LoadingReadyRun, being internet comedians, post their documentary on RUclips. This allows fans to post comments, such as this one, both to boost engagement metrics for RUclips’s algorithm and to let LRR know they’ve made an excellent video.
I "Liked" this comment, and now I am commenting on how I liked it. This will further increase engagement.
@@clencheastwood1571And I am responding to the wrong person, as I get unnecessarily angry and disagree with some of the semantics and wording of the original comment.
I chime in with an agreement with both the original statement, and the statement on engagement
I am replying to your comment to show that I agree with it, because while I, too, wish to add more comments and thus more engagement, I do not otherwise have anything particularly novel or interesting to say about the video itself.
This comment is being replied to because I, another commenter, had a similar sentiment that I wanted to express, but thought that saying the same thing in an entire other comment would be redundant, so I found a like-minded individual to reply to and show support for.
Man, I think about a week ago, I was thinking how I kinda missed y'alls longer form sketches, and it's so good to see that you still got it.
Those sketches were the reason I started watching LLR and honestly the main reason I still keep up with them. I hope some day there will be more of the sketches, Firday Nights, and Commodore Hustle.
Having the J-cut be "Using a J-cut" was the best possible way to get me to remember what the hell a J-cut is.
I was about to ask what makes it a "J-cut". That cut didn't seem to stand out in any way that I could discern.
@@christopherlundgren1700 noti e that Graham's audio starts before the video transition. This signals that he is following Paul's chain of thought
The bit about how they had already made this documentary before literally made me go "OH MY GOD". Absolutely perfect
But, but the meta?!
@@greendoodily There are many layers of meta and this is a documentary about documenting all the meta. Which is very meta.
The little bit about the previous doc adds a really nice additional meta layer without removing the fact that this is a remake
This is super fun
This sould be shown in film classes all over the world, the breakdown of the structure is so exceptionally well done.
I will use at least part of this in English class.
Ah, yes. "Ze meta-joke. Ze fourth wall shatters. Like your expectations."
I thought there wouldn't really be anywhere new to go with this sketch, but I was so wrong. This was the perfect sketch to remake.
One minute in, and this is probably the most meta thing I've ever seen.
This is exactly what I wanted out of a remake for this sketch! The original concept polished and updated with LRR's current level of skill. I never actually liked the original very much because I felt it leaned too hard on the one meta-joke, but I love this because it really expands on that idea and plays more in the space.
In all honesty, this is such a well-done meta breakdown of documentaries in such a relatively short span of time that it should be used as a jumping-off-point video for film school lectures.
I have to admit I had no idea that this would be as good as it was after watching the original; I thought a remake would just be, you know, a rehash of the previous material, but this recontextualization has, instead of merely adding to the humor, actually multiplied it to its own power, to create a sort of humor vortex.
I never saw the original so this skit is completely new to me, so holy crap that was some great editing.
Soooo good. And great to have so much Paul on screen
Hello ~Paul
When commenting on a documentary, it is important that you express how much you already knew about the subject, such as your tenure as an LRR fan and if you've previously viewed the original piece, but also that you add in any new information you have gleaned, such as commenting on the much improved filming location, so as to not appear too all-knowing.
I wish my sweaters held up as well after 20 years as Paul's has.
Ahh, this brings back memories of early Lrrcovery, where I'd have found you guys, then spent the next month working my way through the archives, starting with this one.
Another thing about this documentary is that viewers are able to leave their comments regarding the content. That wasn't mentioned in the video, presumably because the documentary was about itself, and not about the webpage it's on.
OMG, I felt so many nostalgic feelings watching the credits roll. And I love how y'all updated the documentary to reflect current trends in documentary filmmaking which have become norms over the last 20 years of RUclipsrs who haven't been to film school making their own documentaries. :D
I had never seen this sketch before the bracket, but when I finally saw it? I fell in love!! ❤
The Quantum Documentary: Life of a Sweater
Absolutely perfect. When everyone in chat saw the original, we just knew it had to have an update. For once, chat got it right. >_
Anyone else catch that Paul is wearing the same sweater/ shirt as the original 😂
While watching this documentary, I was watching this documentary.
Many many years ago, I took the opportunity to ask LRR, "If you could go back to one of your videos from before you did stingers at the end, and add a stinger to it, which video would it be?"
and they answered "probably Quantum Documentary"
so I'd like to think I contributed in some very small way to how this turned out. :D
This is a commentary reply in response to a publicly posted video about a remake of a completely self-referential documentary skit.
