  • "I am thou, then this is right. If you are thinking, ‘You are I’, you can say that after you have realised Him. When your reality is the ego, then ‘So-hum’ is wrong as it brings the energy back to the ego" - Swami Kriyananda

In Sanskrit like Latin, the placement of words doesn’t matter as long as meaning is conveyed with the purest intent.Certainly, I haven’t realized anything yet that I could speak with authority to differentiate write or wrong. Any practice is geared towards remove the differences if any through the rhythm of breath here.

I have been reading books by Swami Nirmalananda Giri, (Abbott George Burke). He has written a book on Soham Meditation (the mantra Soham ). When I asked him about Hong Sau, this is what he said. “Hong Sau” is the Bengali mispronunciation of Hamsa (or Hansa). As explained in the Soham Yoga book, there is no basis for Hamsa as a meditation mantra in any authoritative yogic texts. It was never taught by Shyama Charan Lahiri Mahasaya". His book "Soham Yoga: The Yoga of the Self," quotes the Vedas, Upanishads, and many Yogic literatures which seem to site Soham as the highest mantra in experiencing God and Self Realization. And my question is...I thought this referred to the individual soul and the Universal soul (God). Isn't ego something else, not the soul? I thought ego was mentally based, and not part of the spirit/soul (real self). So in that regard, why would it matter what order you put them in. If A=B, then B=A. Either order is true. Can you comment please? Thank you for your video.

The Bengali pronunciation can surely be a reason for that "distortion" - so to speak. But as far as the order goes, for a meditator, the aham means ego and not the individual soul. But if one is beyond the ego, then the order doesn't matter. Even the mantra may not matter!

Neither are wrong. Either way is fine. Muktananda has” ego”. Swami kriyananda you are like the kettle calling the pot black.
