Nagito's character as a whole honestly accomplished things you didn't know you could feel. Even though there was Kokichi, I don't think there'll ever be another intricate character that will accomplish what he could with Danganronpa 2. His role was an experience to watch.

Here's the solution to the replay problem. Just play the game with a friend who hasn't seen it yet. I just did that and it's actually fun to see your friend's reactions and hear their thoughts on who they think the killers are and how the murders were done. My friend actually guessed Junko to be the mastermind right at the beginning because her hair clips look like monokuma (ofc he was only joking around) and I was laughing on the inside.

I am addicted to other's reactions to Danganronpa at this Point. I would pay good money the erase my memory of the games' stories just to expieriance them again. But because that's not really possible, I have to make do with my friends'reactions and it's a fine way to emulate the feeling.

They're not actually " Ultimate ". Like for example, Aoi Asahina would never be able to beat Michael Phelps at swimming, because her talent is only at a high-school level.
That's true, and it also explains why they're convinced that the head of Ultimate Despair is a high schooler; it's Super High School Level Despair. That said, "Ultimate" is a lot easier to say.
@Sardonicus Actually, Kazuichi liking Sonia for shallow reasons reflects his character. In his FTEs, he explains that once he changed his looks, girls started coming onto him and it freaked him out because he has severe trust issues. He pines after Sonia, because whether or not he's subconsciously aware of it, she's way out of his league. Therefore, he never has to worry about building an actual relationship with her and allowing him to trust someone. He gets to live out his fantasy without real world consequences. Unfortunately, the fact that his obsession with her was never really resolved is a blight on his character and I get why others dislike him for it. He's my personal favorite, though.

DanganRonpa, by far my favorite franchise (not individual games or anime but collectively is my favorite). The story, the writing, the art, the music, the characters, the voice work, the charm, the horror, the fun, the hope, the despair! This has so much that I love, yes there may be some flaws but I don't care. A series I hold dearest to my heart and hell, the reasons part of my YT, PSN, Nintendo, etc. accounts are MonoHerobrine (the Herobrine part just always stuck for some reason). We may never get another game/anime/novel/manga. However, I'm so glad this series exists, and I'll be their for whatever Kazutaka Kodaka (the creator) has in store for us next. Spoilers: It's explained in D1 that Junko had connections to terrorists through her sister and D3 goes into how she brainwashed the reserve class and then the ultimates and then presumably the broadcasts of the killing game were laced with the brainwashing too. It's actually the best part of her villainy imo. She makes us believe that humanity was already on the brink of this despair and that we must want it if we fell to it so easily but in reality, she forced people to want it and used terrorism and brainwashing to destroy the world. Obviously Hopes Peak and the power it had created this opening for her to do all this and their actions directly enabled her to do this. When her plan is mixed in with what we know of the world and Hopes Peak from the anime and other games, it's actually a relatively realistic story of elitist corruption having a catastrophic effect on society. And for D2, Ram, you really got the ending wrong. The final students get out safely thanks to Hajime changing the coding from the inside after awakening to his true nature. In the final bit he says he's staying on the island (where their bodies are, the ship was used to bring them to the island initially) to see if they can sort out the others who are in comas. In D3 we see that they succeeded in helping the rest of the students which is good because of what we learn of how they were turned from D3's Despair Arc. Didn't want to make a long 'call you out' comment because I enjoyed the video but the endings and stories are significantly less 'i dunno... Anime I guess' than represented in the video jaja.
I love danganronpa even though i actually just watch everyone play them. I was actually introduced to it throught the anime because my friend said don't watch it (cuz im scared easy) but i thought she said it was a good one to start with... So i watched it. And felt real sick. And then i found out about the games and now i am kinda desensitised to it all. So i can thank dr for that lol. And i can't wait for you to talk about V3. I really like Kokichi even though he is a little shit lol. I think he is the male character i have drawn the most (i can't draw guys)

as someone who hopped into these games blind, i can confirm, especially with the second one, they are amazing experiences. To pick a highlight, when I got to the fifth case of the second game for the first time, I had to pause and just think about everything going on. It was awesome! Keep up the great work!

I've replayed each game at least 3 times over the years by myself and then again with a friend and, of course, like any (mistery or not) visual novel or book it is interesting the 2nd time because you can notice some details you missed but the 3rd time it can start to get old... For me it wasn't like that because I love the franchise and I'm super invested but I won't play them for at least a year or two... Or more... But I'll go back to them someday because I'm like that, I like replaying/rereading. I enjoyed the cheesy writing too tbh
I'm actually replaying all the games with my sister, who is playing for the first time ever. And this is my first time actually playing the games myself, since I watched a let's play of all the games a year ago. We are currently playing DR2 and it's a joy to see my sister try to solve all the mysteries while I'm controlling the game :)

