When I was getting interested in boys, my mom always said, "Can you see him and his family sitting around the table with your family? Will he respect and care for your parents, aunts & uncles, grandparents? It worked. I've been married to a wonderful man for 47 years!

The most important advice I can give to Muslim parents is to rais your child with very strong self-confidence and they should always have friends like them with the same roles and cultural and with their American friends allows the to come home to your house and try to know their families too.
And when your son or daughter tells you a secret don’t judge them and you always say if I was you I will do this and that makes them trust you and be there for them they will always count on you. I raised three kids, I never told any of their secrets to their father they know right from wrong and they have to have conscious that God is there watching not me not dad.

I grew up catholic with pretty much the same rules and expectations. My parents decided to rule with an iron fist and all it did was ruin our relationship for years and make me leave our church. I think if they had sat down and actually had a conversation with me things would have turned out very differently and I probably would have followed all the rules and expectations. When our religions were established everyone got married during those early years of puberty. Now we wait to finish our educations but it makes those teenage years hard. I wish my parents had been willing to listen to my struggles without getting angry or punishing me. I hope that you can do that for Alaina.

Raising Alaina with a strong faith from a very young age will allow her to grow knowing that she doesn’t need a boyfriend/date to be satisfied, the love of Allah and the religion will surpass any boyfriend/dating thoughts. Women in Islam are honoured and respected, we don’t need a boyfriend to validate our existence. Proposal dating to know the guy should be around family members to make it halal. Anything oustide this boundary is against the teachings of Islam and it shouldn’t be taken lightheartedly.

In terms of raising kids it will be easier for them to adhere to their own religious beliefs if they think of them as their own. They need to have a relationship with God, they need to love Allah and Islam and modesty. Then it will be their choice to not have a boyfriend because they want to please Allah and they don't want to sin. So that means taking extra time to teach them the faith, read books about the prophet, go to Sunday school. Take your kids to the mosque. Have them join a Muslim youth group. Have other kids of the same age and gender who are Muslims as friends. Thats my advice.

I don't believe in types although I love blonde hair and blue eyes and that is what I got. I also had a dream I married a man with blond hair and blue eyes when I was a teen LOL Aside from that I'm still shocked I married him...it is beyond weird to me.

Giving benefit of doubt is probably too risky in a relationship before you go too far with a person!
One should not date except with a written friendship contract spelling out everything thats a yes, no, if, then, else, etc. so that it’s healthy!
If you don’t want to be awkward or intimate then spell it out because you may be lucky and privileged but there are many women who don’t feel or experienced the same! - at the least you can minimize bad behavior and with a contract you can sue for damages that are already agreed upon!

This comment isn't to attack anyone, just a clarification in case people get the wrong idea/ for anyone who may not know:
getting to know a potential spouse before marriage is allowed *with an appropriate chaperone* (preferably parents), whether it be for a month or a year. However dating in seclusion i.e. the potential spouses being alone with each other is not the correct way to go, according to the teachings of Islam.

My husband and I have 4 girls ages 11,9,7,5 so in my opinion it starts at home life. Even if you aren’t talking about dating and boys you have to teach them about our faith. Now in days kids have bf/gf at like 5 in kindergarten. These kids out here are hyper sexual and the media isn’t helping that’s why it’s so important to make sure your household is the way you want your kids to grow up it doesn’t happen overnight it has to start from a very young age.

The sad thing is society ends up having more influence on children than parents, because they’re at school for 8 hours, on social media for like 3 hours and with their friends for the rest of the time theyre awake. So if they dont turn out how you planned, its probably not your fault

I'm turning 20 in a couple of months and this is something that I've been thinking about more as i get older... there's no one in my family that around my age that i can talk to about these things and my close friends aren't muslim so its kind of hard for them to relate to the whole "dating for marraige" perspective. I have not the slightest clue about relationships or what to look for when getting into one and so listening to you guys has given me a better perspective about this. You girls are the older sisters that i don't have ... thanks so much for just being you... lots of love from South Africa 🇿🇦💖... (also loved the editing of the vlog 😂😘)

  • @luckyahmed200
    @luckyahmed200 2 года назад +89

Im not a parent but I think regarding Alaina and kids in general, if you explain the faith and answer their questions properly, for them dating won’t be a big deal, yeah they will have crushes but as Leena said, they won’t act on it and won’t feel left out that everyone else around them are in relationships. For bangladeshi households, they make you fear God and your family and then the kids are doing things behind their parents’ back and get into situations they shouldn’t be in.
For younger Muslims, It’s ok to date with the intention of marriage but while you find a potential partner, involve an adult you trust to know and give you halal advice. Some people will take advantage of you, be it boy or girl, and use and abuse you so becareful how you proceed

