Avios has designed a beautiful twin-engine Albatross HU-16 flying boat. What could be better than a large monohull flying boat gracing the skies or taxing across a lake? This excellent plane is made of strong EPO foam and comes with scale plastic fittings for an extremely realistic look. It is painted in a US Navy rescue scheme of seagull gray, yellow and white for easy visibility under all conditions.
The Albatross HU-16 came into service with the United States Air Force in 1949 and was primarily designed as an amphibious plane for search and rescue missions. It was extensively used for combat search and rescue in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. As an amphibian, it could land on both land and open sea and was optimized for 4-foot (1.2m) seas but could land in heavier seas.
The Albatross is well powered by twin Aerostar 3536-850KV motors with scale 3-blade 10x6 propellers. The 30A reversing ESCs make it easier to navigate around the water. The addition of a water rudder makes maneuvering on water even easier. The built-in flaps provide plenty of lift and make landings and takeoffs look easy. The Albatross provides a great presence in the air that will look outstanding at any time and can easily do scale passes that all enthusiasts enjoy.
Get out on the water and go soaring across the sky with the Avios Albatross.

• Classic Flying Boat design
• US Navy livery with pre-applied stickers

You guys are awesome, natural entertainers and seem so genuine. The world is a better place to have you both in it 😎
Thanks for such kind words my friend.
Captain blaz what you give to the RC community is priceless. Please don’t ever be disheartened by a crash it happens to all of us. Looking forward to seeing that plane flying again. Salute from uk hey.
Crashes are the best part of the videos. It shows that you're just like the rest of us, we've all had crashes.
Oh Captain Blaz! I feel for you, I have that particular T shirt... the maiden flight, Cof G too far aft, the sudden steep climb on take off, the tucking into turns, the horrible feeling in the stomach as you realise that this is not going to end well....
Then the crunch, the shocked silence as you try to take in what happened and then the slow walk of shame as you try to show you are a cool dude and not crying inside.
All part of the hobby. Every plane has an expiration date, some sooner than others.
I just came across your channel and I love your crazy humour and enthusiasm, great viewing. Keep up the good work.
There was a time when we built our models from balsa. We would take weeks, or months to build planes in the winter and then fly as the weather cleared in the early spring. On more than one occasion I left the house with several new planes to return with one that was reduced to balsa sawdust. You would take the walk of shame into the field, pick up the pieces, place them in a box and take the pieces home. Sometimes there was not enough left to take home. According to FB, this model is already back together and ready for Captain Blaz to fly again. And he will, and he will conquer this model.
Thanks for another great video! Even though it did not turn out as expected, it shows a true side of modelling. It looked like the battery may have shifted back after bouncing around in all that wind and made the model tail heavy, not the captains fault! It happens to all of us at one time or another. Keep the videos coming, please.
Hi guys. I'm 60 years old and new to rc planes and you guys make me glad I took up this wonderful hobby. From Australia..
Capt. Blaz, No problem, you did your best. It was the crazy wind. Don't be discouraged, get mad, repair it and go again. Nothing can stop you!!!!! You are the MAN!!!!!
Don’t give up Captain Blaž. If it makes you feel any better I crashed 3 planes at the weekend including my new EFX racer on it’s maiden flight. We all have bad days. We learn from them and move on. Never doubt your skills. If it was easy everyone could do it. We all love you both so chin up throttle-up it’s a new flight ✈️. Salute from the UK 🇬🇧
DONT EVER APOLOGISE FOR CRASHING A BIRD!!
thank you for your efforts in 1st buying the bird, showing it to us, then building it for us, and then filming the maiden 2nd thank you for sharing your hobby the way that you do, full of enthusiasm. and last but no means least thank you so much for all your replies to my comments on here or Facebook. ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN thank you and a great big salute to captain BLAZ and of course captain BOB...
Capt Blaz, you are the master of saving airplanes from vanishing into the black ocean...
