Yes that’s it egg chips n beans for me now that I have my brand new ninja foodie! Just like when I was a kid, without a chip pan and it’s smells n health implications 😃😋
Thats exactly what I did and got great results, I did make sure all chips were close in size and added two tablespoons of extra virgin oil light and salt and pepper, I turned and moved around every five minutes and they were really good and not fatty at all. I just want to find a stainless steel inner pot but can't find one to fit it.
Thank you for a clear and no going round the houses video. I’ve asked to join your FB group and subscribed on the basis of this straight to the point video….hate you tube videos that natter on to long about irrelevant stuff!
Thanks for showing all the steps including the settings. My first use was Marie Piper chips for 4 people. Only thing I did different was to let the chips cool for 20 minutes after steaming and air fry for 30 minutes with turning after 20 minutes. Delicious chips thanks to you and the Ninja.
Make sure you use oil that is ok to go to high temperatures because if you don't you can run the risk of burning or setting alight there are oils that you can buy that can stand high heat this is for safety reasons thank you just see what oils can go to a very high heat
Alot of messing about, but great crispy chips in the end. Bought the Ninja Dual 7'5l, arrived yesterday and I cooked your whole chicken. gravy and roast potatoes. Chicken was so moist and the skin so crisp you could play a tune on it! Looking forward to the Ninja Dual Drawer adventure with you. Cheers, Tony.
Hi. Just watched your video. Very nice looking chips but a bit of a faff to get them to that standard. A few weeks ago I made some in my Ninja whereby I also pressure cooked them first. But I did it on high for 3 mins and it turned them to mush when I tried to transfer them to a bowl to coat them in rhe oil. But like you've replied to a few others its trial and error and we'll find a way that works for us eventually. Since then ive just done them on the air crisp setting at 185 for 20mins and shuffling half way through (but coating them with oil first of course). This seems to work for me. But a good video you've done there. I'll watch more of your videos in future. Cheers.
brilliantly british presentation ( not such unbearable hype), great info...Pleas e can you upgrade to the 11 in 1 version- i'm really trying to get steam fried combi marrow rings ready for stuffing
Thanks for the video. We’ve only recently purchased our Ninja Foodi and still getting used to it. We want to try the air fryer tomorrow and fancy homemade chips so your video is perfect. I’ve not had home made chips for years as the missus won’t have a chip pan in the house so now we have the Ninja I can’t wait to make these again. 😋 Just subbed to your channel.
@@1Pizza2Many Post update: Finally got round to trying your recipe tonight mate and those chips were absolute pukka. Had salt and pepper chips and made some chilli to accompany them. Best chips that I’ve had in years. Thanks again. 👌🏻
@@1Pizza2Many yeah we loved them. I’ve followed your Instagram page as I don’t have a Facebook account. We’ve only ever cooked chicken in the Ninja and did try doing jacket potatoes by winging it and they were a disaster. Look forward to trying more of your recipes in future. 👍🏻
I think the key selling point for air fryers generally is how little oil one needs. Those chips look pretty good. I love chips, but I'm always conscious of the amount of oil required. I have deliberately avoided getting a *deep fat* fryer for many years, because of (a) the amount of oil and (b) having to reuse the oil for several fryings, even if the oil is filtered. So either I buy oven chips, or Iceland sell frozen fry chips made in Belgium where some of the best chips are made. These are absolutely brilliant for shallow frying, but even then, there is quite a lot of oil needed. I use the shallow fry oil once only, then keep the used oil in a container. When it's full I take it to the local waste recycling plant where it is turned into biofuel. But it's an expensive luxury doing chips this way, hence my interest in air fryers. I'm definitely going to get one very soon, and it will be the Ninja Foodie. I just haven't decided yet whether to get the smaller one, which is almost certainly large enough for one person.