By posting this comment, I am engaging the RUclips algorithm and encouraging it to show more content like this documentary.
This comment relays enjoyment and appreciation on behalf of the commenter, as well as signalling engagement to the algorithm. Furthermore, it brings attention to the importance of Trans Rights.
This is a comment, which is meant to engage in the mechanics of RUclips, the current prevalent online video distribution site as of 2023. Its meant for fans to document their thoughts, but also tells RUclips if this video is engaging enough to recommend it to more and more viewers.
Is Paul actually wearing the same exact sweater as in the original?
Exact same
I am commenting on the fact that I am indeed the first person to make a comment on this video, therefore giving me an empty sense of success, and fueling and competitive nature, although deep down I know I am probably not going to be first.
I needed this Documentary to better understand Reality. Now all I need is the Documentary explaining about reality while also being in reality for me to truly understand everything. Thank you LRR for bringing me one step closer to understanding.
This is a comment where someone that enjoys this video would remark on its quality. It was considered necessary as it is difficult to convey this sentiment through a like only.
I love how Paul has the same sweater
There are many, many good additions compared to the original, but i think my favourite is the j-cut joke. No doubt, that’s because i learned about what they are from the Crapshoot
This is cool almost as a guide for how to make a documentary
More of a guide on how to make the most stereotypical documentary.
oh super cool to see a documentary about this documentary! I was actually just watching this documentary, so it's good to get more insight on this documentary, so I actually opened this documentary in another tab so I could go back and forth to each part of this documentary as this documentary gets to it
Is Paul wearing... the exact same sweater as the original??
so glad that there's now money in the tarp budget for people's heads to literally exploder.
Wow one of the few LRR sketches I don't recall ever seeing! This feels even more surreal as I feel like I "should" know the original! Honestly gives me so much nostalgia just hearing the theme
Man, I remember stumbling across the original all those years ago. Thank you for remaking the earliest video I remember seeing you in.
I have to say that this has been one of the most informative documentaries i have watched in a while.
I hope this gets shown to first year media studies students at least somewhere
Hooray! Spot the Dog made it! Very good!
Don't forget the close up eye shutting.
The reference to the OG documentary was just icing on the cake.
What no interviewee that voices disagreement or an alternative take/theory?
I both hate and love you guys, and that's what this comment is about, lol.
The editors are trying to push a specific narrative.
😉
Delightful, and a perfect choice for a "remake."
I'm glad Spot snuck in there too! :)
I appreciate Paul's sweater.
I am looking forward to quantum ^3 in 2044
So this is a comment I'm making on the documentary video wherein I express my opinions about the video that I just finished watching, and those opinion are joyful. A good couple of moments made me lol during the course of the video which I express in this comment in the form of a common online acronym which stands for "laugh out loud." I express my delight at how this video is both playful and comedic in its explanatory format which is primarily purposed for the comedy value of a video explaining itself. Finally, I conclude my comment in a somewhat pretentiously obvious manner in a medium which commonly does not need nor require a conclusion.
The original was my first LRR video, so I'm obviously glad it got remade, especially remade so excellently to be about both itself AND itself.
I regret to inform you that for the sake of poetic completion, you are not allowed to watch any more LRR videos. Not even to rewatch. This was your last. Celebrate your perfect loop.
Perfection lmao
This is some Stanley Parable level chicanery going on right now! Also, *_I WAS 11 WHEN LRR STARTED?!?_*
Will you release a “making of” for the documentary that is about documentaries?
Yes, there will be a Loading Time for it. They said during the subathon that they did film behind the scenes stuff.
@@snowcookiemedia but will there be a Loading Time about the Loading Time, so we can get a behind-the-scenes look at how they captured and edited the behind-the-scenes footage?
Woo ;D
Touché everyone. Touché. Excellence and perfection in all things as always.
" 'Paul?!' "
I love this. SO. MUCH. This has me giggling over my breakfast and I'm decidedly NOT a morning person.
I love the detail of Graham saying that it was an anecdote that he IS GOING to enjoy. 😂
3:26 So, question to anyone who can read lips; what is Paul saying here?
Alternatively, LLR crew; what does the script have Paul saying here that we cant hear?
I understand that this is a joke and all but this is one of those things that really annoys me; not knowing what a character is saying because (LOUD NOISE) or (TECHNICAL ISSUE) and so on.
