    Rud álainn, go hiontach ar fad. My kids are Irish speakers and their cousins are Welsh speakers, our families found this very moving. We need to hear more of this. Both languages are so distinct but they blend seamlesssly to the ear. Two of the oldest existing European tongues (bar Basque). Ní neart go cur le chéile, níos mó le do thoil! Gabh mo leithscéal (sorry), but I can't write anything in Welsh.

    Last March, days before the initial lockdown, Lurgan & Urdd Gobaith Cymru launched a partnership with the aim of coproducing Gaeilge/Cymraeg projects involving young people from both organizations.
    Covid restrictions meant that our initial workcamp planned for Conamara last summer could not happen. To affirm our commitment to this highly exciting project Urdd & Lurgan have produced this new year remotely produced colab which clearly demonstrates the comradery, affinity and commonality of both organizations.
    We look forward our first, in person, recording, videoing workcamp here in Indreabhán, Conamara in late summer 2021 (Cúrsa D).

      Just curious how similar are Welsh and Breton? can you understand much of the Welsh part of the song?

    • @yokren29
      @yokren29 3 года назад +8

      @@j.obrien4990 I can understand some words in Welsh. In the song, I think that : yma = emañ (be somewhere or being), 'n = 'n/an (the), ti = ti (house), iawn = yaouank (young), ac = hag (and), heb = hep (without). I can see similar words in lyrics. But it's more easy with Cornish. Breton, Welsh and Cornish are from the same Celtic family of languages : the Brythonic family. But inside this family, there ara 2 parts : West and Southwestern brythonic. Breton and Cornish are in Southwestern part.

    Good on you boyos to take on this endeavor. Maybe the colonies can reclaim their language and the rest of their heritage. Now if we can get Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, and Wales to join maybe you can imitate us Yanks and toss them out of your lands.

    • @mallon201
      @mallon201 2 года назад +2

      Three quarters of Ireland tossed them out a hundred years ago,
      small country defeating the biggest empire in the world at the time.
      Was an inspiration to many other colonies to fight for their freedom.
      Many did, empire doesn't exist today. Anyhow this is wrong forum
      for that type of talk. Languages that were forbidden by foreigners,
      nearly erased from memories, are to be celebrated and spoken.
      these young people in organisations like TG Lurgan and their
      counterparts in Wales and Scotland and Cornwall are doing
      an amazing job through the medium of music and dance in
      popularising these languages once again.
      They deserve every ones support.
