Wait….time out!!! I just bought a Vortex now this pops up! This looks amazing
That's a really cool product. I cooked some on a simple flattop griddle and they turned out great! Thanks for the video!
No problem Boyd. Thanks for checking it out.
I can't wait. I just bought one today. Made in USA ❤️❤️❤️
Let me know how you like it.
@@TheHollarBBQ the best ❤️❤️❤️
That's pretty cool if you need more griddle space on your grill, I use my cast iron pan on the grill to make burgers, it's big enough for us. As long as you have it seasoned and screaming hot you can cook anything. Definitely grabbing a bacon press, love that thing.
Does anyone know if the Cast iron Center searing grate fits the Afterflame? or is there some kind of Mod needed?
I cook over real wood and top quality lump charcoal all the time and this is a nice addition to the already numerous things available for the Weber Kettle. With my 18 inch Weber Kettle, I love to burn real wood in it and put my 16 inch cast iron pizza pan on top of the top grate. You get all the heat and smokey goodness from the wood and that cast iron pizza pan is outstanding to use as a flat top :)
ArkansasBadBoy yeah the kettle can be used in a lot of different ways. Thanks for checking it out.
just throw your old cast iron skillet on the weber grate. throw in the patties when hot. Save $150+
eddie vanhalen I’ve never tried that, would you do just as well putting the cast iron skillet on the stove or does the grill make any difference?
@@BackyardEngineer334 you can add smoke on the grill and wont have to spend the extra cash on the grill accessory.
Spring Hill the only difference i can see is a more even heat on the skillet. I find that the stove burners can make hot spots on my large iron skillet
Eddie, I was about to say the same damn thing!! Lol
My issue is that in a skillet, grease stays in with the burger with this you can just put it into the fire
Good job on the review. I may have to look into this more. Thanks
Thanks I was really excited about this one. Cooked an awesome burger. Thanks for watching sir.
oh my god, this is a great invention. Need to get it asap.
love the cooking grill.
Crusty goodness. Nice job Kevin! Making me hungry!
Thanks Lee. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't make you hungry. Thanks for watching brother.
Wow, really looks good.
That’s pretty darn cool
Whoever fabricated that centerpiece did it ass backwards the small tabs should have been on the large ring
It’s a separate piece to add on.
Does arteflame have inserts for sidebox smokers?
Nice job and thank you!
Arteflame Grills no problem and thanks for a great product.
Thanks for the video. I agree about the steel tabs to hold the grate should be on the ring's underside and not welded on the top of the grate. You would think for the price, that the company would get it right and also pre-season the thing. Too many new gadgets for grilling popping up with some companies trying to "re-invent the wheel"!
Re the steel tabs, take a look at Titan ;-)
Mini Haswell Kooks inside in an iron skillet. Plus for $159 for the set it should come pre-seasoned.
I love that addition brother
The Meat Stall thanks a lot. It is pretty cool. Thanks for stopping be brother.
Awesome review. Thank you. They do look like a really cool product. A bit expensive to send to me, but i might get one one day anyways. Nice smashburgers too :)
Lasse's Food and Barbecue thanks man. I do recommend it if you can get one. Thanks for watching.
Its a nice piece. Still, a cast iron griddle in the center of the griddle will work just as well.
True, but your not going to be making 8 burgers with a center piece that's for sure. Or try cooking Sausage and Peppers, with onions and toasted Italian Hero's along with some Shrimp all at the same time in a center grill. If you only cook for two people, then a center piece will work, anything more than two people , I would get Arteflame Insert.
Great review!
Mark West thanks a lot and thanks for checking it out.
Nice review, man that's a pretty cool grate.
The Smokey Patio thanks. I’m really liking it. Thanks for checking it out.
Finally I was able to Order one for my 24" Weber Summit Charcoal Grill. I actually sold my Weber Performer Deluxe So I can have 2" more of cooking space with the Summit Charcoal as well as a Kamado Style grill. Now with the ArteFlame insert I will have an extra two inches of rounded cooking space, that should be the perfect size. Not to big and not to small.
Thanks for the video.
EL EVO no problem. Thanks for watching.