Tail heavy + strong wind + slow turns.
For me, when something starts to go strange - land as quickly as possible
Captain splosh! Don't give up bud. It's always a joy to watch. It's all part of it. 👍
Captain Blâz don't give up. We all had moments like this .
As for the crash......my opinion.
1.Tail heavy
2. Too strong winds no good for maiden
3. No boat for rescue!!!!!
4. Pilot Robert keeps laughing!!!!
Fix it fly it again.
Waiting your flying again
Salute from Greece
Chris Mavromatis next flight tomorow ;)
Classic tip stall. Looks like that wing has a high wind load. No more low speed maneuvers😂
If you can fly PVC you can fly that pretty Catalina😂
If you wait for nice no wind conditions, you will never fly. Epoxy and rock on❤
Chris Mavromatis I have never stalled an Rc Plane in a turn. He needs to keep the speed up in his turns.
That wind was Wicked. I can hear it blowing like crazy. It will be a lot better next flight. Recheck the CG again. Don't feel bad Captain Blaz. It was just way to windy for that foamie. Hang in there guys. I salute you Robert for posting.
Scott Morgn yes thanks!!!
Got a stroke when saw the plane turning left and dive into the water!! Seemed a wingtip stall but with so much wind just a crazy like Capt. Robert wants to fly to show us the new born plane. And he hasn't censored, so i love these two guys even more! :)
Thanks my friend for kind words and for all support. The bird is fixed and ready for round two.
Come on Captain Blaz... cheer up... this hobby is all about having fun... things happen... smile and keep at it... You guys are the best... :)
Capt Blaz, you're the best! Don't give up buddy.😁😁
I really admire how brave the two of You are flying all the planes and show the raw footage. Then I discovered somthing more...You don't mess up Your chanal with comercials under the show. And thats amazing!! I salut from Sweden to You EY!
Vacation In South Sweden oh thanks for kind words!!!!big salute...
I salute you Capt Blaz. Dont give up keep on flying. Fix that thing and put it back in the air. We've all been there and loose a little confidence after a crash. The best way to fix it is get right back in the air with a plane thats an old favorite. As always thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming.
The realism is what keeps us on the edge of our seats; our support is the same for you Capt Blaz! Glue & Fly Again!
Yes, a sudden gust of gravity strikes again!
Many times my friend ;-)
xjet not enough speed in his turns...
xjet ,to see you all together for a collaboration would be comedy gold. 👍🏻
A year later ..I STILL can't stop laughing! I love to use that line on gusty days on final approach when the plane drops half a meter .. semi-expectedly.. one meter above an obstacle.. even better is watching a plane take off @ full power in an otherwise good climb, but careening up and down like ice in a cocktail shaker.. JUST BARELY CLEARING an obstacle!🤣
Hi captain blaz, not completely your fault A , tail heavy,to strong wind, flying to slow A, never mind its always a challenge on maidens, have another go A
You're trying too hard
B
Blaz, don't let it get to you. Everybody crashes. Your videos are always REAL. That's why we're addicted to watching you guys!
Capt Blaž don't feel bad you flew great until the wind decided your plane should take a swim. I love your videos, you guys are honest and so much fun, thank you!
I'm so glad I discovered your channel. Thanks for the great RC content. Honest reviews and uncut raw entertainment right here. This is the best :-)
I cant wait for the re-maiden of the Albatross. I know Blaz will have his redemption flight very soon. Nice hat too.
Thanks for kind words and for all support my friend.
You inspire me to just buy an RC plane, go out and ENJOY 😁 - whatever it will be.
Edit: Wing stall, roll over and then crash. Just keep your spirits up, guys!
Just keep on, Captain Blaz, when you fall we fall together, when you get success we get too! Up, up and away
When you can laugh at adversity, you must be a member of the Petrincic squadron! Important life lesson.
Not your fault Captain Blaz! The winds were crazy, you can hear it.
