    I've never been able to wrap my head around Phil's inability to accept challenge as anything positive. Instead of rising to the occasion and attempting something somewhat challenging, he just gets offended that the game's developers had the audacity to present him with something he can't just breeze through.

      "That's what happens when you view viedeo games as work."
      Exactly that.
      Phil seems to take very long gaming session at a time, just so he can finish the game as quickly as possible and move on the next game on his schedule. Whenever there is a challenge he can't overcome immediately, he has to wory about his precious schedule. There is no way he could actually enjoy a game with an attitude like that.

    Watching this made me decide to replay this game on my old N64. Hadn't played it in many years.
    I'm roughly Phil's age. A lot of games that people our age remembered loving as kids don't really stand the test of time when we replay them today. It's not just that the technology has moved on - we were also simply younger, and more easily entertained by things that we might find dull today. Sometimes replaying something we loved as a kid ends up being a disappointment.
    Replaying Banjo-Kazooie was not like that. It's still just as fun today as it was nearly twenty years ago. The progression of technology hasn't dulled its greatness, and neither has the jadedness of growing older. It's a timeless masterpiece.
    Phil should show a little more respect.

      The one thing I'd say hasn't aged particularly well about Banjo Kazooie is that the stuff you collected on a level goes kaput if you leave the level. That was one thing they greatly improved upon with Donkey Kong 64, with presumably Tooie and Conker using that model, too.

Nobody does that on their very first playthrough of the game. @TatsTopVideos 8 лет назад +23

      yeah, hence why he streamed the game offline, because he was using a guide. The first stream he did, he legit didn't know what to do. Outside of that, when he streamed it all offline (pissing off his fans) he knew where everything was, and answered all the hard questions of Grunty Furnace Fun, pretty accurately, considering he never paid attention to the game half the time. My sister actually pointed out some of these facts in her vids.

    • @EarthPhantomTS
      @EarthPhantomTS 8 лет назад

      +Tats TopVideos I'm sorry, girl, but even though I love ragging on DSP as much as the next person, that's bullshit. There's TONS of instances of DSP being confused IN THIS VERY VIDEO! For instance, if he was using a guide, how did he NOT know this was an Ouija board: 1:02:35 ?

    • @TatsTopVideos
      @TatsTopVideos 7 лет назад +10

      Towards the end of the playthrough, though. Rusty Bucket Bay, somehow noticing there is a crack in the building where Snacker appears, you would never know it was down there, unless you went into first person, because the way the camera is fixed, its impossible to notice. Yet somehow he KNOWS its there and doesn't say anything. Like oh i found a secret area.
      Or the Mad Monster Mansion of putting eggs into the flowerpots, you don't just magically know and thats the first thing you do when you enter the church.
      Or, somehow finding out the tolls meant eggs on the first try.
      Or somehow knowing the answers to Gruntys Furnace Fun, despite the fact anything general knowledge shown previously in other games he has no clue. Like country places on the world map, or paying attention previously to a story in the game to a said related question, he would require Stream Chat to help him out.
      But the fact Stream chat was not available for this game, and he did it all offline, proves he may of in fact read a guide to do it.
      This wasn't the first time, he used guides. Black Mesa he did and was very obvious when his game crashed and the webpage behind it showed Walkthrough guide.
      Another example was Assasins Creed 2, he was using a guide to beat.
      GTA San Andreas he needed a guide to get through it.

    • @EarthPhantomTS
      @EarthPhantomTS 7 лет назад +4

      Then color me confused on why he didn't know what to do with that Ouija board immediately. Sounds like the guide he used dropped the ball on that bit.
      Forgive me, though, if it still feels a little...schizo...for lack of a better word: half the time, he's clueless, but the other half the time, he's clearly doing stuff that you'd need to have already known to do. I think it's basically like, well, like he had his eyes glued to the guide for half the Jiggies and he deliberately didn't for the other half in a futile attempt to make it seem like this is still a proper blind run. But we know better (or at least you likely do; I'm just speculating here).

    42:40 That's because we all know that Phil's GAMING POWERS were stolen by Deathface and are still in his possession because Phil got stuck in the first mako reactor and thus was never able to finish Final Fantasy 7.
    Now here's something I never quite understood: If Phil has such a dislike for pre 2000 game mechanics, why does he even bother playing old games like that? He should know by now that old N64/PS1 platformers have "terrible" camera (by todays standards) and some rather archaic design choices. It's okay if you can't look past all these flaws but why even bother playing these games then?
    I just recenly played Spyro for he first time ever and, guess what, I hated it. Old game like that are hard to enjoy, without a good dose of nostalgia. If Phil doesn't like early 3D platformers, he should just avoid them instead of shitting all over people's favorite games.

    • @D-Nova
      @D-Nova 8 лет назад +4

      I'm not getting into a debate whether or not the camera actually sucks, because it depends on where you're coming from. For me personally, the camera in SM64 is fine, because I know that game inside out. The only thing that matters, in context of what I was trying to say, is that for Phil the camera does suck. But he should know better by now and simply stay away from games like Banjo Kazooie instead of insulting the game for it's "archaic 1990s game design". The game is eighteen years old by now (I think) and all his bitching and moaning wont change the game and how people feel about it.
      I didn't like Spyro, so I just stopped playing Spyro. Why can't he just admit to his fans, that he has a hard time enjoying old N64/PS1 games and that he will not play those games anymore. If he would just say that in a polite way, no one would blame him. But instead, he keeps playing these outdated games and then starts bitching whining about how everything in that game sucks. And that is why people get mad at him.

    I love how every time something happens DSP goes into extreme detail about what he thinks happened. DSP: "She hit me with a fireball. The fireball created a "vacuum state" that sucked me towards her". You simply got hit with a fireball, because you didn't expect it. Having never fought her before. Instead of moving or even ATTEMPTING to make any sort of EFFORT to move you instead decided to tank the fireball and got flung off the tower, because Grunty deemed you unworthy and was baffled as to how you had progressed thus far and was rightly tired of your shit.

      @@atomsmasher703 If you're bothered by something as basic as collecting things in a video game, maybe you should'nt play them at all. God forbid a game makes you work... Why do you play them then if it's not to find and grab stuff, that's the whole fun of it... I mean, that's the whole point, collect stuff to become stronger and/or unlock harder part of the game. Otherwise, if you could go directly to the final boss , where's the fun in that ?

Albeit that this game isn't the hardest in the bunch, there is no way someone, let alone Phil, can decipher all the puzzles and what to do so fast throughout the game play. He is most likely using a guide of some sort. Whether it be a video or game faq, he's using something.

      Nothing really, it's just a really cool save slot with a retro gameboy banjo theme tune. Compared to Banjo Sleeping in Save Slot 1, or Banjo cooking in Save Slot 2. Plus you're more likely to trigger the hidden activation sequence with Slot 3 rather than Slot 1 or 2. Which launches the duo out of the chair via a spring.

      It's been hinted he has used a guide. Because he never streamed it. He only played if offline which was really weird.
      He knew a lot of things right off the bat without even thinking about it.
      Like putting eggs into the pots of Mad Monster Mansion, and the tolls of Rusty Bucket Bay.
      Knew every answer to Gruntys Question Tile in Gruntys Furnace Fun without really talking to every Bretilda location.
      To even swimming through the hole in the wall (that cannot be viewed with the normal camera unless you are in FPS mode, which he did not do once) in the caged off area with Snacker in Rusty Bucket Bay.
      When asked why he did not want to stream it, he said people would not be interested and he wanted the game to end quickly.
