in it and made it way to nice to bash I ended up selling it because i never used it. But I'm getting another and it's going to be a rovan or hing motor or what ever it is. By the time I change out the gears and put the OBR motor in it scorpion frame and turtle sealed clutch housing and a few other goodies it will be the same with hundreds in my pocket! .
people are gonna knock the clones nothing you can do about it, I can remember when the hpi first came out, folks were breaking stuff left and right , spur gear bolts were breaking off, shocks leaking after 1 run , shock shafts bending , folks getting brand new out the box hpi bajas and the diff would be void of oil , I have had FGs ,smart techs , carsons , ive owned 2 HPIs the fist gen baja and a 5T both were excellent products . now I just have a losi 5T , but I'm wanting another baja and just might pick up a clone one I have another left over HPI parts to change whatever breaks on the clone. nice review I think the clones have come along way .
I got one and it came with a broken shock....nothing MAJOR but considering the prices of these things, replacing the shock isn't all that bad...you can just get a stock replacement or upgrade your whole shock system
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work the truck looks good for the price with the upgrade can't go wrong 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
When I got my t1000a Deluxe I didn't tear down my truck did a once over an my king motors truck is running awsome I know have a built 45 cc motor in it the guy who Owens roven Owens king motors two
To me,if you have to tear these buggies down only to have to put lock tight on every damn screw including the diff then this buggy isn't RTR. It would be cheaper if they just sent you a buggy that you had to put together yourself. Again,if you gotta take it apart anyways, what's the difference?
Hey .... I could really use you help ... I just got back into RC back in January and my friend convinced me to get electric so I got an X MAXX... but I want a gas powered one .... I had a Nitro Rustler when I was 13 .. im 37 now ... been looking hard into these Rivan buggys , I get a millon different answers .... one gut thats very very knowledgeable with this stuff and has converted into a Sprint car and a Late Model .... he says to get a KING MOTOR, THERE MUCH BETTER THEN ROVAN , and its $609 for a King Motor 30.5cc engine .... I was looking at probably the same one you got for 600 or make offer on ebay , so figure $550 from Primal Rc in Valley Cottage, NY... I live in Ling Island .... but it's a 36cc Rovan ..... its got all the same exact upgrades as the King Motor one when I looked at the specs ..... I hear from alotof people that HPI IS THE BRST BUT IMPOSSIBLE NEARLY TO GET , UNLESS YOU BUY USED ON EBAY , I THIN M THEY STOPPED MAKING THE PARTS , but I know that all 3 parts are compatible .... I hear these guys say if you don't have $1000 to buy a New HPI ... buy one used ... do they still make them new , is it worth the extra money......???. How is your 36cc Rovan doing ??? I know the Red /Orange 1/5 scale Losi K&N MIDEL WITH THE K&N AIR FILTET YOU CAN WALK OUT THE STORE WITH FOR A LITTLE LESS THEN $900 ... I KNOW THATS A 4WD AND DIFFERENT ANIMAL ... BUT I DONT WANT BUY MY NEXT CAR AND BE LIKE DAM I WISH I BOUGHT THAT ONE A FEW WEEKS LATER LIKE I DID WITH MY X MAXX
I love this video, but you guys need to get a microphone or something set up so we can hear you better. When the smaller guy on the left talks, I can't understand everything he is saying, even with my speakers cranked up loud.
It's good buggy well not as good as real Baja ss but it's a starting point for up grades to transform it to bad ass rc buggy I know I had one thinking getting other one