Spiro Anagnostakos ;((
Blaž Petrinčič We will be here with you through perfect flights and the occasional crash...because that’s what it’s all about! Hey!
@@Wrekt330, Well stated! Really appreciate the realism of their videos.
That wind! Captain Blaz just stay outta the wind! You are a great pilot!
Oh come on tip stall Blaz don't give up we love watching you fly we look forward to your next flight.
alejandro diaz ((((
@@elpunto231 cheer up my friend 😁 you are a good Pilot.
Captain B, if everyone who crashed stopped flying, there would be no RC pilots. Beautiful plane!
Captain Blaž, you fall off the horse, you get straight back on again. Can't wait to see the next flight of the Albatross. Don't be so down on yourself. We have all experienced those moments.
Capt Blaz', don't give up it happens to us all, no big deal, looks fixable. Looked really good in the air. It seemed to me it might have been a little tail heavy? I don't know, maybe the wind. It also looked as if it wanted to tip stall but HEY its ok. I still love it and look forward to the fixed plane video.
Michael Anderson yes incorrect cg ;(
dont give up captain blaz! remember those famous words from forrest gump, "shit happens" lol
shadows faded yes it does ;)
Any water wreck you don't have to swim to recover.. is a good one Blaz !!!! Good luck Guys !!!
Wind in your hair and mud up your nose, no wonder. Don't get too down on yourself Capt. Blaz, embrace the Crash. It's a big part of this hobby. We're all behind you and will support you until the next one, hahaha....
Hay blaz fix it and try again dont let it get you down its fixable . : }
Captain Blaž, how did you miss the G spot ...? don’t give up ! You are still the best and we are waiting to see the redemption flight as pilot Robert said.
I will salute you.
Repairs can be made and redemption flight will come. Thank-you brothers for presenting the honest view of model RC flying.
Cris King oh yeah thanks!!!!
Captain Blaz, I subscribed to the channel just today , hey! DON'T QUIT!!! It was far too windy for a maiden and you guys didn't bring a boat. The fact that the float did not go to the Black Sea and came back to you is a sign for you to NOT QUIT!! :)
Oh, yeah! Shit happens. Still a great video and great flying. Crazy wind
Castimoniae oh yeah ;)
John T is world-famous again!
Hang in there Capt Blaz, we all have flying days like this! At least you didn't spend all winter building it.........;-)
Capt Blaz is the man! No other pilot shoots snot rockets out of their nose on a video. HAHA!!! You are the BEST!!! Much love, Tony & Evelyn
I saw that later when I was watching the video. But we can forgive him this time ;-) Big salute to both of you from Slovenia.
You’re flying too slow in turns bro,and it looks a bit tail heavy 😩
Airspeed too low. Captain Blaz is too used to the Nitro engine sound. Next time will be much better!
You did great Capt Blaz....don’t sweat it. We all have those days. You WILL fly electric again...we all know you will 😎 You even saved the wing float!
Big Salute! Nasty conditions, you went anyway for us the viewers.I know we will see this plane in the air again,Thank-you for not hiding anything.
Absolutely tail heavy brother. It could have happened to anyone. 👍🇺🇸
I agree. Just a little tail heavy. Nice plane though. The battery looked quite a long way back to me. Might be an easy fix.
9:16 I have never laughed so hard at one of your videos!! Captain Blaz!! your hilarious!!
Captain Blaž, do not feel bad about this flight! The fact that you even managed to keep it in the air that long shows your excellent flying skill. If anything you can be proud of that!
2 years ago, you almost gave up. Here you guys are now flying so many planes with more skill and always learning. Keep up the great videos. From USA
Oh dont worry. Blaž was just really dissapointed that day. Thanks for support.
Seemed a little tail heavy and underpowered. Easy repairs so you should be back up in the air in no time. Hey!