I have the 22 inch Weber and just getting the 26 inch Weber. The 26 will have the slow n sear for slow cooking and I will set this up in my 22 inch for smash burgers steaks and hotdogs! My back yard bbq is starting to look good!
Nice you will enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Nice accessorie :) enjoy your burgers :)
Thanks a lot. I did really enjoy that burger. Thanks for checking it out.
Cant u get similiar at the burn shop how much did the burn shop grate weight. Can u use the weber system accessories with that center opening.
John Knapp I actually got my burn shop grate after this one. I actually prefer it. I don’t have any of the weber stuff so I can’t speak to it.
Hey nice set up burgers looked great hey could you tell me what brand of cooking gloves you were using I’m looking for a good pair.
Those are Pit barrel's Pit grips. I really like them. Thanks for checking it out.
Hi... great video...Can yopu tell me where i can by this product for a weber MASTER TOUCH 57cm? Thanks
Take a look in the description above. I have the link to arteflame. Im sure they can get you hooked up. Thanks for watching.
Can this fit the Weber summit?
Interesting review. At first thought I agree with other comments it seems pricey. I’ve been thinking of a black stone or camp chef too but I was thinking of using it more for breakfast foods. Nice review and very helpful information.
GT’s Barbeque you cant go wrong with blackstone or camp chef. Perfect for breakfast. Thanks for watching.
My Blackstone works great for almost anything ! if you miss smoke flavor add liquid smoke !
Nice contraption buddy! Hey those burgers looked great!
Thanks Mike, I really like the arteflame. Really solid! Thanks for watching brother.
fireplace remodel
I dug a hole in the ground the size of the flame bowl I wanted. Lathered-in concrete over wire mesh layers and trawled out the interior shape. Had a shop cut a 3/8 x36" disc of mild steel with a 12" hole in the middle. Pulled my bowl from the ground, propped it up with boulders, and popped the steel on. I now have a very nice stand alone griddle with 12 inches of cooking space.
I would love to see that!
That’s pretty neat and I’m sure there some use for the center as well, but you can go buy a Lodge Cast Iron griddle for like $30 or less with similar cooking surface area. I’ve used it on my Weber kettle to make smash burgers a few times now
I agree. Thanks for checking it out.
That burger press is fricken awesome!!!
It works pretty good. The newer one I have I like better.
Thats pretty damn cool
Yeah I really like it. Thanks for checking it out.
Good review. Question: why not do the burgers right over the grate 1-2 at a time in order to get that flavor and grill marks?
You can with no issues. The reason I cooked them this way was I was looking for a Griddle taste and not grilled. Either way they come out fantastic. Thanks for checking it out.
$159 for the set? My kettle only cost $59 new, can you get it in different sizes?
They do have different ones. You would just have to go to their website and check out what they have. Thanks for checking it out
TheHollarBBQ h
Excellent, Thanks!
No problem. Thanks for watching.
Nice looking bit of kit. It isn't cast iron (its been flame-cut). Probably a mild steel. Did it buckle with the heat at all?
Cheradanine nope it has not buckled at all. Thanks for checking it out.
How do you clean it after cooking on it. Can't exactly use water like you would on a griddle.
I don’t even use water on a griddle. All I do is use a griddle scraper and get everything off. Then oil it down with a light coat of oil. Just like cast iron skillet. The put the lid back on and let heat do it’s thing. Just so you know I don’t even use this anymore. A full blown griddle is way better. Thanks for watching.
Weber is soooo versatile.
I agree. Very good all around grill. Thanks for checking it out.
If you could only have one, would you choose this or the blackstone griddle if you already had a smoker?
Because of ease of use I would have to give that to Blackstone. Arteflame is good but not as much room and you have to light a fire. By the time arteflame is ready to cook I would be done on the Blackstone.
That is kind of what I thought too. I am thinking of getting either a blackstone or camp chef griddle for breakfast and burgers. Also use it to reverse sear steaks after smoking them.
Just curious. Wouldn't you need to close the lid to benefit from the smoke flavor of the wood?
No. But that is a common misconception. You can get a smoke flavor with just about any open bbq, it's just not going to be as strong but some that's a good thing.
I think he was doing that to get the heat higher to season the metal.
