The perfect metal live rig for $600! And yes I know you can get your grandmas old tube amp and a can of pringles for $50 and it’s probably going to slay small babies all across the world, but my demo is showcasing new equipment!

I would have just rolled with a Katana Artist and called it good. Better speaker (Waza Craft) in the artist and the models are tweaked for it.

tube watts and solid state watts will give the same output volume in dB... it's the way they distort when you start getting to that max output that makes the perceived volume of one seem louder than the other
so if you can make a solid state power section that either breaks up in the same way as a tube power section or stays cleaner closer to that max output then it can keep up at the same wattage (my bet is boss is doing the second thing because i doubt anyone has figured out the first bit)
So not even remotely true!
When you personally own over 40 tube and solid state amps, you know your statement about volume is so far off!
My rig is vintage Peavey Mark Bass VI Head + Behringer 410 Cab. 620$ only! Works well with bass and guitar.
Boss Katana is the one. I've done the tube amp thing and still have one, and I have a robust pedalboard. The Katana is LOUD and sounds like it should cost so much more.

Don't forget that the Katana Head has a built-in speaker, which means for you young people with limited budgets, leave your cab at the rehearsal space and bring the amp home and keep practicing in the bedroom. That little 4" speaker sounds surprisingly good. (Also the acoustic mode is for use with piezo-acoustic guitars, it's not an acoustic emulator, like in some amps.) I'm not sponsored by Boss either, but I 'm open to it. :-)

I bought a 6505 peavey 20w head used for 379. Killer head!

I bought a Randall RH300(w/ preamp tube), and matching 4x12 cabinet for $400 on Craigslist.
For metal, at least my type (thrash/heavy metal) it works unbelievably good. So much bass in this particular head just makes chugging such a pleasure. I also just got the Randall Diavlo 45 head for $450. Its awesome, but the RH300 just has the sound I prefer. MARCH OF THE S.O.D. is the sound I go for.
I mean, you could also save up €150 extra and buy an MT15, but you still need an OD, Delay and Gate, adding up to like €1000. I can't be bothered buying a lot of pedals, so I just caved in and got the Headrush Pedalboard, which I run into my MT15 into the Harley Benton G212 Vintage.

Ehh I just got a gen 3 50 watt combo. I will be trading it in towards a Marshall DSL or a Freidman Runt combo lol I need that tube compression and more mids. I wanna do 70s to 80's rock and 80's metal.
Great video - I have the same cab - it is really good :) however I have paired it with Joyo Zombie (i use it at home), But Joyo Zombie only seems to be cheap - becasue with all the pedal effects i have bought my rig is easy about 600 EUR :)

I would get this cab (maybe second hand) with a used ENGL Fireball. It's doable with this budget if you keep your eyes open (in Europe anyway)
And the effects you would get for free from where...?
Effects weren't specified and there's room for an effect, maybe 2. Either way, just a recommendation :)
I'd probably would've gone for the Marshall DSL 20W tube head - costs less than €400 and sounds like you'd expect: heavy as a very heavy thing 🤘😜🤘
The HB cabinet is absolutely awesome though - great choice!

My first metal band played two Battle of the Bands with one guitarist mic'd into the PA out of a Gorilla GA25. We actually didn't sound all that bad.

I have the same cab. It's great, but when I crank my Peavey 6505mh past 6 on the master volume, it starts to get very farty. However, it is a wonderful, practical piece of gear. Also worth noting, the speakers are the Chinese Vintage 30s, as opposed to the British Vintage 30s that you find in your Mesa and Peavey cabs.
Update, it's not the cab. It's the power stage of the 6505. Dangit. Anyway, I bought the Katana and now have this exact rig other than the Solar. Very sweet setup.Not even just for a budget. It's a slick getup no matter what.
A Jet City JCA50 head would have fit in the budget. It is a clone of a Soldano SLO.
You could use a joyo zombie 5w tube head and just mic the cab

that first rythm patch sounded like shit coming out a small 1972 radio. the clean sound sounded ok but empty and distant. the crunch was a lot better. the lead tone sounded too washed by delay/reverb.

