See my Community tab for the thumbnail photo described: People have been asking where bassit Pookie (Brian Yale) was for this 5/28/2023 Irvine show. He was ill so "Whynot Jansveld" filled in for the night. Rob introduced him (the tallest guy in my photo) to the audience as he playfully joked that he's "A little too handsome for my taste, but I'll get over it." I did a little research on Whynot and learned that he played with the Wallflowers. I wonder if that was the reason opening act Mike Nathanson opened with "One Headlight"? I'm not familiar with Nathanson's music, so I did not record anything from him but I wish I did. He was very engaging with the audience and super funny!
I am seeing them in Atlanta July 2nd. Thank you for this! I have been listening to their set list all week and will until the concert. I can’t wait! I just need to get familiar with the new album. Who opens for them?
@@pamjarrett-s9s Rob's son Maison is in a band called The Lucky! They were the 1st openers at this show. After their set, I told my gf "he's a real good guitarist" and then the next day I found out it was his son. Enjoy your show!
My forth time seeing matchbox Twenty. The them. You had great seats. 2020 i had great seats....sold them back not knowing what was going to happen.😢 My seats this time were not as good.....but was their .....
I had OK seats. I guess in the middle of venue, a few rows behind the ADA area. Had better seats when I saw Rob's solo show in 2019. He surprised us by having Sammy Hagar come out to play guitar on Smooth! I got that on video :)
@@3VAudioVideo we were going to go to both but my dad went to the hospital, so missed the Riverside one. We are in coto. My parents are in Moreno valley.
They were incredible Sunday night. I was in a trance during If You're Gone. I never heard them play that version before but my goodness Kyle was shining on the guitar.
As others have replied, Pookie was ill. Replacement for that night was Whynot Jansveld. I put a photo of him and the band and wrote a description under my Community tab, if you want to learn more and see a better view of him.

I love how much paul is rocking out😂
Yes he was! I wish I could zoom in some more with my camera. I would've given him some more video time if I could! He was really into it!

They were incredible!!
Did you get anything from The Lucky? Rob's son is in the band.
the glow of lighters is all gone but the glow of the phones is here
Who’s playing bass here? He looks taller than Pookie….is it an optical illusion or just my eyes?
Pookie was sick. This guy filled in for the night. He did great
Same thing happened in Fresno, different guy though…learned the set in a 4 hour car ride from Los Angles
That Was Not Brian, He Filled In For Pookie

Who's the dude with short hair tall and glasses on guitar???
I wrote about him in my Community tab with a photo of him and the band. Whynot Jansveld is his name. He was great!
rob is like 5”8, 5”9 bass player probably 6”2 Paul is shorter than Rob
