    The timing of this video is unbelievable - I just started researching lav mics 2 days ago and came across the rode wireless II and DJI mic, and I think the DJI is the way to go 👍 The facts that the receiver syncs to my camera and I don’t need other software for accessing the audio were major factors

      - it has been out for a year and a half - pardon the slight 6 month exaggeration. I had another system before that but each mic level couldn’t be set individually. The DJI mic has been a huge help for my events.

      @@SGAndyAng - the initial Rode system was not able to adjust the mics independently - if they have done an update I am not aware. The audio from the DJI mic has been so good that the Rode system was warehoused. Individual mic control is a game changer. If they have updated it was a wise move but late in the game.

  • @PoetryFilms
    @PoetryFilms Год назад +16

    I’ve been puzzled about reviews for this mic, including this one, and how they don’t mention its best feature. If you turn on the ‘backup record’ you not only get a ‘backup’ audio file but you get a continuous audio file (and the chronological narrative that often implies) with which to re-sequence the video (and audio) clips captured by your camera. (Remember your camera only records audio when Record is on.) THIS is the game-changing feature for one-person videographers, to capture the whole story in audio from the outset so you can concentrate on the often short and distinct video clips you choose to lay over it or part of it.

    • @thefirsttrillionaire2925
      @thefirsttrillionaire2925 11 месяцев назад

      So basically always have the backup record on?

    • @PoetryFilms
      @PoetryFilms 11 месяцев назад +2

      Absolutely. It costs nothing even if you don’t use it but can be hugely helpful if your camera is just recording short clips (video and audio) that you then have to assemble into some kind of narrative.

    • @thefirsttrillionaire2925
      @thefirsttrillionaire2925 10 месяцев назад

      @@PoetryFilms cool! I just bought one with the gimbal! Do I need to manually enable the setting or is it automatic? Edit: Nevermind I saw where he says you just have to hit a button and you’re good to go! I wonder if it drains the battery faster though.

    • @PoetryFilms
      @PoetryFilms 10 месяцев назад

      @@thefirsttrillionaire2925 provided you’re more or less up to date on the unit’s firmware, if you go into TX Settings you should see an option for Backup Recording which you should switch to ON. Also, beside that setting to the left, is a very handy setting to lock record on the transmitters. This means you can use the Record button on either of the transmitters to initiate recording but you can only stop from the receiver - very handy if there’s any chance you or your subject might accidentally turn off a recording in progress. In fact the only reason not to have this option set to on is if you are working with one transmitter (and no receiver) as a tiny mobile recorder, in which case you might wish to be able to stop and start recording on the move. Good luck with it.

    If you record with an iPhone, this may not be the mic for you. The receiver attaches directly to the lightning port with an adapter and doesn't allow review playback with audio on the phone without unplugging. Unplugging and replugging can lead to misalignment of the adapter and even though the light meters show recording, it may not be. We lost 1/2 day of audio on an outdoor project because of this. It also has very small buttons on the transmitters and a sensitive touch menu on the receiver. We are constantly removing our mics as we work a project and any handling of the receiver or transmitter can lead to unintentional setting changes. We sent them back after using them for one day and went back to our trusty Rode Wireless Go II mics. DJIs have great sound and are very small and light, but we didn't work for us and the type of recording we do.....probably best for studio or a very controlled outdoor environment.

    Be Advised:
    We've been using this mic for several months now. We bought it because of its high reviews AND its versatility - usable with aux, iPhone, and Android. HOWEVER, you do not get stereo recording when using it with the lightning port mod. That is SO frustrating...... sometimes you need to mute one of the mics in post but can't since it is a mono recording. Other than that we've been very satisfied. Oh, and the battery life is insane!

    Hi, does anyone know if there a wireless bluetooth microphone that DOESN’T require a transmitter/receiver/dongle that attaches to the recording device, and can connect directly to the device’s bluetooth? It would ideally work similarly to how a wireless bluetooth headset would, just without the audio output, only audio input.
    The reason I ask, is because either the dongle or the device port where it’s inserted is prone to damage each time I insert/remove it.

      Yes, it works with GoPros. However, GoPro cameras do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack built into them. So, in order to use this microphone, you'd have to get the GoPro Media Mod. The Media Mod has a 3.5 mm audio jack.
      Or you can use the original GoPro Microphone Adapter. But be aware that it is relatively heavy and bulky and you would need another special case to hold both the GoPro and the Microphone Adapter.

    I'm looking into getting an external mic for my GoPro Hero11. I'm wondering if the dji will help in my not so loud voice. I tend to speak soft. I can be loud and deep cause I'm a Marine wooohoo. So, any help is appreciated. Tank you and great video btw.

    Nolan, this is timely as I was just researching the DJI and getting ready to purchase. Which lapel wired lav mic do you suggest for plugging in to the DJI? I have tried some inexpensive ones that were terrible, and need a suggestion. Thanks