Plastic Aviator oh power is there but cg was not
@@elpunto231 I agree bigger battery in the nose and some glue
Those big planes are always under powered. Thats why I dont buy them. They should be putting larger motors in them. The battery size gave that away.
RC Hobbyist Extreme This one has tons of power. They did a great job on this one.
They have alot of power it was cg. And velcro the lipo
Chin up captain Blaz, apart from the wind It flew better with speed, it also looked tail heavy. The control May of been it wasn't Binded properly!! When binding to the receiver you should ensure the transmitter is at least 1 meter away from the plane!! 2.4ghz needs to transmit alternating its frequency it need space. Hope this helps. It's an exciting hobby with ups n downs, but it's people like you both involved in the hobby that makes it great as you say eh,,,eh!! 🤕👍😊😊
graham walton i did bind it at home but i had switch on modul the wrong way ;)
Blaž Petrinčič Ahh, that would explain it, glad you recovered the black box flight recorder, at least the maiden crash landed in the water not on the Tarmac, I'm sure both of your expertise will have the great Albatross back up in the blue yonder as soon as I can log on again. Please do the maiden 2 again yourself same place then the maiden 3 let heir capitan Robert take off from the grass!! Keep the videos coming good bad or ugly you guys are what this great hobby are all about, from all of us fellow rc pilots standing in fields everywhere! Chocks away, Salute!! 👍😊🤕😳🤔👌👌🛩✈️🛫🚁🚀
You’ll be back Capt Blaz. I have no doubt. Very sad to see you so depressed. Your a great pilot. You’ll be back. Beers on your brother.
The cg was tail heavy, I’m glad you got it back in a way you can fix it!! Cpt Blaz, don’t get down on a crash it’s part of the victory of success!!
Kevin’s Commentary yes thanks...and it is fixed :)
in my opinion as a CG is tail heavy....so just for a suggestion if noticed something wrong try to land immediately !!!.... and the stall turns with out power take care about it mate!!!........ok it is a test flight I know the feeling.....don't give up my friend better luck next time.
I should never read the comments first..!!! Like spoilers in a movie.....I want to experience every successful flight and if there is a crash then I will share your sadness
as though I am there right with you at the moment....
I can not wait to see the re-maiden! I bet in calm winds this will be a sweet flyer. Capt Blaz, you did very well with a maiden flight in those winds! Great positive attitude Robert!
Great job keeping it flying as long as you did!!
Capt. Blaz maybe a tiny little bit of tip stall at the end .... but hey fly or die ....wait for redemption fly, Salute my friends!
Luise K. Yes it is what it is :(
When I first started flying RC a few years ago I got so sad when I would crash a plane. The guys at the field would just say "...fix it and fly again. It happens to everyone."
pilotdane yes all true!!!
I love how you guys show everything, mistakes and all!! You guys are resale, and funny as hell. My new favorite rc channel
Capt Blaž: Do not despair! The wind was like a scale half gale and it was a cross wind! There could also be an issue with the radio, but nevertheless, as the saying goes: "if you aren't crashing, you aren't flying"! And it's a foamie, so a quick gluing and you'll be back at it. Believe me when I tell you that we the viewers and subscribers love the Petrinčič airmen of Slovenia, come hell or high water - come crash or successful flight! You WILL fly this bird again! Never quit! Salute from an RC brother in Central Ohio!
you can fix dis Canadian style-------with duct tape Hey! Oh Yeah! Salut!
Gordon Mohr it is fixed as we speak...
It was not the wind. Only too much tail heavy or too much uptrim or both.
Sorry to see the beautiful bird hit the water,Pilot Robert nailed it though by saying "the redemption flight will be even better" and so it will. Your all good Captain(the master of disaster)Blaz. Lol. I can't wait for the second attempt. Us Aussies are here for you.
Captain Blaz let me give you the words, hey. "I WILL BE BACK" tomorrow is another day, you are a better pilot than you know. Do not give up, I believe in you.
