for a quick fix to repair your damaged hull you can buy a wide tape that can stick even under water ,just clean the surface from debris and stick it on and your done till your ready to repair it
When this video popped up on my screen it said “uploaded 2 minutes ago” and no views. I got so excited because I thought I would be the first to see it. About half way through I checked again and it said 73 views. Bummer. I love you guys and always enjoy your videos. 😀
Just out of idle curiosity I thought I'd have a look at a Navionics chart, at chart datum it shows .5 of a meter (1.6 Feet) of water more or less 35 meters (115 Feet) straight out from the end of pontoon B. Obviously, you have to add the height of the tide to that depth but it surprises me theirs not an isolated danger buoy over the top of it. I'm in the United Kingdom by the way.
Yes so that's right where we ran around at a very low tide (I believe it was actually negative tide). I didn't know it at the time we were recording this video, but I later realized that I had my Navionics set to sonar chart and not marine chart which is why I didn't see the shallow water coming my way. A LOT of people have run aground at this exact spot, I've talked to the marina near by and they said they would look into having a danger buoy installed by Transport Canada.
..... think the main thing about the surfing is that you are doing it and that equates to practice manifests improvement .... sure love the scenery .... am imagining that the first time down the slide would have been quite refreshing if I got that right that the temp was 30ish that day ...... ouch on the slip charge, trying to remember what you paid when you were on the east coast of the Island, was it not around the $300 mark ..... did you ever figure out what you hit, was it one of those deadheads, but would that take a chunk out of your keel. There are deadheads that are constantly on the move. .... lets not do winter this year and just go straight to spring .... hope you are both well and safe with this crazy weather weather happening over the last while .... saw some clips of hwy 4 .. ugh ... thx for sharing a peek into your summer Ben & Alie ..... as always, ... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
We actually paid more like $850 a month in Nanaimo but at least we had power, water, wifi, garbage disposal, parking, showers/laundry etc. This spot is really just a gangway one floats with no other services, so we think $500 is a bit steep. All good though we are currently tied up in Ukee and it’s a good deal there. We hit a rock for sure, turns out it was marked on Navionics, but I had it on sonar chart instead of maribe charts - rookie mistake! Thanks for the message Peter!
@@BreakingWavesSailing ... well I was way off with that and as you point out you got a lot of perks with that ... thx for your response .... have a stupendous week ....
Yes it’s great! Yes we are hoping to do a sailboat tour and dinghy review this spring once we’ve finished publishing our north Vancovuer island adventure!
Keep these fab vlogs coming please ?! I know it’s hard work to put them together AND sail AND work etc etc but I’m sure your channel subscriber count will grow and grow 😊👍
Thanks Hamish :) We saw a nice sub increase after the bikini fail video so we are feeling extra motivated to keep it going! Stoked to get to weekly videos in 2022 :)
@@BreakingWavesSailing Not to say Alie isn't beautiful, because she is. But the reason I love your channel is because it's unique to see the awesome location you guys sail. Have fun guys
Great channel I have subscribed! We have a boat in Comox and want to circumnavigate the Island next year - and were wondering if you could share the location of where you ran aground?
yes I talk about it in upcoming episode I think, but I later realized I was using Navionics sonar chart instead of marine chart. The marine chart doesn’t show a rock but it does show less then 6’ of water where I hit. Right in between Tofino Resort and Marina and Strawberry island (best to stay close to the docks at TRM)

15;20m making sailing look elegant. Great job.
Just don’t watch the episode before this one 😬😂
Living the dream
I believe that's the first time I've seen anyone tack in a dress. I like it! :)
You should see what I can do in heels 😂

You probably hit the Lochness Monster. Or a submerged log. But I doubt it was a log.
Ouch! Be safe. On a side note, how is the guitar holding up? Any thoughts?
I appreciate the dab 😊. Any thoughts as to a good "boat guitar"?
Fun ⛵️
That gets really shallow in your slip area
Yea it sure does
👍👍👍👍👍
Your playlist for this season is quite a bit out of order... Having fun catching up on your story
❤️❤️❤️
Love how you support every video Cindy 🙂 always good to hear from you ♥️♥️
They really need to change the name of this channel??
this is not your best work, sir.
Ha ha. Grumpy comment of the week.
What would you suggest... Breaking Keels? :(
Voiceover: please slow down!
I found Alie's blonde sailing twin

ha that’s funny! they are super similar you are right. Also uncanny is the lead in Birds of Prey haha
@@BreakingWavesSailing I'll check it out, have fun guys
Hmmmm Navionics isn't to be trusted. As they say in their disclaimer......use your gut, sonar and sailing skills
The difference in volume between your soft spoken voice and the music is annoying.
👍👍👍👍👍
