Okay
Okay
thanks
saw this on his tiktok originally
I was really hoping that that video would also show where the sound at the very beginning of the song came from. I'm really curious ⊙O⊙
My man sampled his own unreleased track
@Sean very true, and the vocal chop samples were from Amy Millian on said track
You'd be surprised how many artists do that, actually. Most artists claim that their work isn't ever really done, it just escapes them. That's why VIPs have become so popular in the electronic community, artists just wanna keep revising and tweaking and building upon previous work
He also made a collab with his other channel
That's why you should never delete your unfinished projects, you can sample it later on
It's named recycle
Really wish this was finished, her voice is insane on this

@@ApetheWizard ? Bro. The vocalist is Sarah from Kero Kero Bonito
@@ApetheWizard wtf
@@ApetheWizard is Sarah a trans man? Did I miss something?
@@prod.electrostatic1030 no sarah's not trans (at least afaik). i think noah got confused because sarah sings on the original sample/demo but porter sings in musician so maybe he thought OP was talking about porter's singing?
Wow that unreleased song sounds like something that was created in heaven.
Maclunkey!
yeee likely
I mean Sarah and Porter working together? Yeah, I think that's pretty much like Heaven.
Porter said kkb and him ended up making a hymn like literally about God so heavenly is a good way to explain it
a lot of edm producers unreleased songs are much better than their released versions (looking at Skrillex)
Holy shit that’s so cool

How do you do music?
Well it's easy:
HAHA nice one
duh, just face your fears and become your heroes?????
honestly i don’t understand why you’re freaking out 🙄🙄🙄
But then you sighed
Just do what you need to
But I don't wanna see you
Wasting your life..
Isn't it time you get a job?
How can you even think to sample like that, true genius, reminds me of how daft punk used to chop up vocals
Daft Punk were even one of his musical inspirations in general. But believe me, they did not only chop up vocals
daft punk was porter inspirational and do influence him a lot tho
Porter was heavily inspired by daft punk so it wouldn’t be surprising if this was the case
Vocal chop is pretty common technique in edm production
@@sau3627 i know, almost every todays track has vocal chops
The 2019 demo song is also unironically so good...
do you mean unironically?
@@robsmith8386 ah yes...
KKB only makes good songs
Agreed
Unironically ?????
My favorite instrument is Sarah Bonito's voice
For those who want the lyrics:

so why’s it so hard
to say what’s real

@@kuuly3334 this is a super classic sample, "it takes two"
Ong that bit sounds like someone speedrunning a game where cutting 3 seconds from your time is done by restarting an npcs dialogue
@@blasemusha4001 it was actually originally sampled from “Lyn Collins - Think (About It)”. It’s still very popular among producers in the Drum & Bass world to this day. It’s more commonly known as the “Think Break”

update: little disappointed that he didn't drop it on nurture.

