Many cases have happened but they do not allow Police to enter.
They cite it as an Internal matter, set up a committee, and go all out on the students. Even if there is a mistake from the faculty member (in the position), the administration goes all out in support of the faculty.
The problem is that ALL administrative posts are held by faculty members only - right from director, registrar, deans, associate deans to the wardens...
So they will protect each other vigorously, and have protected each other vehemently - they are after all central govt employees and have a very strong faculty association too.
So all students are the bakraas always, even in harassment cases within academic zones also...
UG, PG students have a strong crowd and representation in the Students Council, but the Research Scholars are the biggest scapegoats. ZERO protection, ZERO rights within that campus.
One among many incidents-- When a faculty member harassed a Scholar, the Scholar gave complaint to Dean Office. They made the faculty give VRS AND expelled the female Scholar saying she is incompetent after a good two years.
She had cleared the department entrance exam, interview, course work and comprehensive viva voce. But nobody could protect her. They expelled her too just for raising her voice.
Many more such cases have happened. There should be atleast one IAS officer to run the institute. These professors are only interested to exert power, shift blame and inflict harrassment in their own way. Management should include an IAS officer.