Newb question... Why did you added the wood? The charcoal is not hot enough?
Arteflame recommends putting wood in like that. I think it's more for show. I have cooked many time with just charcoal and it cooks just fine. Thanks for checking it out.
Would love one of these. Not sure if I could get this in Canada or if I can I’m sure the shipping cost would be pricey!
Go check them out. Maybe it will not cost too much. Thanks for watching.
You should do another vid showing the cleanup after your done cooking. is this thing reversible or not ?
Like It Or Lump It I don’t have a Webber kettle anymore. But I cleaned it just like a flat top Griddle. Use a scraper to get all food off. Then just a light coat or oil. It could be reversible I guess but I personally would not. When it’s cooking the bottom will get soot all over it. I would not put my food on that. Thanks for watching.
It was so embarrassed by your Tiny Tim knife it tried to pack itself back up & run ;) Yummy looking burgers too.
Yeah but that knife is crazy sharp. Na not really. It is a tiny Tim knife. Lol ! Thanks for watching.
I like it. I think the tabs for the center piece would be best on the bottom of the ring. So that the center sits flush without the tabs on top
John Murray I agree that would be better. The reason they do it the way they do is the center piece is an option to add. Guess they figured people might not want the tabs on the ring if they don’t have the center piece.
Wouldn't they crust up the same in the middle grate? Wouldn't the regular Weber grate do just as good of a job?
All depends on what type of burger you are wanting. The middle one would be for a grilled type burger. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I love a grilled burger. When you cook it on a flat surface and get the crust all the way its more like a dinner style burger. Think 5 guys here. Since I did this video I have gotten a blackstone griddle. Thats where I do these style burgers now instead of wasting charcoal. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Is that a locking blade knife? And where's your kevlar gloves? Looks tasty, good job.
Ron Robbins Ha, I don’t want to be questioned about where I got my Kevlar from. Thanks for checking it out.
slick good for all
$79.00 WOW pricey. I have been doing this for $3.00 using a 14X14 1/4 inch steel plate I got for $3.00 from the metal recycling facility 10 years ago. Just put on top of grill, makes nice even cooked burgers. One would have to cook hundreds of burgers or steaks to get any return. Just go to your the metal recycling facility and get a piece of scrap steel, grind to smooth, heat, oil and enjoy. Uhh like $6.00 today
Yep.. Just like I paid $2 for a stainless bowl at a thrift store and cut the bottom out of it to make it a "portex" instead of payin $40 for 50cts worth of steel. Crazy what people will spend $ on.
I just use either my castiron pizza pan or my 17 inch castiron skillet. they are ac DC. inside outside.
Rite on Pricey Damn near Price of 18" weber grill Lol Good Call
Your hamburgers look scrumptious!
Well thank you. And thank you for checking it out.
Where do you buy the disc ? Pls let me know
Look in the description of this video. I have a link.
Looks cool, but what does it do different that the regular grates can't do? Does it get way hotter or something....just seems like another weber gadget
Adrian Culbreath iron will hold heat better than regular grates. The real reason I wanted it was for the flat cooking surface to do smash burgers. It’s defiantly not needed to cook good food but like you said it looks cool. Thanks for checking it out.
TheHollarBBQ will admit those burgers do look great and I love a home made big Mac seeing as tho McDonalds literally makes me as sick as a dog.
I am thinking that this would be great for camping and cooking eggs, sausage etc for breakfast sandwiches.
Catherine Smith it defiantly would be. Only thing is it is a little heavy but if you have a good way to transport it it would work.
I like that center grate on this, but pricey! Subbed ya brother
Thank you very much and thanks for checking it out.
my 16 inch cast iron skillet or pizza pan does the same job....with my press also,,but good vid
I have a cast iron pizza pan I use with the kettle
Thats nice. I almost stole one of those from pizza hut one time. Would be nice to have.
How thick is the steel and what's the diameter of the kettle is that a 21 or 26 in
juan reynoso
Uhhhh.....22”watch the first 2 mins again
1/2 inch
Does cooking on the flat top, reduce the charcoal flavor??
