- Just aquired recently this beauty , with 39.000 kilometers on tacho
I must say that the japs did a great job on this serie....
The second gear is pretty tough to shift, but this was a design failure...anyhow ,if you shift fast and cut through , it will work.fine

Thing of beauty! I Owed one a few years ago for 5 yrs. I've missed it ever since. The ride is awesome! Very responsive and secure. I've been so fast on FJ that everything went silent!

I have the 1984, bought it one year old in 1985 with 903km on the odometer. It's seen Alaska, California, Montana, Texas, and most points in between.

I had the exact same bike in 1992 when I toured all over Switzerland, France, Spain and Italy.
I drove the crap outa this thing, even on winter ice and snow; obviously dropped it a few times also..... Then sold it for 100 Francs to some dude who shipped bikes off to Romania - no joke !

there is a man in Croatia who owns a motorcycle service and has such a yamaha fj 1100 with 1,450,000 km, this is not a lie, the engine is owned by him for over 30 years and he is the most famous Croatian motorcyclist.

I bought one of these brand new in late 1984 , liked it , but it kept on making a 'rattling' sound , drove me mad , a Yamaha guy from chessigton yamaha tested it , said it was ok
The rattling got worse , it was louder than my mates Bonnie , and another mates CX500. Somebody stole this bike form me , i was relieved to be honest.
I bought a GPZ900r with the money.......a faaarrr superior bike.
Husband wants one very badly. He had a zrx1000 before getting a Sportster. Dont get it with these type bikes. Guess he does.
