I'm a Korean-American millennial that's always been too lazy to make bibimbap at home because of the pressure of making dolsot bibimbap similar to the way my mom would. This sheet pan version is everything. Thank you!!!
Kim: i cried when you told the story about cooking with your mom. i did that last year, we were preparing her always dreamed cookbook but she died early this year. still: your story gave me the moment to remember how much of a treasure it was and it will be for me to be able to share that with her. thanks thanks thanks!!! i watch you from Mexico City :)
as someone who needs CCs for accessibility it's actually really frustrating. they mess it up a bunch of times and make other errors too - like "shape pan" rather than "sheet pan". it seems like they just put auto generated captions in for the proper ones and didn't bother checking them. they don't even do manually entered in CCs at all anymore so it's not really a surprise that they were so careless with this.
As a Korean that grew up throwing various banchan from the fridge together in a large bowl with gochujang, sesame seed oil, and MAYBE a friend egg, this is the fanciest, the most gorgeous version I've ever seen! I bet it really comes together even more if you add some of the traditional banchan elements, like oi muchim and various Namul. It's crazy how much I grew up with a large variety of banchan always available in my fridge, and now I'm living away from my mom, it seems like a luxury :) Looks amazing, thank you for a great recipe!
@@manders76 Awesome! My mom is Korean, but she never had the patience to have another person in the kitchen with her, so she never taught me how to make stuff. I only learned how to make bulgogi by accident, when I mixed soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha together to make a beef marinade. It smelled oddly familiar, so I asked mom, and she said, yep, that's not far off from bulgogi. Of course, sriracha is not a traditional ingredient, and it was missing a few key ingredients, so I've tinkered over the years, but it has been such a delight. Anyway, please keep learning more! Some other channels you vould check out are Maangchi and Aaron & Claire. Some of my favorites are buldak, pork bulgogi, jjajangmyeon, tteokbokki, haemul pajeon, and miyeokguk. Oh, and don't forget the banchan either, like spinach, bean sprouts, pickled daikon, and more. Enjoy exploring Korean food!
I’ve tried making bibimbap before and it’s delicious, but I’ve never thought to make it in a sheet pan! This is so much easier, and I loved Eric’s kind energy!
Wait, that is such a good idea to use a sheet pan for large batches so everyone can get that stone bowl crunchy bottom without having to heat up multiple bowls!
Made this and it was soooo wonderful. I'd recommend making a bibimbap sauce (gochujang-based, very easy) rather than just using the gochujang paste on its own, because it elevates the bibimbap from quite good to amazing.
I'm not Korean (I'm Malaysian) but I looooove Bimbimbap... but I've tried making it once and it was so labour intensive I swore never to do it again Now, I wanna try this recipe so thank you!!!
I was almost off balance by how nonchalant and chill that Eric Kim is in the video. His easy-going nature and "whole foods" vegetables had me doubting the dish the whole time. But when all that stuff came out of the oven and he assembled it. Great Scott! That's some damn good lookin' BiBimBap. How do you say, "Get in my belly!" in Korean? So well done.
"ugh another sheet pan recipe" - words i will literally never say because i LOVE the ease and efficiency. keep 'em coming! totally looking forward to the cookbook!! (regardless of how many sheet pan recipes contained within haha)
This was delicious! As recommended I used what I had on hand, which was carrots, kale, and onions. For something pickled I added some of my homemade lacto-fermented sauerkraut.
Your sheet pan version does seem really chill! And thanks for admitting the flexibility works. My friends used to call this 'funk cooking,' which was our way of saying "we have these six things in the fridge... will that do?"
Was just having a conversation with my sister about how Asian recipes don't really use ovens but this is one way to rethink how to make Asian food. (Cause using an oven can be much easier T_T)
Roasted goguma would be even better. This is so cool and IDK why I never thought of doing sheet pan bibimbap. The aspect of cooking separate dishes on the stove always made me skip bibimbap at home. WIll try. Thank you!
I love that sheet pan trick of removing the steam. I am def going to try that, I would totally see that making a huge diff in soggy sad veges vs crisp satly ones!
Bibimbap has been a special occasion, restaurant food for us. I did make it once (traditional-ish) in a cooking class, but rarely have the right sort of leftovers to make it without spending hours on it. I will have to try this way when it's not 90F during the day.