Mike l it does reduce it. Think of food coming off this like what you would get in a diner but better. But if you use your lid and cover when you cook will still get a little smoke flavor. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Uhhhhhhhhhh........bevis?
I have got to get one of those and the grill!
Should .you season upper and lower surfaces?
No I dont think its necessary. I also would not hurt.
what was the point of the wood?
Its what arteflame recommends. But not really needed you can just use charcoal and it heats up just fine. Mainly with the fire built up high it kinda looks cool. Thanks for checking it out,
Brian Eaver um........flavor!!
Flavor. I use jumbo lump word charcoal and some fragrant wood.
It’s insane how much it adds to the flavor.
I like that song
An important feature of a flat grill is that you can readily scrape it down. Those lugs on the insert sure as shit get in the way of that number.
I agree. that's why when I use just the griddle I don't use the insert. only use it when I am grilling. I have not touched this thing since I got my blackstone.
Good seared crust on those burgers.
Thanks a lot. I do love a good seared burger.
Did you shorten your grill if so how?
Jimmy G nope I did not shorten it.
Jeez. Music 20 times louder than mic!
Yeah I know. This was an earlier video where I was just learning. I invite you to check out some of my newer stuff before you decide on me. I think I am getting better. Always learning. Thanks for watching.
Someone always has to cry about something. I can hear him just fine.
this thing looks awesome...I was just picturing doing some wok on it ......
A wok would work perfect on it. I like it, cooks up a mean crust on a hamburger. Thanks for checking it out.
Music needs to go!
I've learned alot over the years, upgraded my equipment and learned to edit better. Music is way in the backround now. Please check out some of my newer stuff. Thanks for watching.
The intro was way to loud with headphones !
Nice review. The unboxing could have been faster. And without music. Nice demonstration on seasoning the new pieces. I almost forgot. I would like double cheese on my burger please.
I like double burger on my cheese!
@@c50ge I want a double cheeseburger. Cut the buns, meat and cheese and a Pepsi easy on the ice. No straw please.
Bon appetit.
How was the clean up? I'm thinking not that easy.
Its not bad. I use a scraper like you would use on a flat top griddle. So its not that bad of a clean up.
cleans up like cast iron, meaning very easy cleanup.
oh jeez that volume spike
Oh man those look good, I want mine with red onion.
Do you remember what cheese that was?
It has two colors in it and I was wondering if it's fine and good to eat.
I'm salavating here...
Its called Colby Jack. Excellent cheese. Thanks for checking it out.
I'm getting one. You should have posted an Amazon affiliate link.
It’s all good. Enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Where did you get that bacon press... I need one ☝️ thanks you looks awesome
Manny Ortez I just got it from a kitchen store at an outlet mall. Don’t even remember the name of the store. I bet they got them on Amazon. Thanks for checking it out.
Did it come rusted??
Not rusted, its a big chunk of metal and has some discoloration. You might get some oxidation depending on the moisture in the air. No big deal once the seasoning process starts. You can take a completely rusted cast iron pan and turn it back black. Happens all the time. Thanks for checking it out.
I think I would buy the 26" Model for the money. Cause now i Will have about 30 percent more space to make a variety of meats and burgers. 22" is just to small.
EL EVO yeah agreed. $160 is pricey. Might as well go at least 26”
EL EVO yes the 26” Weber would be my choice as well. A friend as the 26” and the 22” and he rarely uses the 22” anymore. Weber makes a 36” but it is pricey. Around $1400.00. A person could buy two 26 inch grills cheaper than that.
Man this thing cost almost as much as a full-blown Camp Chef propane griddle. The Camp Chef can probably handle about 20 hamburgers at a time and cook enough pancakes for a small army.
Oh I agree its expensive. I have a blackstone griddle and love it. I think this is more for the person who might not have enough room to have a grill and a griddle. You can have a grill and somewhat of a griddle. Defiantly not for everyone. Thanks for watching.
gas is for wossies
Like Arteflame, may have to get one for my Kamado!
I'm pretty impressed with it. No joke those burgers tasted like I bought them. Thanks for checking it out.
Love your videos it's hard to hear you though.
