  • Join us as we follow the incredible rescue of a 3-month-old orphaned bear cub by the dedicated forest department personnel from the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary in Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh.
A team of officials, led by Dr. Kabuk Lego, Range Forest Officer, successfully rescued the female bear cub after receiving information about her situation. Initially observed at the Roing Mini Zoo, the cub was then transferred to the Central Bear Rehabilitation Centre (CBRC) in Seijosa, Pakke Kessang, where she will be nurtured until she can hunt on her own.
The rescue mission took place in Tezu, where a concerned individual found the cub wandering on the DT Road along the Tezu-Hayuliang Road. This Himalayan Black Bear, also known as the Asiatic Black Bear, is native to the Eastern Himalayas and Southwestern China. Classified as vulnerable by the IUCN, listed under CITES Appendix I, and protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, this species faces significant conservation challenges.