Turn the heat down and cook for longer. That way the potato can soften without crisping up too much. This way is used using the pressure cooker function first works well as the chips are very soft inside. 🙂👍
Nice video Mate and interesting way of cooking the chips. I have an older version of the Foodi but got in the Monster new one Max 15-1 Smart Lid version this week and will try your way I think. Is that your Daughters Cute voice on the video? 😋
Hi JayJay. Thanks for your comment. Yes very true that the potato 🥔 used will affect the overall outcome of the chips. However on this occasion they were a bag of cheap Aldi basic potato which tend to change quite a bit on the variety. In kitchens though we generally use Marris Piper's. 🙂
My hubby just bought me a ninja for Xmas (he thinks I don’t know, but I do) I can’t wait to use it. I was hoping to cook a rib of beef in it, but I’m worried it won’t cook or it’s not going to be big enough… any suggestions?
Is it the dual zone Ninja? Rib of beef is a great cut of meat. Usually cooked low and slow on a BBQ (check out my video 😁) I've never tried it in the ninja, however I would cook on roast on lowest setting and wrap it half way with some stock or apple juice and wrap in foil to maintain the moisture. 😊👍
@@1Pizza2Many I think it’s the 9 in one ninja… think I’ll stick to roasting in a conventional over, and everything else in the ninja till I get used to it… (that’s the surprise ninja 9 in one multi cooker I’m getting for Christmas I don’t know my husband has bought me 😁)
I'm sure they tate great but I must say it looks like the biggest pain in the arse making these. I'd just get a bag of steak house chips from the freezer in Aldi.
@@1Pizza2Many It indeed looks very nice, but it seems like it would take ages to cook for a large family? It's probably more suitable for 1 person or a couple?
Very fiddly procedure. I thought airfrying is just place and leave it in for some time but here it's same like in an oven and only difference is you don't have to keep bending squatting down to keep checking
Hi Jak, like anything there's always ways to end up with a better result. Like in a commercial kitchen I could just deep fry potatoes until cooked into chips, or I could cut, wash, steam, chill and then deep fry for a better result. Same applies to air fryer chips. Hope that helps. 🙂👍
Whilst i am a ninja fan a beef dripping deep fried will knock the sox off these, plus in half the time , 35 mins for chips is pushing the cooks time overboard . As an ex chippy owner sorry they wont have any flavour thats whats missing in this method .
Thanks for commenting. Yes beef dripping and a commercial deep fat fryer will always win on flavour and cook time. Saying that I don't know many chip shops that use beef dripping anymore. 😭
I thought that a ninja was supposed to make cooking quicker and easier, these chips took a painfully long time and a lot of fuss, give me my old chip pan any day.
I watched this video hoping the pressure cook would allow for softer chip chop chips, but those look like the driest oven chips. You could get the same result with a soaking in water and air frying.
Thanks for the comments everyone ☺️ Yes I agree they are not the quickest chips, but they are tasty and much less oil than deep frying. Even in a the restaurant I cook the potatoes twice or three times even when deep frying.... There are chips and there are chips. If you want 30 minute quick chips then cut the potatoes up, toss in oil and air fry away. 😀👍
The foodi just doesn't have the surface area for home chips without hassle. They look lovely but the faff is an exercise in patience. Larger airfryers are better for crisping. I imagine you could make tons of these using the new type megazone airfryer with a little par-boil beforehand.
Trust me.... They are far from rubbish! Try them first. Deep fried chips will generally win the contest as these only have a spoon of oil in comparison, but standard oven cooked chip won't touch these.
Can't be on, piss farting about like that to make some chips. Disappointed with my Ninja where chips are concerned, as everything else i do in it, is quick and easy.

You can't have too much faffing about when it comes to chips IMO. These are really tasty and perfect crispy-outside/soft-inside ratio, eating some right now.
I also just make chips in my normal ninja air fryer but I either parboil them first or place them on a dinner plate and microwave them for 5-10 mins. That way they’re cooked through before air frying as normal.

Why would you only use the oil once? It can be used many times, expecially if you are only using it for chips.
