    Very interesting! I’m curious where gen 5 drives are going, but i don’t really see a great usage for them only if you work with a lot of big files/folders regularly. As for gaming they don’t really make a difference from gen 4.

    I just don't want active cooling on my SSD, especially not a small fan. They should put much better passive heatsink and there is enough air movement in the case. Also there is 0 benefit of gen 5 for OS or gaming or basic PC stuff. And again even if you edit videos, as soon as the 2-4gb buffer is full it will slow down to 3000 mb/s or even lower. I will wait till the 2nd or 3rd version of the GEN 5 coming out. Building my new PC now, and my choice is the Samsung 990 Pro 2Tb, literally half price, identical performance in real life use.

    It's not the motherboard's fault, it's the CPU's. Raptor Lake (Refresh) only does provide 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes. Obviously the GPU and SSD have to share them...

    At $300 without cooler 2tb, no thanks, over priced. I'll go with a gen 4 for around $120, I got an Intel 2tb nvme on sale for under $100. All prices in USD.

      Gen 5 is pricey

      @PhillipRPeck 8 месяцев назад

      @@TheProvokedPrawn Yeah, but it's not as bad as I was expecting. I guess they're about twice as much as equivalent capacity gen 4 drives. Twice the speed, twice the price...? Seems reasonable

      Ha. That's happened to me before too. The stand off comes off the motherboard. You should have a tool included to sort that?