Sometimes you gotta dial it back a bit as a result. You can fix that with a good ear for eq and the software though
I have the Katana 50 but I had to buy a Blues Jr. to get that tube sound. Do you understand what I mean as a Katana owner too
I've owned both tube and solid state, have been playing 15 years, and the only difference is ever hear between solid state and tube amps is that tube amps stay clean a little longer before they distort. No audience and no mix is ever gonna be able to tell the difference, it's all mostly in your p.a what sound you get live.

I’m about to start a guitar company. The details are kinda quiet right now bc I’m very worried someone will find out before I’m in a good place and exploit it on me. I’m filling a much needed gap in the market and I’m one of those people who are miss g out so I want to do it right . Caesar thanks for the vote of confidence lol 😞. I start the second half of my business plan classes on the 23rd of October. My luthier classes starts in Jan. My second half of my business plan classes has us finalize our business plans. But I am going to do this because there are a group of us that traditionally get ignored. It’s not that big of a secret but I’ve worked hard and I don’t know enough yet to just say it’s x kind of ppl I’m dedicating the whole company to , kinda like Ola did for metal players, but I’m afraid someone with more means will take the idea and run . I have a bit more to do yet before I’m close to launching So no, no scam because I have no product built yet to scam with. I thanked you because like an amateur I just assumed everyone would say good luck and let us know a soon as you can.
I can say I’m a left handed guitar player and I had so much respect for the fact that Ola could give metal players a company that dedicates itself to them that I got inspired and thought I could do the same for another group of players. I like how there was such a turnabout on the Boss metal zone. I can’t tell you how many videos I saw or other RUclipsrs talking about how the “Metal zone” pedal was the worst pedal ever made and reading the comments section most people tended to concur. Now the boss metal zone is known as a quality pedal with a massive sound. It’s an interesting topic for me because I’ve always used a boss metal zone ever since like 1994. And always thought it was a really good all-around distortion pedal that made you sound fucking awesome. I’m glad it’s finally getting the praise it deserves. Shit, do you remember the DOD Death metal pedal? That shit sucked! It was a valiant effort but by comparison the boss metal zone was truly at a step above. 🤘

nice rig..I own the Boss Katana MKII 2×12 and I love it..also make sure you are hooking your android or iPhone directly to the amp by using a OTG and USB chord..it makes life so much easier and you still get all the Boss Tone Studio options and more!

Those Myths about wattage seriously have to end. Even 20 Watts are enough to play live, loudness is not linear to wattage. Watch Colin from CS Guitars, he covered this extensively.
@@Awaclus Yeah, it's why it always pays to be nice to the sound guy.
It's the same like impact of wood type on the tone of an electric guitar. It's a myth, but too much people believe it.
I've played on an old Dynacord Bass King T with 45 Watts and it was one of the loudest amps I've ever seen/heard. Same goes for the famous Vox AC30. Even the small Orange Micro Terror can keep up with a full band, as long as you have a good cab with a high sensitivity
Rene W I still have a problem with this debate because if you actually play the guitars unplugged (or acoustically) you can hear a massive difference. I have an Ibanez with and alder body, and Birdseye maple neck with a Wenge stripe running through and that guitar sounds extremely bright vs the Matt Heafy sig guitar which sounds dark and beefy because of the mahogany body and ebony feet board. When it comes down to being plugged in the pick ups make the biggest difference but you can’t completely put off the tone wood debate as a myth.

5an7y I guess it depends where you live, but here a 6505 costs 5-600€ used and the harley benton is around 100-150€
I got my 6262 on Musicians Friend for $249 brand new. Poor man's 6505+. Treat it well and it'll treat you well. Deals exist if you do your homework or get lucky.

I actually have the 1x12 v30 with the randall rg1503, really loud, saving up for a 2x12 or 4x12 tho, but the 1x12 is even loud enough for gigging

@@wtfchuck6192 are you using your phone and hooking it directly to the amp?..I been using a OTG chord and it works perfect..I go to Katana guitar patches and download all the patches I want for free..its even better than the Boss Tone Studio and you don't have to lug around a laptop or hook up to a PC..its such a time saver and convenience
Great cab choice although I personally would go with the peavey valve king 20 watt. I have one and it screams through a 2x12 . I think people often forget how loud 20 watts is. Great video as always
