... this video explains that when there is no Bill Miller or Vinnie Falcone on the piano at the time fired by Irv Cottler (just reading his book Frankly Speaking) Sinatra looks around wondering what accompaniment is this?
Despite the... slightly (or completely) oblivious conductor, the players, the band, as we would expect, sounds great. I believe that's the great George Duvivier on bass!
Terrible conducting here. Frank had to practically do it himself - first 0:50 - what's with the syncopated piano lick? (FS not sure if he's singing ahead or not) - From 1:40 - several attempts to cue the required ever-building crescendo - then from 3:11 they miss the diminuendo too, for good measure!!
he always liked to do some of that for show, but, yeah he was adding so much syncopation on the piano it was hard to tell what was going on. When Bill Miller came back, the first time I head the intro to One for My Baby it was clearly evident what Frank had been missing .

An example of the failure of the Joe Parnello tenure.

What are you talking about? The band did just fine. This is not a band he played with regularly. They were fine.