Salute, that was some good flying there captain how you got it into the air and kept it there for so long I don’t know 👍
The last Engineer also me ;(
It looked like it was tail heavy or something.
I have their Yak-52 it was tail heavy too, barely made it back on the ground in one piece. I’ve been flying RC for 15 years and have never crashed a model, came close that day
I love you guys, i have been in the hobby since 1963. Back then we had "control lines" we also had rockets! Those are my most precious memmories. Back then we didnt have video along with the tech. BUT to have tech along with the "SHARE FACTOTR " is incrediable. Not to mencheion the fact that empowring people All over the world! I honor you guys for going obove the line to bring people together no matter where they live in the world and to bond within one interest. MAYBE AND IS what the world should be about. Thankyou for being PROUD of your country. I fly real and model.
My Sincere grettings from
MN, USA
Wow! The wind was nuts! Captain Blas is fine. That wasn’t pilot error. I can here the wind. You are still a star!
Captain Blaz, wet duck but beautiful. It will fly again!
Kenneth Imlej yes tomorow ;)
A bit of glue and it is fixed.
as you said to me: Fixed planes fly the best
My Avanti will hopefully get a remaiden soon, when I get a new fuselage.
only that will be difficult because..... yea look at my username. I also want a fursuit from like 1000 euros and I need money and I am only 15. I like spent already 1,5k on my rc planes (and car), and now my other hobby is also expensive. luckily when I turn 16, I can do a vacance job, earning 1000 euros in the month
ps read my bio for more info.
and btw maybe put a gyro on your plane, so it flies stable, and it will also help control the airplane if you lose an motor
Mine ALWAYS fly better with glue and tape. That model doesnt like wind. I was told by many pilots those big water planes are like that.
@@scottfirman my avanti would have flown better too i think, but it is too far gone, i tried to repair it but it there is just too much damage, because when the pilot was doing a takeoff, the nose broke off because the nosegear strut was too weak, it broke off and he lifted off, turned off the throttle, this caused it to stall and it flew right into a ditch, and the fuselage was destroyed after that(and also a piece of foam flew right into the turbine and it was totally shredded) and also i dont think it will stay together in a jet because of the speed and the G's you pull. but i got it for free after it crashed so i need to learn to fly with jets first because i only fly with a funcub, an easystar and a trex 450.
Captain Blaz, Been there done that! The winds were hazardous and the nearby hills make the winds even more turbulent. This plane like the C-130 needs a lot of speed in the turns. Big salute to you and Captain Robert!
Don’t give up Captain Blaz !!! … We need you … We count on you to bring us laugh after laugh !!!
And again He fly to slow I was yelling at him before he crash I saw it coming he try to fly to SLOW all the time A.
Capt Balz does like to fly slowly lol but there’s nothing wrong in that, this plane will fly really nice at slow speeds, the only problem was that it was too tail heavy and he didn’t recognise it until it was too late 🤦🏼♂️ did exactly the same thing with my durafly Excalibur a few weeks ago except I realised what was wrong and managed to get down straight away.
@@TheMuddatrucker Maybe, but main reason was as was mentioned in first comment, too slow for this setup, it was telling him several times and finally if feld trough left wing with no chance to save it. I don´t want to be rude, but heavy plane, wind, slow flight and bad setup of weight as you saying, too much reasons to lose plane, istn it? :-D
@@TheMuddatrucker There is something wrong with going to slow and enter a turn, thats called tipstall.... it was like 3...2...1.. what? ah.. there we go... xD
Jan Černý but you can’t call this a setup! All this is is a tail heavy plane so for that you’re right! You wouldn’t fly a tail heavy plane slowly but the thing is capt blaz didn’t realise it was tail heavy! And I’m pretty sure if he did then he wouldn’t have flown it so slowly but when this plane is balanced correctly it will fly nice and slow without tip stalling so I’m not wrong in what I was saying.
e30kitty I disagree! If the c of g had been correct then this plane will fly nice and slowly without risking a tip stall, capt blaz didn’t recognise the tail heavy characteristics so kept flying slowly, if he had recognised them I’m sure he’d have increased his airspeed and brought it down.