I got into this fandom because I saw those meme videos like, "Steamed Hams but its a Class Trial" or "Golden Girls but its Danganronpa" and wanted to watch an actual class trial so I could understand the joke. Figured I'd just watch 1 class trial but that was all it took to hook me.
Swinelias The gamer I got into danganronpa because I was in a dark place in my life, so I looked up some dark anime to make me sob some more :D. I found danganronpa the animation, and it actually did help with the dark time I was going through. I ended up getting the 1-3 games and I’m currently on v3! I got most of it spoiled though...
I think Danganronpa 2 is the best in the series personally. It is one of the few serialized games or shows that manages to do serial escalation perfectly. Every mystery is more batshit than the last. Both DR1 and DRV3 have highlights, but they're uneven. DR1 gets boring after the third trial, and the DRV3 is boring in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trials.
i personally disagree with you, the first game got much better after the third trial, wich was the lowest point in the series imo, the first and second trials were ok, the third was abyssmal and the 4th+ was great, as for V3, i highly disagree, as i found all V3 trials highly enjoyable, especially the fourth i could never justify as boring, honestly all of the cases were great, i do personally hold DR2 in high regard, but V3 was just imo better in most areas, trials included

In his FTEs, he explains that once he changed his looks, girls started coming onto him and it freaked him out because he has severe trust issues. He pines after Sonia, because whether or not he's subconsciously aware of it, she's way out of his league. Therefore, he never has to worry about building an actual relationship with her and allowing him to trust someone. He gets to live out his fantasy without real world consequences.
Unfortunately, the fact that his obsession with her was never really resolved is a blight on his character and I get why others dislike him for it. He's my personal favorite, though.

So basically at the end it's revealed that the whole Hope's Peak saga was fictional and didn't happen in the real DR universe. Tsumugi, is able to cosplay as them because they are fictional. She's unable to cosplay real people. She goes on a cosplay frenzy at the end of V3 because her role as the mastermind was revealed and she just revealed the exposition and mysteries of the school and pretty much everything

DanganRonpa, by far my favorite franchise (not individual games or anime but collectively is my favorite). The story, the writing, the art, the music, the characters, the voice work, the charm, the horror, the fun, the hope, the despair! This has so much that I love, yes there may be some flaws but I don't care. A series I hold dearest to my heart and hell, the reasons part of my YT, PSN, Nintendo, etc. accounts are MonoHerobrine (the Herobrine part just always stuck for some reason).
We may never get another game/anime/novel/manga. However, I'm so glad this series exists, and I'll be their for whatever Kazutaka Kodaka (the creator) has in store for us next.

the survivors of DR2 did NOT decide to stay in the virtual world, the options were: stay there as it was. Return with memories and let AI junko control dead friends. Return without memories. They decided to return without the virtual world memories, that's why Hajime was watching the boat leave at the end.
Then again, he's the Ultimate Hope so of course he remembers everything and saved everyone like it is shown in Danganronpa 2.5.

It's explained in D1 that Junko had connections to terrorists through her sister and D3 goes into how she brainwashed the reserve class and then the ultimates and then presumably the broadcasts of the killing game were laced with the brainwashing too. It's actually the best part of her villainy imo. She makes us believe that humanity was already on the brink of this despair and that we must want it if we fell to it so easily but in reality, she forced people to want it and used terrorism and brainwashing to destroy the world. Obviously Hopes Peak and the power it had created this opening for her to do all this and their actions directly enabled her to do this. When her plan is mixed in with what we know of the world and Hopes Peak from the anime and other games, it's actually a relatively realistic story of elitist corruption having a catastrophic effect on society.
And for D2, Ram, you really got the ending wrong. The final students get out safely thanks to Hajime changing the coding from the inside after awakening to his true nature. In the final bit he says he's staying on the island (where their bodies are, the ship was used to bring them to the island initially) to see if they can sort out the others who are in comas. In D3 we see that they succeeded in helping the rest of the students which is good because of what we learn of how they were turned from D3's Despair Arc.
Didn't want to make a long 'call you out' comment because I enjoyed the video but the endings and stories are significantly less 'i dunno... Anime I guess' than represented in the video jaja.
Also don't let the haters get you down. V3 is my favourite too.

I was actually introduced to it throught the anime because my friend said don't watch it (cuz im scared easy) but i thought she said it was a good one to start with... So i watched it. And felt real sick. And then i found out about the games and now i am kinda desensitised to it all. So i can thank dr for that lol.

as someone who hopped into these games blind, i can confirm, especially with the second one, they are amazing experiences. I've replayed each game at least 3 times over the years by myself and then again with a friend and, of course, like any (mistery or not) visual novel or book it is interesting the 2nd time because you can notice some details you missed but the 3rd time it can start to get old... For me it wasn't like that because I love the franchise and I'm super invested but I won't play them for at least a year or two... Or more... But I'll go back to them someday because I'm like that, I like replaying/rereading.

I found danganronpa the animation, and it actually did help with the dark time I was going through. I ended up getting the 1-3 games and I’m currently on v3! I got most of it spoiled though...

I think Danganronpa 2 is the best in the series personally. It is one of the few serialized games or shows that manages to do serial escalation perfectly. Every mystery is more batshit than the last.
Both DR1 and DRV3 have highlights, but they're uneven. DR1 gets boring after the third trial, and the DRV3 is boring in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trials.
i personally disagree with you, the first game got much better after the third trial, wich was the lowest point in the series imo, the first and second trials were ok, the third was abyssmal and the 4th+ was great, as for V3, i highly disagree, as i found all V3 trials highly enjoyable, especially the fourth i could never justify as boring, honestly all of the cases were great, i do personally hold DR2 in high regard, but V3 was just imo better in most areas, trials included
