Civilization 5's theme is really good, but it doesn't capture the essence of humanity as Baba Yetu and Sogno di Volare do. The way Tin captures cooperation, community, compassion, greatness, and man's constant struggle to be great with music is extraordinary, it is truly remarkable and wondrous. You are, without a doubt, my favorite composer. Never stop, Christopher.

Christopher, I don't know if you'll ever get to read this but I'll leave it here for the aliens or the future A.I. to find. Christopher Tin, you are one of the great bridgebuilders of our time. Connecting videogames to reality, letters to music, prayers to song, the bridges you build allow a flow of admiration and affection to connect with aspects of our modern lives that would otherwise be quite separate and insulated. It was very emotional for me to see so many videos of Africans singing Baba Yetu. Entire villages sometimes. A song that was "just" an inspiring main menu banger for me, but it had such visible impact on others. To this day, I go on an hours long Baba Yetu sidetrack on youtube sometimes. And with Sogno di Volare, the dreams and fantasy of a genius long ago. The lyrics are hopeful, longing but the music crecendos in what I can only describe as a reveal of success, a dream fulfilled. The singers recite the dreams of old but the musicians reveal our human capacity for success. So a bridge not only between letter and music but within that same piece, a bridge between the times. We can't always see the bridges you build but we travel them nonetheless and they nurture us. Inspire us. Thank you.
Still listening to this after so many years! So many memories of coming home from school and being excited to hear this theme time and time again. One of my biggest inspirations, I hope to be just like you one day, Mr. Tin!
I honestly can't compare Sogno di Volare to Baba Yetu, as they are so vastly different, but both are my favourites! While Baba Yetu relays the message of understanding, like "we're all so different, but are united by so many things we share", thus giving us the idea of peace and cross-cultural communication, Sogno di Volare treats the humanity as a whole, with all our dreams and aspirations, challenges and endeavors, frontiers and discoveries, our desire for exploration and thirst for knowledge, and both songs relay their messages brilliantly.
You are quite right but actually that's why I would think they are similar in the sense that it's all about people, about each and everyone of us, be it in the past, current and future. This is why Sir Christopher Tin's compositions are touching all of us in heart. I feel that these 2 particular masterpieces being the theme songs of the Civilization make such feeling even stronger.
Our university's orchestra finally performed this masterpiece and Baba Yetu yesterday. Experience was just on the whole other level when listening to the live. Tears literally bursted out with pure rejoice and ultimate hope when the chorus raised to the climax. Thank you so much Mr. Tin for bringing this invaluable gift to the humanity.

A truly inspiring and uplifting piece of music. We are constantly surrounded by bad news and struggles; It can be impossibly difficult to see the light when surrounded by darkness. Sometimes, though, something comes along to help you realize that we can be beautiful, too. We can create works that move our very souls; In them we can see a future where the horrors of our past are nothing but a memory. That is what this piece of music does for me, and I will be grateful every day that there are people like Christopher Tin to guide us to the flicker of light in the blackness, so that we may not lose hope in our tumultuous modern world. Thank you, Christopher.

Or air travel actually being a normal occurrence is crazy. Engineering is awesome.
Thank you so much for uploading this and making the soundtrack of hope, wonder and future discoveries available to all.
You don't have to share this. You could have decided that this performance was only for the lucky few that were able to witness it live.
However, you DID take the time to get the video and upload it here for all to see and enjoy.
That, to me, makes you not only a brilliant composer. It shows that you are a very kind sir.
I think I speak for many people here:
A sincere thank you Christopher!
Err, it was hardly private! The DOG in the top left corner shows it was broadcast by the Welsh-language TV channel S4C (and the commentary at the end was in Welsh too - “Sogno di Volare, breuddweidio am hedfan, a geiriau Leonardo da Vinci wedi ysbrydoli’r cyfansoddwr, Christopher Tin.”).
Every time I watch this video, I think of my band and choir directors who always asked, “can I conduct this in cut time?”
My bucket list is to be on your very energetic team before I die.
Als ich das erste mal Civilization installiert hatte und diese Musik gehört (und Baba Yetu) war ich hin und weg 🤩
I'm a student from Bengaluru, currently living in Sirsi . I am trying to piece my life together and this song is being a big help . Invention I believe is the greatest gift of mankind it's the right to a free life , a prosperous life . But , it takes sacrifice and yet when the great bird takes flight , all else is forgotten as all that remains is the freedom to live , to grow and to build .
Long life for you, one day i will see your live, my country is poor (Madagascar) but i wil make my dream come true
Am I the only one who tears up with joy listening to this? 🥲😊
Я не знаю английского, простите, но даже по-русски я не смогу выразить то, насколько изумительна эта музыка, эта песня. Спасибо вам огромное.
This song is being used for a BEAUTIFUL skate routine by Sota Yamamoto and he won with it! Can't believe I got to see a crossover between my favorite game and my favorite sport :D
Christopher Tin : todas las noches paso este video, lo hago unas cuatro o cinco veces! Soy muy feliz viendo cómo diriges esta obra! Soy tu fan "Nro.1"!
Il cuore mio si sente a casa quando sinto questa canzone! My hearts feels home when I hear such a piece of Heaven! Meu coração se sente em casa ouvindo essas canções; o Céu deve ter um som como esses!
Truly a masterpiece.
I almost want to hate humanity but this song reminds me how much we’ve accomplished
just look at the guy he looks like he's having so much fun!
So many pioneers and their songs with me for most of my adolescence. As an adult, I am now a pioneer to start a real journey.
This and Babe Yetu are two of my most favorite songs in video games. You are amazing Christopher! Next Civ better have you as a great musician. I want to win a culture victory with this song.
For my relatives who fly as part of life. For me and my Dad who learned to fly.
This is the best performance of this song I've heard so far. The string instruments sound differently and make a shiver run down my spine :D
My other half and I have only recently discovered Christopher's wonderful music, I can't believe we've missed it for so long. This guy is a true musical genius, and I just hope we can get to see him perform live one day.
Magical. Well done Mr. Tin. Sky is the limit for you. Lead...
Somewhere among the stars, Leonardo is smiling. Awesome work Chris
Life is like a melody, the vibration of energy.
Love is the very harmonic vibration of high frequent energy, performing the soundtrack of eternity.
This is the god frequency, where everything imaginable becomes possible.
Seek inside - Love is the key.
