    This is a beautiful testament to the Irish language. It's only the young people who will keep it alive. Thank god for them and their care for the language.

      Marshall Raven I know its beautiful lends itself brilliantly to music ( ceol ) and poetry , as well as endearments as well like what my Da called me when I was tiny my little caeilin ( my little girl ) . About the only thing you can’t do is swear in it or any of the Celtic languages really , curse and insult someone yes swear no speaking of the above it is an art form in and of itself really .

    Celtic languages certainly lend themselves to song, don't they?

    • @michelleflood8220
      @michelleflood8220 5 лет назад +1

      David Kelly yes they do brilliantly Irish definitely does as does the gaidhlig of Scotland heard many a runrig song ( Scottish band that sing as bearla agus gaidhlig ) haven’t heard anyone sing in welsh but I can imagine it does as well Tolkien certainly thought enough of it to base his elvish language for LOTR on it if that’s a indication of its beauty !

      22grena agree totally Erin go Bragh , learning it at the moment much love from an Irish Australia lass by that I mean I'm of Irish descent( 90% of my ancestry ) mainly Tipperary ( tiobrad Arann) and Cavan

    • @michelleflood8220
      @michelleflood8220 5 лет назад

      22grena unfortunately I’ve learnt the north doesn’t educate its youth in the Irish language at least not full time its only on a voluntary basis at present . Had the achta na gaeilge passed in stormont it might have been a different story might be different in donegal the Gaeltacht for the Ulster dialect I’m not sure but even if this were the case donegal is whilst geographically in Ulster is governed by the dail in Dublin so wouldn’t affect the six counties in any way ! From what I know of this dialect it bears more resemblance to the gaidhlig of Scotland than the other two dialects that exist . Unlike Scotland’s Gaeltachts the dialects directly correspond to the provinces for example the Munster ones are in cork , Kerry and Waterford and Connaughts are in Sligo and mayo respectively . And even though both countries have equal population ( 5.5 million for both ) the speakers of Irish far outweigh the speakers of gaidhlig I put that down to it being taught to the children from a young age the same isn’t the case for Scottish children though it’s changing at present .

    Ó Leaids!! Tá Amhrán nua agam dóibh á dhéanamh!!! -----------------> High Hopes ó Kodaline!! Súil Ard no Dochais mór?!? Rud mar sin? Sea ach tá súúúúúúúúúúúúúúúil móoooooooooooor ann. Tóg sé mé ar ais ar an (chun?) tús!
    Buidéil briste ins' an Óstán Fáiltiú,
    .............
    Or I love Kodaline's other song All I Want. Would love to hear that in Irish.
    There's another word I think beginning with F that might describe a Reception-area that might fit better than Fáiltiú but I can't think of it now. It's not freastal, it's something else, that'll drive me mad now till I think of it!