Eric is such a lovely host, please feature him more!
Omg this young man is so sweet. Also lots of emotions with the four square shout out.
Bibimbap looks amazing, but can we PLEASE talk about how adorable Eric is, and how much I want him to be my friend?
the captions at 1:04 calling it "peeping pop it" is killing meeee
😂
Oh my god it’s so much funnier because they’re not even auto captions someone actually typed out pepping pop it 😭😭
When you’re spying on someone but you also want to dance
Haha I noticed that! Peep peep pop!! 😂

we really take the banchan for granted
friend egg~~~~~~
I try, but it's so much work! I keep jars and stuff, but never get around to it.
American hipsters be like: Can I parallelize Namul production using the sheet pan?🤔
"Trying not to cry" because the love is so real, pure, and human. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Food is the true love language. ❤
So I'm adopted and am just now coming around to learning how to make Korean food--so glad this popped up in my recommendations! This looks great!
Update: I made it last week and it's a keeper :D

This has revolutionized getting rid of leftover veggies for me. I now can just throw them all on a sheet pan and make bi bim bap easy! Thanks!
Wait, that is such a good idea to use a sheet pan for large batches so everyone can get that stone bowl crunchy bottom without having to heat up multiple bowls!
I’ve always wanted to make bibimbap but the process of cooking each ingredient requires patience I don’t have. This is revolutionary.
Oh I love this guy he’s entertaining and chill at the same time

Huge fan of sheet pan recipes. Please keep them coming!
No reason to apologize! Some things are just fads. Some things are popular because they fulfill a need. (/desire)
This recipe looks delicious and Eric seems like the sweetest person ever.
I'm not Korean (I'm Malaysian) but I looooove Bimbimbap... but I've tried making it once and it was so labour intensive I swore never to do it again
Now, I wanna try this recipe so thank you!!!
I made this tonight! It was delicious. I used onions, broccoli, zucchini, eggplant, shisito peppers and the kale. So easy!
He seems really sweet. Plus I love his jumper. And I'll 100% make this recipe, I think sheet pan food is so underrated!
Eric is so endearing and I love reading about his time with his mom. Family food time is invaluable to me, too. I can't wait to cook this!
Gosh! It's a literal rainbow of a dish. Like every macro nutrient is in here 😅 And yet so simple to make. Thank you so much!
So easy. Thanks for showing me my dinner for tonight. More Eric please.

i've never thought of putting rice in the oven to crisp! So clever! Definitely need to give this a try
This meal is endlessly adaptable and completely delicious! I made it for lunch in a little more time than it would have taken me to make a sandwich!
This was delicious! As recommended I used what I had on hand, which was carrots, kale, and onions. For something pickled I added some of my homemade lacto-fermented sauerkraut.

Yum. Just picked some ramps on Sunday. Will be making this tonight! Eric is delightful and talented.
As a korean i never thought of using a sheet pan to make bibim bap! Kinda genius, will def try.
Love the simplicity of this recipe. Funny how you open the oven door part way, I do the same thing w the dryer! It seems to dry faster lol!
I know what I'm making for dinner this weekend! More Eric Kim, please!!!
Roasted goguma would be even better. This is so cool and IDK why I never thought of doing sheet pan bibimbap. The aspect of cooking separate dishes on the stove always made me skip bibimbap at home. WIll try. Thank you!
Ahhhh both versions look scrumptious!!! 😋😋😋😋
Thank you! Awesome, easy and delicious.
God damn, this ingenious!!! Just roasting all the veg in one go makes perfect sense. Thx Eric! 감사감사 🙏
I love that sheet pan trick of removing the steam. I am def going to try that, I would totally see that making a huge diff in soggy sad veges vs crisp satly ones!