Thanks for the video.
YO DAWG! I heard you like documentaries. So I got you a documentary so your documentary could have a documentary while you had a documentary.
IDK if you guys watched Community back when that show was on TV, but Abed Nadir would've absolutely loved this.
I am looking forward to the next episode: "Documentary of Solace" in twenty years. I'll be 80! 👴👴👴
I effing love you guys for this: The only Remake that is also a Sequel!
The first LRR video I ever saw was How to talk like a Pirate, but when I saw the Quantum Dokumentary the first time, I knew I struck gold... and this was ... 15 years ago ... wtf?
Posting this comment after watching the documentary from start to finish helps support what contemporary audiences commonly refer to as "the algorithm" in the futile hope that the platform on which this video is hosted boosts visibility on the aforementioned documentary, thereby supporting the creators both financially through increased ad revenue, and mentally through creative affirmation
This documentary really reminds me of Dan Bull's "How to make a "How To" video" video, though had I seen the original before the remake it would be Dan Bull's video that reminded me of this.
This comment provides engagement, so that an algorithm may predict whether this video should be shown to additional viewers.
(It should. It absolutely should.)
This has been a 10/10 remake I cannot wait for the others.
This is one cerebral skit.
I saw it back in 2004 and am pleased to see that while the crew grew, the humor did as well ;)
This made the good brain chemicals fizz 😁
Huh. This somehow perfectly represents my brain on drugs.
My favorite LRR sketch since the Yon Koma(sp?) episode of Commodore Hustle
It's fantastic to watch what 20 years of skill building and professional development and career advancement and company growth can do!
I always say this about LRR, but I adore how they are an argument for honing a craft. Practice has polished them to a mirror shine.
Well done on the remakes! Can't wait for the others!
Enjoyed this, good one to remake. Glad it was one I’d totally forgotten about rather than one clear in my memory!
Nothing will top “drs hate her” though. It’s only a shame you have to remember those ads to get it. Cam as the “surgeon general” well filmed, in the era of ‘we’ve got a dolly now BUT have gotten slightly more restrained in its use.’ Chef kiss 😘
I don't have anything really insightful to add with this comment, but it's great to see how you've grown in 20 years.
Damn... I sometimes forget just how skilled you guys are.
Thanks to this video, I'm now a professional documenteer
This is a Thank You for having made that spectacular and silly video. This is an afterthought punchline that is excessive.
"the mic we were using actually cut out, and then I was still talking, but nobody could understand what I was saying and so there was just complete silence. And you could be wearing headphones, but it's silent at this point"
About right? 😂
This is a comment on the video, the quality, and overall entertaining nature of it. It was also originally posted in 2004.
Grahm always looks like he just woke up from hybernation
This was basically a more engaging "how to" video to make documentaries, good show, good show
I think this ia the level of meta I have come to understand almost exclusively because of how much LRR I've consumed over the past decade.
This is a post about a watcher's positive viewing experience.
It includes an anecdotal sharing of having enjoyed the referenced original documentary when it released, as well as looking forward to witnessing any future documentaries referencing this one.
This is super awesome. I think these days we'd call it meta rather than quantum, but you executed the concept so perfectly.
When I made this comment, I had just finished watching this video. It took longer than I expected, even considering I had liberal use of commas and only three sentences. This last sentence is here to round out a mild application of the Rule of 3, and also to end this comment sharply.
L-mao
Sometimes, fans comment on videos to boost engagement numbers. This helps their favorite creators, but probably not as much as a more egalitarian and transparent video recommendation system and revenue sharing model implemented by RUclips.
Nostalgia done correctly, but I think it already knows that.
I'm at the very moment cutting a long-form investigative piece, and I feel called out by this video.
OK, but how tempting was it to go back and and edit the original sketch, and use a bit of AI trickery, to have it make a reference to this new version?
I'm engaging because nobody knows a better way to get the recommendation algorithm to work.
This made me laugh just as much as the original. So happy you're doing this!
Documentaries don't usually have internet weirdos shitposting in the comments, but this one does!
And then they went and they read the comments, and were generally pretty pleased with both the quality and positivity of those comments.
DocuMETAry was right there guys.
This deserves some sort of award. Its absolute cinema.
After watching this documentary about itself, this viewer then decided he would leave a comment on it, saying that is was a great documentary and self referencing of it is their favourite style of comedy. He also gave it a like, but not a subscribe, as he was already subscribed to the channel