Marlon Ward thanks a lot. I am trying with the audio. I have a new mic and the newer videos should sound better, only if I moved to far from the Mic it will be harder to hear me. I will get it figured out though. I really appreciate you checking the videos out.
your voice is off 20db from the rest of the world /rookie
Great video...........however, I would be a subscriber IF you started using a wireless microphone. It's hard to hear you consistently.
Mark G. Yeah this video was shot a while ago and actually done completely on an iPhone. I would invite you to check out some of my newer videos. Much better equipment and I continue to learn everyday. Thanks for watching.
Defeats the purpose of a grilled bbq flavour burger imo
All depends on what you are in the mood for. I grill , smoke, bbq all the time so I'm always on the look out for something a little different every now and then. Burgers coming off of this, when done right will complete with the best burger places. Thanks for checking it out.
The Smoky flavor is still going to get on their burgers regardless of that insert and then when he puts the lid on it the smokes going to get through the burgers you're just going to get a juice your burger this way because all the grease won't be falling into the grill and cause and flare-ups
Once flipped I would've finished them in the middle for that smoke flavor
Ingot mine a week ago. I understand what you mean and I worried about that too.
But damn, it’s so awesome. You still have the grate in the center.
I use real lump charcoal and the flavor is intense.
Last night I used mine with wood chips and smoke a piece of cod right on top.
It’s a fantastic tool. Even at the cost. Game changing
i would imagine they still get smoke flavour as long as the lid goes on
That arteflame grill insert would be good for tacos....you can grill the meat and heat up your corn tortillas
Tony Mendoza yes sir. It’s perfect for tacos. Thanks for checking it out.
Why not just use a cast iron skillet?
So basically a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" plate steel with a hole in it. Find yourself a local fab shop with some scrap around and have them cut it out on a plasma cutter. Probably get it cheaper that way.
Possibly, but if you was to get someone to make the middle insert they probably could not do it very cheap. Thanks for checking it out.
Well of course you are going to say that, the company making them is surely lining your pocket. Just how do you think these things are made? Plasma cutter. You can just about any design you want to with one of those. Not that difficult.
I assure you sir I have not got one penny from Arteflame. They sent me this to check out. Thats the only thing I have gotten from them. Right now though if you watch my newer videos I do not even use this anymore. I do like it I just like my custom grill grate I had made at the burn shop better. They are super cool and have the machine you are talking about and can cut out what ever you want. Cost is around 100 bucks. If you add inserts like this one it cost a little more.
@@TheHollarBBQ why don't you use it anymore? I just bought one thinking I'll get the benefits of a flattop without having to buy a flattop griddle.
@@nerfmadeeasy I actually don't even own a kettle anymore. that's the main reason. I also have a Blackstone now so not really any need for me to use it. It does work good though.
looks like a giant washer spacer
Lol pretty much.
Hungry already
Onion, pickles and mustard pleas
Thats how I like mine too. Thanks for checking it out.
Why would company send demo to someone who doesn't own and use a Weber for its intended use.
Let's see you do a load of potatoes on that bad boy.....

Go back in this video to where I start putting the sauce on and at the top of the screen a little banner will appear for the Big Mac clone recipe click on that and the recipe will be in that video. Probably written out in the description also. Thanks for watching.
too bad the tabs arent welded on to the ring so the center would sit flush
Yeah that would be a great design. I think they do it this way because the separate the two. The center portion cost a little more. Thanks for checking it out.
@@TheHollarBBQ thinking about it more i wonder if its some patent issue
Steaks are better grilled on the flat top part, not the grates. You want that brown all over, not just the strips.
I disagree. The grates are wide enough to leave thick marks, plus with the flame coming through, you still get that brown all over plus the smoke flavor that is missing on the griddle part. It's like best of both worlds.
The whole time the cover was off - yes?
During the cook, yes it was off. During the seasoning you can have it on or off, does not really matter as long as you let the oil bake in.
Might as well fry them in a iron skillet. I will pass. Smashed all the juice out. Wow!
they are called smash burgers for a reason, idiot.
This plate ain’t for cooking meat. It’s for cooking food that won’t stay on grill. I’d be cooking the burgers in the middle grate while the bacon and onion are sizzling on the plate. Gotta put that lid on for a while though or you won’t get the Smokey flavor.