Assalam Alaikum, I love all the Asad sister's videos, I don't think I've heard any profanity used ever which I love as i hate the sound of profanity.
I agree with some points you sister's have made, however I disagree with dating before marriage as a Muslim, as this really does go against Islam. I agree that you should get to know a potential spouse, within the Islamic guidelines. I know living in the West it can be hard, as many young people don't want their parents hovering over them. However, this is only for our benefit. Remember Allah Almighty has not obligated something, except that it is for our own good and to protect us from harm. SubhanAllah
Think about it if you date a guy who says he's interested in marriage, he could just tell you a bunch of lies and waste your time, as is the case a lot of the times. Also, you may think that no physical contact will happen but an 'innocent hug' could very quickly turn into something more and it doesn't matter whether your in public or secluded , your still alone. The Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No man is alone with a woman but the Shaytaan will be the third one present.”
My advice to any sisters reading this comment is to first and foremost make sincere dua to Allah Almighty. Remember He is The Only One Who will grant you a righteous spouse and He is The Only One Who puts the Love between you,
And it is among His signs that He has created for you wives from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them, and He has created love and kindness between you. Surely in this there are signs for a people who reflect. The Holy Quran Surah 30 Verse 21
I would let your parents know that your interested in getting married before even meeting anyone as this would make your parents feel happy that you are letting them know before anything, and if you do meet someone to tell your parents straight away as there shouldn't be any secrets, if this man seriously wants to marry you he would immediately want to speak to your father, any man that avoids the topic of getting family involved should be avoided, as he is clearly showing his true motives, please don't fall for any of his excuses.
Sisters Islam has honored you, why are you degrading yourself for a little boy who can't even speak to your father.
If a man likes you, tell him to go talk to your dad, if you like a man tell your dad to talk to him, simple
Start your marriage by obeying Allah Almighty and you will have a blessed marriage.
    JazakAllah
sending love and prayers always xxx

Personally I kinda disagree but also agree I don't think u need to date like specifically u can learn from other peoples mistakes and their dating life to avoid u getting heartbreak and feeling miserable ( a very specific reason why dating is haraam is because it doesn't benefit us and ALLAH Azawajal only wants the best for us therefore those things which may hurt us are impermissible eg dating, drinking, drugs etc ) and then wen u genuinely think u like someone and want to get to know them then ofc do it in a halal manner like how leena says with boundaries ie no physical touchin at all and a THIRD PERSON (which is v important) but most importantly the intention of marriage should be their and then within a year or so if all works out then go ahead with marriage cuz ofc u do hav to GET TO KNOW THEM but it shouldn't be "dating" as such rather a more halal manner getting to know someone, BECAUSE U need to see if u wanna pursue a future with them :)) anyways I loved this Vido and the podcast format style! I agree with this, as a practicing Catholic Christian we also have boundaries of no intimacy before marriage, and dating is ok in the sense that you can eat out in a restaurant and talk, but not more than that, there is wisdom in it as many women are heartbroken after giving themselves to their boyfriends who end up leaving

Ok so I got to the end of the video and agreed with most of what you guys said.
However the attraction thing I don’t agree with. I’ve encountered many people who had “arranged” type of marriages so they didn’t initially think wow I want to rip his clothes off in terms of attractiveness however the attraction builds as they get to know the person, their beautiful qualities, manners make the person appear more attractive.
On the other hand I’ve seen people get with the person they find absolutely gorgeous and then over time they’ve become less attracted to them because of their personality or bad habits. I think it’s always worth giving the not so gorgeous guy a chance.
It’s like with girls, sometimes we see a girl and think meh she’s ok but as we get to know her she appears more beautiful because of her mannerisms and other personality traits ♥️🦃

Thank you for speaking about this. I am a revert (of 9 years) and was raised to have morals and values of respecting myself, but not a religious home. This meant I was freely dating without a worry, and my family were always welcoming and accepting. As a muslim now, I want to raise my children similarly to me, because my parents were open with me and we had a mutual respect for one another, I never disrespected them or myself and only ever had one Partner (who i am now married to) however so many girls i know who grew up in muslim households rebelled due to overly strict rules with no explanation to their kids. My best friend is muslim and East African- she got pregnant out of wedlock and so many people i know have been through this too. Its hard- and its so nice having women who have clearly been raised to have morals which support our religion, but not strict where they need to rebel. Thank you for showing the world we can be Muslim, fun and free!! 🥰

The talk was really beneficial and informative but I would just like to say that actually an engagement in Islam was actually made for a couple to get to know each other and it’s nothing but a future promise for marriage that is actually supposed to be very low key however some cultures have turned it into an actual marriage. So it really depends on our view of what an engagement is. I think that if we just actually do an Islamic engagement there wouldn’t really be a problem and couples would actually get to know each other in different contexts as intended.

I‘m 27 and I’m a German Muslim of Turkish heritage. My Turkish family always told me that I’m only allowed to marry a Turkish guy and said that all other nationalities are „dirty“ (yes, my family is Muslim 🥲). This has hurt and traumatised me so much that I decided not to get married as I feel like they care more about their reputation and roots then my happiness in a (halal) marriage. Life feels lonely sometimes as my friends are getting married or non-Muslim friends are in relationships but it’s okay. I just try to have sabr and focus on myself and caring and loving myself.

I hated it so much but to be able to get into a potential relationship working towards a marriage that’s the only way to go these days. Even if you get introduced by your parents you eventually have to get to now them by yourselfthrough talking and whatever. The whole talking stage is sooo hard for me. All advice is welcome

And concepts like ( girlfriend or boyfriend) aren't in our religion.. I'm 18 and I totally understand this.. & I'm happy cuz I know dating or (engagement ) starts when u are physically and mentally ready to get married .. At my teenage years I just have to focus on being a good human, developing myself , knowing more abt the world and focusing on my studies to be a good human ,good wife and good mom in the future.
