Nice video! This lift was probably one that actually needed modernising as it always liked to overheat due to the glass motor room. Hopefully the new logic is more tolerant of the heat and won't shut down as much as the old logic.
I remember your video of that lift and your conversation with the Temple Lifts engineer. Let's hope they've now fitted an extractor in the lift motor room. Let's hope they also wire the new controller to work with the singing at some point. Thanks for watching!
I'd imagine it wouldn't be hard to bodge the singing module with Lester, it's just whether they actually want to do it again. They should really make a keyswitch turn the voice on and off or use a time clock so it doesn't always do it.
@@LiftAdventures How would they do that? I would have thought that the original ThyssenKrupp lift had a custom made controller for the singing to work.
Of course, everyone knows where it is! The Southbank Centre in London. Are there any more lifts here? And is the singing back? Also, no one has noticed...0:44 and 1:00...EPIC MOTOR! Was this lift really a ThyssenKrupp, or a generic installed by ThyssenKrupp? Or a JCB lift installed by ThyssenKrupp?
My guess to why these lifts and their logic replaced is because thyssenkrupp didn't wanna keep coming out to fix the lift when it overheats and they stopped working with the lift so they called in whatever company to Modernise the logic or thyssenkrupp could of replaced the logic themselves cause the new indicator looks to big to fit in where the old indicator was so they would had to replace the panel and thats why the thyssenkrupp logo still there thats just a guess.
Not quite correct, the singing lift was maintained by Temple Lifts. After 15 years or so of service, I wouldn't be surprised if the high usage and constant overheating had worn out things on the controller. The indicator I'm not sure about, they're definitely the original car operation panels, however the buttons have been replaced. I would need to do a side by side of the new indicator VS the old indicator and see if it's the same size. At the end of the day the lift company could have cut a bigger hole in the COP to accommodate a bigger indicator. Needs some research though. Thanks for watching!
Apparently the singing part of this lift has been disabled because the Southbank Centre haven't renewed the lease on the singing. Once the centre pays the creator of the audio recording for their work, the singing will be back on again, hopefully.
Nice video! I never knew this lift had been changed to have lester controls now though! It doesn't look too bad but it is a shame the singing has gone as that was what was special about this lift.
I think this was modernised during the lockdown. A lot of places had their lifts modernised / replaced, this includes the lifts in my next video. I've been told that the singing part of this lift does still function, but it's been disabled because they need to renew the lease on the singing. They have to pay to use the singing on this lift, and as they haven't paid the creator of the singing yet, it's been disabled. Thanks for watching!
We've heard all kinds of reasons for the singing being disabled - everything from "there are issues with the singing which are we're trying to deal with" to "the singing works fine, we just had to disable it as we haven't renewed the lease on the work". Your guesses are as good as mine. Thanks for watching!
No more singing :( It seems like the speakers that it used to "sing" through have gone as well, which is a shame (just checked - they are still there but I can't imagine it doing a duet with the Lester voice would sound too nice). It seems to run a little bit faster though.
I really didn't expect to see this when I arrived! I was completely shocked when I arrived - never did I anticipate the modernisation of such a unique lift. The speakers for the singing part are no longer in use - I remember they used to buzz slightly but they don't any more. The new speaker is behind the right hand COP. I believe that the motor may also have been changed to a more modern one - the fixtures and controller certainly have. Thanks for watching!
The only thing that made this lift interesting has now gone. Let's hope they reinstate it at some point - I intend to contact the Southbank Centre in due course for more info. Thanks for watching!
You can’t damage the logic controller from the lift lol! I don’t know why they would’ve replaced it either though. What logic did it used to have? Possibly something uncommon and difficult to work with?
@@Lift.Tracker I mean vandals could’ve smashed up the speakers and indicator and completely wrecked the buttons and must’ve been so expensive to fix it was cheaper just to replace a lift logic.

@@MichalM Interesting, so they not make it singy until they pay the lease for the singing. At least they temporary disabled the singing thingy, the character is not gone forever! WHICH IS GOOD!

It’s the famous singing lift! Though it doesn’t appear to sing anymore! Interesting how they replaced the controller