Great video guys...have one question I had one tank in my rovan and now it will not start period!! Tried everything...what motor would be good to replace with???
Shawn Couwenhoven Check your spark plug and coil first. Mine was running 100%. On normal 2stroke. Got HPI. Then I used Synthetic. Died within minutes. We stripped and cleaned motor. New spark plug. Normal 2 stroke ran 100%. Put in synthetic again. Same thing. Ran about 2 min on it. And nothing. Could pull myself silly. Opened Carb and cleaned. Replaced spark plug. 100% again. The ngk Spark plug clearly showed deposits after only minutes. I believe some plugs are just crappy and die quick. Or could be the ngk once I got was burning to weak to ignite synthetic somehow and kept failing under it. Now only got normal 2 stroke in. What is little smoke any case.
I've had a Baja HPI 5 s c Truck for about a year-and-a-half and all I've had to do is replace one spur gear and I beat the crap out of it no Loctite and starts up every time I sincerely believe you get what you pay for
Idk man I never had any problems with mines , it stills runs strong after having it for a few years , the gear I automatically upgraded that to metal and the pipe the bulks out on the sides I changed it cause I know if it tumbles the pipe is gonna get dented .......hpi , rovan , king motor , they all break it just depends what type of driver you are mild basher that likes to go all out on flat surfaces and do small jumps to medium jumps where your buggy rarely breaks shit or your a hard basher drive all out in flat surfaces doing big jumps where your def bound to break something all the time or most of the time driving that hard , I'm just sayin clone or not they all break parts , people can say rovan and king motor are clones but they are keeping 5th scale gas rc alive and gotten new people into it and buying rovan and km cause it's affordable and most of them comes with upgrades which is still affordable over the legit ones that don't and are too expensive to buy
I love all rcs and I wil buy the cheapest and upgrade the crap out of it I have that same orange clone that I got used off eBay and spent the extra money on turtle racing almost everything can't remember now cause I'm drunk but I also got the kraken chassis v3 blemish witch was cheaper modified rc rear plate the expensive one all rpm arms kraken class 1 cage like I said got a lot lot of stuff and save some money no one will know I have a clone that 😜
Honestly I had an hpi for 10 yrs I have recently received a rovan king motor frankestien all cheaper clone parts it’s a pot steel powder coated chassis a lot heavier than my hpi but faster and holds up I see no quality difference in my opinion and I beat em
They are all made in China, including HPI and Rovan. My issues with the clones is that they are stealing IP and getting the benefit of the R&D HPI and Rovan have already done. The other is probably the build quality, I highly recommend if you buy a clone that you make sure everything is bolted and screwed on correctly. If you do that, it should perform as well as the authentic cars.
when AMERICA can build them for the same price then I would buy them from AMERICA. AMERICA wants 4 to 5 hundred dollars more than AMERICA. the American ones break just as easy on jumps that size. and cost more.
Bought 2 of these, for me and my brother. Must say i wouldnt recommend them. The overall quality is quite low. Had them for about a year and they spend most of the time broken.
Well I actually have been able to compare the two and the Rovan is NOT something I would buy even if they gave them away. Material quality is TERRIBLE at best, and the engine is not even comparable to say Losi´s or Zenoah engines. And just because they´re all made in the same country doesn´t guarantee build quality from one place to the other.
A friend of mine has a rovan copy of the HPI baja.. With the 30 something CC engine.. I have the original HPI Baja, and I drive circles around his car. It´s looks the part but material wise it´s a big NO from me.
Don't know why you would not do up bolts and locktite them before U ran them doesn't matter what brand car you have you should always do that first and again after run in all bolts from any brand will come loose from vibration why you compared that makes no sense you lost $100 because you weren't thinking not the cars fault just poor judgement overall I would go rovan over any HPI much more value for money who wants to spend more for less buy a rovan and with the money you saved take the wife and kids out for dinner and a movie and still get some upgrades for the rovan Baja and your way Infront I would know I sell rovan and HPI trust me your only paying for a sticker that says HPI
any way it don't matter what you spend on what brand they all break no matter brand so let get real it what makes the person happy an the love of the hobby
At the same time I don't want to spend more time fixing the car than playing with it.
I let my dad drive my Savage once, he ran into the ONE pole in the middle of this huge field!
Ohhh WAOW 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think it was a good review, the audio needs a little work, sometimes it was hard understand your words.

Yeah eyeing up one of these for later in the year maybe. Had a Kyosho Landmax .21 F150 back in the day
Great info guys. Really learned a lot about these 5th scale rigs. Thumbs up!

They used to make one. Many years ago. It used to be on their website under legacy
Or you could just get the Tmaxx ✌️
I can't afford a roven yet but I would be proud to have one. they are awesome about 520 bucks.
I paid $422 + tax for my rovan 305A .
Notice that RPM plastics don't break that easily anymore. It's worth the money. 👍😁
Adding one to my RC collection very soon locktite will defo be done before I take it out good review guys

i bought the rovan first 5 minutes the rear wheel fell off luckily the nut wasnt to hard to find

awesome vid, hey bro i was looking everywhere for a comparison on 5t bodies with the huge beetle body hahaha i saw it at 1:50

As far as i know baja isnt patented and hpi wasnt the 1st company to produce it so we cant really call it clone.
Besides you forgot to mention that hpi have CY(rebrand) engine same as rovan but smaller not to mention alot of hpi parts are worse than rovan lets say clutch holder on hpi is plastic and it melts....
I like the review just the audio is a problem
Do you guys ever try driving these FPV.?
Those buggies looks mint! :)
I seen a guy on youtube the other day with those real nice titanium steering rods and bent one off a jump and it wasn't even that high.
NKG spark plug?
Just like all other rc off road vehicles...always breaking!!!!! Drive on pavement and you will have a chance to enjoy!!!!!!!
audio is horrible all garbled ............
Is the King Motor truck better quality than the Rovan??

cool

If you do that, it should perform as well as the authentic cars.
I was wrong, HPI is made in Taiwan. Rovan and King Motors are made in China, but at completely different factories.
HPI no longer sells the 5b or 5t so it doesn't really matter.
My real honest review is, the footage was good but the audio sucked
Why all of you buy this clone to say this RC's not good ? I don't understand what is the project. China love's you all for his economy.
Will a HPI parts work on a redcat dune runner ?
+bryan max nope
the dune runner is not a clone, it just happens to look similar
Are you to sisters?? ... "We are Darwin"
when AMERICA can build them for the same price then I would buy them from AMERICA. AMERICA wants 4 to 5 hundred dollars more than AMERICA. the American ones break just as easy on jumps that size. and cost more.
You don't make any sense🙄
Clean the cars.
dj medic sounds like him
Bought 2 of these, for me and my brother. Must say i wouldnt recommend them. The overall quality is quite low. Had them for about a year and they spend most of the time broken.
LMAO I like the butt hurt people that spent a ton of money on a hpi or losi. when you can spend alot less on a rovan.
Very poor sound so your review turned out being bad because I had to guess what you were saying on 1/2 of the video
Audio terrible I’d rather see the car not them and there shop
