I lived aboard a 40ft sailboat for 6 years and took a year off to sail from Seattle to Mexico. I sailed that boat 33 thousand miles before selling it. I just discovered your channel and what's not to love? A beautiful woman with a sparkling personality, and a great boat, too. You've got a new subscriber and if you ever need crew for an upcoming cruise, I'm in.
@@davidlester6673 No, we stopped in San Francisco for a week to visit family, then straight on to Cabo San Lucas. Then we 'toured' around the Sea of Cortez for a few months, then down to Puerto Vallarta. We spent a couple of months in that general area, then back to the Sea of Cortez. When your boat weighs 15 tons and you're relying on the wind, your absolute top speed is usually about 10 mph, it takes a while to get places. When we found a place we liked, we'd drop the anchor for a couple of weeks, scuba dive, is and go sight-seeing on shore. We had solar panels, so we rarely ran our engine. In that entire year, we only stayed in a marina 6 nights.
you are very brave to take on a Formosa 51 i remember a decade or 2 ago there were a few of these in poor shape around the country, they just needed a new generation to come along and rescue them. Will Garden once told me there is no problem with a boat that can't be solved with a lot of love, labor, and money. fair winds...
Following several years now. Beautiful ship you have. I keep my 38' gaff rigged double ender at Pacific Corinthian Marina in Channel Islands. Sail out to Santa Cruz Island and anchored out many times. Last year crewed on a friends 70' Sport fishing boat to Catalina, Ensenada, Mag Bay, Cabo, La Paz. Hope to see you guys here. I have a truck if you to pick up supplies.
Hi Aubrey, We moved Watoosh from the USVIs over to St Martin this week. Hanging out here for a while before heading down to Antigua. Great looking sailboat by the way. Lonnie
Oh my gosh, you're right across the street from me! I live in Hollywood beach which is on the northern side of the marina. What a gorgeous boat, as you are. I had my own boat on the East Coast. A gaff-rigged Westsail 32, they are strong boats and many have circumnavigated in them. The furthest I sailed on mine was about 1000nm from Daytona Beach FL to NYC. But I also helped a friend sail his gaff-rigged steel 70' schooner from Key West Fl to well, supposed to be NYC, but we put in at Cape May NJ for some sail repair. Boats are amazing, and yours is one of the most beautiful I'm seen. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Beautiful lady, beautiful boat. I love that you live life on your terms. Can’t wait for swimming 🏊 with the great white sharks. Watched you for many years from your dollar boat days to present day. Enjoyed all your ups and down. See ya next week, Chou.
New subscriber sending greetings from Tucson, Arizona.. Looking forward to more videos of your adventure. I'm trying to decide between a Formosa, Vagabond and a Ta Chiao..
I was born in 1977 so its a good boat for being 45 yrs old -- :).// Also I was born when Star Wars came out in September and everyone left to go see the movie instead of me ...
At some point the mainsail downhaul might have got tangled up with &/ or caught up on something near or on the port side midships cleat. Splice the mainbrace & Shiver me timbers.
Next week on sailing Ms. lonestar , we learn about compresion bandages, medivac helicopter services, and why not to play with sharks . Blahahaha. Jokes 😂
Groovy video, incredible sailing vessel. However, swimming with Great White Sharks is what we call in the real world, stupid. Stay safe and stay groovy.
The 51 is looking great , so is the captain 😊🇿🇦
I can’t get over how beautiful your Pirate Ship is! Great job! ❤

I can't believe it took you a year to sail from Seattle to Mexico. What happened? Did you get lost? Broke down on route and waited for the AA.😀

This is my favorite sailboat. It really does have a perfect layout. Reminds me of Captain Ron.

Out of all the sailing channels I follow, Houdini is by far the most gorgeous of them all.
This the first time I have heard any sailing RUclips show talk about grate white sharks. I have asked but no one wants to talk about them. Thank you
I haven't seen any of your videos for awhile! Are you doing any more videos?
