    As a long term poe veteran it's exciting to see new people that may be familiar with the genre but never fully committed to getting into poe1 now get hyped about poe2 - looking forward to exploring it with y'all!

    I think Poe 2 will be the actual spiritual successor to D2 due to the changes that they are making, I couldn’t really get into Poe 1 and that’s probably my fault and my old man brain but I am excited for its release, and thanks for covering it, Michael, great video!

      If you ever wanna give PoE 1 another chance, my advice would be to start with a build guide from Zizaran, finish the campaign with it and then learn one game mechanic at a time

      Hey thanks dude. I pretty much only like diablo 2 for this genre, but POE2 looks absolutely great. Ive also noticed that the devs at GGG mention diablo 2 A LOT, so it makes sense. There was even a recent video of Jonathan rogers mentioning how the skill gems page for POE2 was even designed with d2 in mind to make it more accessible to new players. There's already a lot here for someone like me to love

      @@off-meta-michael I think your understanding of game mechanics and experience making build guides would transfer over very well if that’s something that interests you, and considering that everyone will essentially be starting fresh then even seasoned PoE build creators will be learning the new mechanics together.
      I’ve been loving the Jonathan Rogers interviews too. Also loved that they had D1&2 designers (David Brevik, and Max and Erich Schaefer) on a panel at their last convention. Lots of interesting presentations from Exilecon 2023 if you haven’t seen yet.

    6:50 so I'd like to attempt to answer your question. Which comes down to: what if player A wants to go left and player B wants to go right? Does the screen split? Currently (subject to change) the answer is no. If you and your friend are logged into "Couch Co-op" and you share a screen, if player A goes to the bathroom and gets a beer, player B going right will zoom out the screen a tiny bit and then drag player A along behind with player B's movement. If you have 2 screens you can play regular Co-op and it just acts like a regular multiplayer experience. And if you have 2 screens but are logged into "Couch Co-op" you can at anytime both log off, and login to regular Co-op for a situation where player A goes left to finish quest that player B has already completed, while player B wants grinds cave till player A catches up.

    One of the most important parts of poe 1 and 2 for me is that you "can" use every ability on any class in the game. I loved that in guild wars 1 and poe1. It lets you think out of the box and create really interesting combinations. Trying to find those broken combos is my main appeal of these games and after playing poe1 for a decade, a game like d4 feels too basic with its pretty much handfull of predetermined builds.
    As an example: in poe1 im atm playing a saboteur, a subclass of the shadow that is themed around traps and triggers. I use a brand, a selfrepeating spell thematically bound to the templar and summon zombies that fall from the sky, hit an enemy and die, which as a minion skill is thematically bound to the necromancer witch subclass. By using different shenanigans with triggers i am able to summon more than 50 of those zombies per second. A rain of Zombies basically.
    I then increased their dmg by converting their dmg to lightning dmg, lowering MY lightning resistance and using an unique armour with the line "Nearby enemies lightning resistance is equal to yours."
    Poe1 gives player insane freedom but plays pretty bad, looks bad, has a mostly boring story. It seems that they fix poe1 issues with poe2 and try to still give us that toolbox of the first game. Im really hyped for that and i usually am not hyped by game releases anymore.

    • @off-meta-michael

      That was a good description for me dude. I can see the appeal with those mechanics and i agree that it doesn't look very cool for someone like me who hasn't played POE. I agree i think POE2 will have the great mechanics and build variety and the style factor that makes it more fun to watch and play

    In PoE1 on console you can hold L2 and R2 to access a new set of assigned skills. This vid didn’t show that and it didn’t show how you can use the right stick while using the skill binds. I’m keen to see how that feels
    Edit: so glad you brought up the feeling of inventory management. It does matter and d4 doesn’t seem to understand that.
    You got my sub to see more from you on PoE2. Also big d2 fan

      @off-meta-michael  2 месяца назад +3

      Yea dude the inventory layout, style, and management is a huge deal to me. D4 looks like a gacha mobile game with its inventory and im not trying to be duragatory. It just does and this is a bad design choice. As a d2 player, POE2 is checking all the boxes for me

      Yea, i know they made POE1 in response to d2, but now that they've got the budget, team, and experience, they can really create something much more incredible that really is the real successor to d2 in my opinion. Nothing ive seen looks from the ARPG scene comes close to d2 except what ive seen from POE2.

      I see what you mean, but for me i didnt get into POE1 and my point is that POE2 has already sold me and this will be the only ARPG type game i play after D2. And so in that regard it is the sequel to d2 for me.
      Also, i just think the quality, style, pacing, and mechanics are much improved on POE2 from all other ARPGs, whereas POE1 kinda stands along side the others. Now POE2 looks to be on top and above them, making it an actual evolution of the diablo style game.

    The game is amazing and how it looks I hope it doesn't become like in PoE1 about after lvl 60 the character and mobs start moving like FLASH!!!! and because of that I am not a big PoE enthusiast, I hope the game will be slower and then it will be my new Arpg leaving D2 after years and years because d3, d4 no comment....

    • @off-meta-michael
      @off-meta-michael  2 месяца назад

      Yea, it does seem like they are aware of that and they don't want the game to become all about fastest attack and cast frames and one shotting mobs with 2 second boss kills. They want you to actually engage and have to use more than one skill for the builds. I really really like that a lot. In d2 i try to make hybrid builds like that all the time.

    The slow pace and graphics are what stand out. I think they will stay that way til end game as they are promoting couch co-op and wouldn’t make sense to have 2 people running all over the screen and instakilling every mob. At least I’m hopeful😂

  • @danielguerra2204
    @danielguerra2204 2 месяца назад

    You should at least try POE for a couple days to appreciate the sheer amount of creativity the game presents. If you think the mobs/items are too much (in early campaign for many people this is NOT the case), try a bit of ruthless mode, which is more in line with the D2 experience.

  • @DoctorStrange01

    • @off-meta-michael
      @off-meta-michael  2 месяца назад

      I mean no one will know all the info when it comes out so there won't be an established meta or community that act as the "build police"
      Also they showed lots of tooltips which is nice. D2 really has so much info behind the scenes its bonkers. You cant effectively play the game without a wiki of some kind. Perfect example are runewords. The game itself gives you ZERO info as to their existence or recipes on how to make them. There is no way to stumble upon how to craft a single item in the game itself. It is all guides online from outside sources. There's a ton more as well.
      I dont think POE2 will be like this at all really.

      You do know that it was the subject of the showcase right? There are like 15 other showcases about other aspects of the game. The main thing about PoE2 is the combat and customization.

      It isn't the prime quality of the game. It is a console features showcase, you dimwit :D Watch all the other videos about PoE 2, there are plenty. Just one PoE 2's system is deeper than the entire Diablo 2.

    Poe with a controller sucks. You can't place curses where you want, movement skills are terrible, leap slam is the worst, it always targets an enemy so you leap into a pack and can't leap out. Targetting in general just outrught sucks if you aren't melee, and I just came to the part of the video where he just said those issues can't be fixed in poe 2. Awesome, great job GGG.

      Also, trading is the worst part of the console, fewer players and common items are more expensive.