We will not be pooseys.....
LOL!!
RUN FORREST. OH MAN
BLAZ gravity sucks. And wind blows. SALUTE!!
It was very windy and seemed crazy over the water , was still fantastic flying captain Blaz . Great video guys always good.
Brilliant! You guys always make me smile. Awesome vids!
# 1 CRASH ON RUclips GOES TO-- CAPTAIN BLAZ^ HEY!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
SHITT HAPPENS BROTHER HEY!!!
Slovenia seems to have lots space to actually live in....Do you need an English speaking Goulash lover to dust your airforce Hey?
I will second that and be stand in number 1
Zebra Pot oh we have loots of space ;)
Oh Yeah the cg looked a little aft of optimal. But the main problem was flying to slow in the turns which a lot of other viewer's noticed also. I fly in wind all the time and I had to learn how to adjust to tricky wind at my field. So don't give up Captain Blaz learn from your mistakes and become an even better Pilot. I salute you Petrencic brother's for bringing us these entertaining videos. Dis is it....now cut quick!
Still, a fan thank you for also showing the bad days!!! Keep flying my friends!
Thanks for stopping by my friend.
Tail heavy, tail heavy, tail heavy.
Absolutely.
For the second run add more wight in the nose, as i can see the plane whas more tail heavy
Fatherold we will just put bigger battery :)
Well, that's the beauty of showing unedited first flights. Captain Blaz needs to get back on the horse again, quickly!
Transition from headwind to downwind in a slow curve? Stall? But, pilot is still alive and that is why he has to fly, hahaha! To many of us are addicted to this channel.... Goodspeed!
Martin Jančar well this is just not for me..i need to have piston powered engine and this is it ;)
@@elpunto231 honestly, in those condition to fly such a bulky plane is achievment in itself... and I bit of bad luck should not stop you. not redemption flight - revenge flight - that is the right answer.! haha... greetings from Vrhnika!
It was not the easiest weather to do the maiden, and Captain Blaz don`t give up even that this was the second time in the row. Your not alone ;) All viewers know you have extra pressure on you when you are filmed and will be shown on youtube, so don`t worries be happy and big salute to you!
Bjørnar Senstad thanks!!!
Sorry about the crash guys! Don’t quit Captain Blaz! Repair it, get it flying perfectly, get a lot of altitude and then dive it straight into the lake and show that plane who’s boss! On to the next one! Thanks, as always, for the vids!!
I am glad you showed this. No BS fake videos here! You dont give up eather. Good for you! You guys ROCK!
RC Hobbyist Extreme oh thanks!!!
You are correct, you don’t see this every day. But... it was awesome!
Spot on Chris, Love Capt Blaz flying, so much fun . This is the hobby , Cant stop giggling to myself. Great video, The best!!
You're a star. Captain Blaz, don't give up, a minor setback. Keep up the great work!
He did great my friend considering all. He will fly soon. We have rain now every day so we are gorunded.
No matter what happens, you guys are always entertaining. I salute you both! 👍
Run Forrest! Haha! That was hilarious!! If I was drinking something when I heard that it would have shot out my nose!
Very sad but you will fly again. Petrinčič
brothers never give up!
Flew through a jet wash. Good recovery Capt. Blaz, you gotta reengage, get in the fight
Blaz my heart goes out to you my friend! When you crash, you crash for all of us. It takes guts to do these maidens on camera, with a new plane and crazy winds. Don't hang your head for too long, you have a redemption flight to get ready for! OH YEAH!
Tim Pritts oh thanks my firend!!
Love you guys! love that plane... it was pretty windy.. could hear it all in the mic. You guys got excited and wanted to fly it... I completely understand. We Salute you!!!
