I purchased my Tone King Imperial Mark ii in turquoise from Charles back in 2015 and just love it so much . I watched clips for a few years and tried one at another music shop in Seattle, WA to confirm my choice, then found Charles & his store .. such a great person to deal with , and I have purchased a few other items since then from him. I have a few amps around the house still, but the Tone King is by far my and all my guitar friend’s favorite. Wonderfully build and the attenuator is a real great feature when playing in a house .
Sounds really nice. The price depends on what you would like to hear more of when you play that matters. The speakers may be the answer with something you already own. Harley Benton make 2 X 12 vertical Celestion speakers at a good price.
Amp sounds great (clean and overdriven). If it were an everyday choice, I would say yes. My only thing is, because of cost…would I be admiring it more than playing through it. I think we all have those “coffin” guitars that tend to be used very sparingly.
In the right hands both the Friedman Plex and the Tone king Royalist are better than any Marshall, not only they have more oomph, but also they have less hum.
Henning Pauly has reviewed dozens of pedals thru his so I have heard it many, many times before. That said it is great to have your usual thorough well weighed perspective. My problem is I need to have an amp hit my 'Oh WOW!!!' button to spend such serious money.
My message didn't go through yesterday. I was saying, on my second last upload you'll see me unboxing my new RG... No playing on video yet... Just me unboxing, and showing guitar, I thought you'd be interested, and I wonder what you think :). We were talking about Japanese guitars early on your streams. I mentioned it as a possible buy... Hope you see it, a very short vid. And this amp. looks pretty cool, but to me, if only you didn't have a similar sounding amp. It'd be worth buying, but maybe you have similar amps to this sound. Either clean, or Marshall sound. A high quality amp. though... Cheers Tony.
@@silvel2edge doesnt do the bassman or marshall sound particularly well, the OD sound is compressed, and fizzy, and the clean is very generic in timbre. it doesnt sound particularly inspiring. When you consider the cost, its incredibly deflating. I hated it more than anything I have ever purchased. It also is incredibly noisy on the OD, the gain sweep might as well not exist, its like its on 10 from 3-10 on the dial you get no difference.
It sounded great but does it do anything your other 3 amps doesn’t do…that’s what I would consider…personally if I was laying out 4 grand I’d take a serious look at amplified nation👍

I think it sounds really good. Really snappy attack.
It really is. I was only scratching the surface in these clips.

I agree, the oh wow only happens around 7 on the volume knob!
I have it and it's incredible
I was planning on acquiring a twin sister, but I heard a few demos of the royalist. How do they compare?
@@walterworrallhi, I haven’t tried the twin sister and so I can’t say, sorry
i have one and love it

I will have a look cheers!
Consider the Ampliphonix & Gain from amplified nation. Has bassman and plex channels.
that amp is pure garbage. I owned it and couldnt get rid of it soon enough
@@edwardgrassel872 why do you say that? What didn’t you like about it?

Its very transparent.
Heille un québécois !! J'adore sa shop..
Nice 💯
I wouldn't waste my money on it !

Tony,
I would much prefer a Marshall 1974X. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it
The question is " DO YOU REALLY NEED IT?"., "Do you really need another amplifier ?"
What does need have to do with it? 😂
@@addictedtogear The one who dies with the most amplifiers Wins ! 😄
I already have two ! ... I may buy another, just in case the other 2 amps blow up.
I'd pass
Pass.
