Desolation Sound has the warmest water on the coast. It's where the north bound and south bound tides meet, plus it's relatively shallow, so the water does warm up.
Look at you two! Sporting the waters like true seadogs!!! LOL! Killin it like CHAMPS! Looking like you're having more and more fun as the adventures continue. I'm beyond proud of ya
Love your Chanel so so much !!! Your so hiperactive and happy actitud mixed with his calm and relaxed mood + you're adventures makes for me a daily thrill to watch your videos !! Oh sorry ....almost forgot to mention the grass eating Bruce. Wish you al the best for you guys and stay safe !! . Se ya Next time , greatingings from Cadiz - Southern Spain
Desolation sound was my late fathers favorite place on earth, somewhere in the depths is his Fox sterlingworth double barreled shotgun, it fell overboard while he was goose hunting, and he couldn't swim.
Love your channel to bits, but wondering why you don’t use a loop to stern tie? Tie the end to the boat, lay out the line from the dinghy, put it through the shore ring or whatever, pull a bunch of line through the ring into the dinghy and lay it out back to the boat where it gets tied off again. We have found this very helpful, especially if you have to make a quick exit and the dinghy is already up. You just untie one end of the loop and pull it all the way through back to the boat, without leaving the boat. Also, we managed to get our anchor stuck in Melanie Cove, but didn’t give up on it and eventually managed to get it out. Cheers and thanks for great videos!
Hi Doug - thanks! We have 200 ft of floating line so when it’s possible to loop, we do now - definitely makes things easier! I think another 100’ would help to making looping possible more often :)
@@BreakingWavesSailing yes, we got caught out once with too short a stern line at 175 feet, but I found reel of floating line in my shed at home (??), so now we have 515 feet of stern line, but we need to find a better holder, so soon.. If we ever see you out and about, we’ll be sure to say hello. We frequent the area. Cheers
Fantastic! I recognized the lagoon entrance - I kayaked there with my family when I was a young teen (~40 years ago!), and remember sitting on the rocks eating lunch, waiting for the tide to slack and a black bear snuck up on me hoping for a snack (my lunch... probably). I didn't know where it was until I saw your video.
Nice video guys , your tender should fly with that motor even with the dog on board , try lifting up engine to as high as you can on transom , mine I lifted up about 25mm, and maybe go down a size or two in propellor pitch and you may have your own race tender 🤣
Yah, more care free stuff right?! :) If you like Delos with Crew vibes try ‘All hands on Deck episode. Greg and Emma will be appearing again soon on the channel :). Recommend ‘we bought a boat’ as a starting point if you want to go back and get caught up. cheers mate!
oh and if you could recommend us to the facebook channel as a possible new channel for those that miss the classic Delos (people say that to us), we would be forever in your debt :)
@@BreakingWavesSailing I went back to episode one and watched up to episode 12 then the wife said I had to go to the grocery store with her😩 haha. But now getting ready to watch the rest. And most certainly give a shout on youtube sailing channels for sure.
Too funny, we dragged anchor in Prideaux Haven during high winds at night, and we woke up seeing our boat trying to mate with Ariel, and her fine crew… if they are looking at this episode , Sorry for waking you guys sooo early… small world😊
@@BreakingWavesSailing We had quite the wind blow thru, big yacht blew into one beside. Other boats ditching their stern lines! We had dragged into Arial, woke up seeing their pulpit in our porthole.. That’s a sight you don’t want to see at 3-4 AM lol
Great episode. Love seeing such a different cruising ground to other channels. Can you guys talk about your long term plans? For you plan to circumnavigate or head south?
Hey Adam, thank you! Yah we should probably mention this in an episode soon but we are planning to sail the west coast of Vancouver Island next and then heading for Mexico after a re-rig. Currently it’s boat projects and living/working in Tofino for the winter :)
Great episode, beautiful mountain backdrop, what's the chances of seeing two boats of the same design in the water in the same location? In all of our travels on our Privilege 615 Catamaran, we have yet to come across another one...
@@BreakingWavesSailing 3 to 5 metres is average. The Bristol Channel is huge. 12 to 14 metres. The tide comes in so fast in some (rare) places, it can be surfed. But that's rare.
if you are up that way, you may want to go to Kitsault, up in Alice Arm. I worked there a number of years ago in a molybdenum mine. The mine was Above Ground. One time from the camp, I HAD A BLACK BEAR LICK MY CHEEK. See if ya can top that. This area is all Gods Country, eh. Yes I'm Canadian. I grew up in West Vancouver. Keep safe and have a great time
Don’t teach a water dog to jump off the boat or you will never keep them on the boat when your ashore, even harder to keep them aboard in warmer water areas
That’s a good point! we hadn’t thought of that. He’s way to afraid to jump off anywhere other then from the transom platform, and we can block access to it really easily with the captains seat or the transom board insert - but you’re right we don’t want him getting in the habit of following he to shore!
Fantastic - Boat + Retreiver + Scenery = Heaven 😎
Indeed! We are pretty lucky
You guy's make the water up there look warm...........Desolation Sound.....I know those waters and they are chilly.......Keep up the good work!
It is warm! warm enough on a hot midsummer day for a swim :) Thanks for following along!