who else is just endlessly being recommended this despite having already watched it several times?
@restless_rat u rite, u rite.
The best thing that makes Musician such a cool track, is its about becoming a musician, or the things a starter musician would do to begin their journey.
Most EDM musicians start by using samples that were already made and edit them.
This sample
The "Woo Yeah" in the second verse comes from an older classic rap song
And the metronome at the beggining, because let's face it, timing is hard to master when you're a beginner.
Not just that but lyrically, it talks about how hard it is to be a proper musician, but also how beautiful it is once you get somewhere with it.
Great track with great meaning.
@Враги thanks for diving deep into the samples
@Враги i cant believe its literally just called the woo yeah break
@@chronos7554I know this was a year ago, but it's also called the Think break.
This is my first time seeing how he crafts his music and the way he can make random samples sound so vibrant. And the fact that he uses a unreleased track shows that no matter what he puts aside, he still can find value in his previous works. Compared to me, I would cringe at the works I’ve done in the past.
I'm so relieved to see you said you shed a tear because this actually made me cry. Musician means so much to me.
you should see how daft punk and Kanye samples.
Oh stfu lmao hes just human
@@jackieburkhart3268 Kanye and DP are both gods in their own respective ways! Sampling art is just cool lol
@@LoofySookie it is! giving songs that were less popular a fresh coat of paint really pays a homage to the legends who created the original tracks.
This is so inspiring actually!
He saved unreleased stuff, went back to it after awhile, and reworked it to make something new and amazing
Doesn’t sound like much but I love the thought of how creativity can take time and still become something incredible
The simplicity always gets me. All you have to do is find it
reminds me of what skrillex did with a lot of his early stuff , first of the year, with you friends, needed change, most of the gypsyhook ep, and slats slats slats just to name a few
Dude I thought the same! Especially in Wind Tempos, reminds me alot of With You Friends
@@skrillex9090againAJ Man I could discuss With You Friends for days. I've been trying to decipher where those vocal chops came from for years. Likely the "All my love"/reversed version of that sample came from a mysterious rendition of All I Ask of You by Sonny himself, but the other syllables don't match up to any part of the song from what I can tell, meaning there must be some other content that it came from. One possibility I've found is the track Mora, which has a very similar tonality, and parts may have been pitched shifted and chopped from that. Several syllables and words like the drawn out "You" match up almost perfectly with Mora, as well "on your knees" which may match up with the syllables from With You Friends that at first glance sound like "graaa- on your knees"........oh what I would give to have an animation breakdown like this video for each sample in With You Friends.
It's really mind-blowing to see this clip. Just makes you go "HOW?"
I don't know why but this revelation made me smile just as much as listening to any of Porter's other songs
your sample cut was not the hard part, the hard part was convincing yourself to make this 6 hour animation, BRuv
love the drums on musician, sounds really light but hits so hard
crazy that this is the video that introduced me to Porter’s music
Porter Robinson is a genius.
Imagine this unreleased sample is the intro song of nurture and leads into musician, it would be so epic.
“Love is falling away, so why is it so hard to say what’s real or imagined…”
NAH BRO U BECOME MUSICIAN.
Idk why but this is actually really satisfying to watch
Mindblown
Why is this not released? This sounds like it's amazing just from the 10 seconds here. The full song is probably amazing. Kind of surprised it wouldn't be on Nurture. I know it turned into Musician in the end, but this sounds like it would have been great.
i feel you, many other producers not just porter, their unreleased songs are god damn insane, and they just decided to push it back in the corner, never play it again
WHERE IS THE FULL VERSION OF THIS, I NEED IT, IT CALMS ME DOWN. It's just.. it sounds very calm.. and it's like one of those songs that you feel like someone is head patting you while you are having a bad day..
Musician by porter robinson
@@memoriasdeattakai yeah I know but I want the full version of this melody instead.
@@kukki2107 it's an unreleased song
sarah has such a beautiful voice good god i need that demo to be an official single so bad
Finally my youtube algorithm showing like this
I dont know how many times i come to this video, listening the unreleased part again and again, so wonderful
I can’t get over this!! I keep replaying this so much! He finds the beauty in so many things. It’s incredible!
One particular detail I really like about “musician”’s remixed samples is the second to last sample literally holding the word “imagine”, which further emphasizes the song’s meaning. While the rest are cuts of words, this word stays relatively intact when pitched and you can hear it in the actual song. Idk I just think it adds even more personality to the final piece that you can hear “imagine” pop up with the rest of the lyrics
Instantly reminded me of Daft Punk
van more tiiiiii
The clip as a whole sounds so beautiful itself. The creativity to vocal chop anything and make something brand new is so genius.
Seriously when you nail something like this you get that sense of motivation to get those samples into something bigger I love the wonders of music production
you mean to tell me there's a KKB x Porter Robinson tune just gathering dust in the vault?? the world is an unjust place
i literally cried bc everytime i make vocal chop it never work
Same
Same here 😔😔
What a magneficent work of art! Now I can learn more on how to create my very own EDM music, Thank you Mr Porter Robinson!
this puts a smile on my face. brilliant!
Fucking genius
This so cool! More musicians should do things like this, give their fans visualizations into how their music was made.
coming again to this masterpiece
Would love to hear a full version of this
I can't unhear this lol. It's amazing
Thx for the quick vid reup
i wish the track was released, it really sounded amazing
IS THIS WHAT INSPIRED “BLOSSOM”?? THE MELODY SOUNDS REALLY SIMILAR, thats one of my favourite nurture songs
I found this magical.
Great job Porter.
I love you thank you for this video
the unedited sample highly resembles the song called schnuffelienchen - küss mich, halt mich, lieb mich
This is some Daft Punk level sampling
this is my new favorite video

the way my eyes slowly widened as i realized what was going on
Even fragments of which was left unused can be made into parts of a masterpiece.
Daft Punk Level Sampling right here
It's 10 times watching this video and I don't get tired
Bro the unreleased song sounds so gooooood, its like making a scene in my mind and my heart idk why
This gave me goosebumps
This honestly makes me have even more respect for porter here, in he midst of getting thru a creative rut like he was in, he literally saw and made a saw from the a small clip of an unreleased one. It kind of shows you in a weird way how twisted his mindset must have been in that dark place that it must have seemed like he was constantly on a wild goose chase for something, like a song in-between the songs
Man hearing this feels so good
I'm in absolute awe that's so amazing
What an unbelievable behind the scene
He and Madeon out here with absolute bangers they're just sitting on.
I respect that, not everything works as full length pieces, and sometimes you just need to let things sit until you grow old enough to understand how to use it.
So bloody brilliant 😭😭😭😭😭
I really like the video style
Coming again because it so good
dawg i NEED the finished demo on the album
Where can I find the original demo??? The fact that kkb and Porter collaborated is historical enough as it is 😭😭💞
