  • This video was shot in 1982 on the way to the Lakefront in New Orleans...started from my house on Campagna Dr., up Judge Perez Dr....the Lakefront footage has been edited out...Cruised down St. Bernard Hwy on the ride back home...sad to say, many of the places in the video "aint dare no more"....Hurricane Katrina took alot of stuff, and some family and friends...can't take away the memories...

Thanks Glenn for this. With as many places that I travel for my work this 9 minutes and some change always brings me back to growing up in St. Bernard. My family owned and operated Sno-T’s Snowballs off St. Bernard Hwy. for many years and we always had B 97 playing in the background. I still miss Buds Broiler on Judge Perez.

Pretty cool. Although I didn't live in "Da Parish" I was a frequent visitor. I dated a girl from dere. We often made the trek to eat at Rocky & Carlo's which I was instantly reminded of when I saw the Kaiser Aluminum smokestack in this video. (I haven't been to Rocky & Carlo's since before Katrina) We always launched our boats at da Bayou Bievenue launch to go skiing mostly but we did make an occasional fishing trip. (as I got older I skied a lot less and fished more frequently I would go down to Blackie Campo's place in Shell Beach to launch the boat and go to the many fishing spots we had down that way.....many of my similar trips as the one depicted in this video were conducted coming back from fishing when our ice chests were full of specs and we were driving back baked from sun and beer.....and back then there may have been a "Big Fatty" or two or three involved :-) We used somebody's camp as a base in da bayou. We never knew who's camp it was but we just used the dock. We never went inside. (we had respect for other people's property) We just dropped off our boatload of people and ice chests full of beer on the dock and then took turns towing each other skiing. (on my 36" O'Brien and 38" Stinger skis that were lost in Katrina) I think the name of the camp was Little Big Sticks if I remember correctly. To whomever owned the camp I will be forever be grateful although we should not have taken the liberty of just using without permission.......sorry! I stopped at the Bud's Broiler shown in the video many times. (two # 2's please with onions......yum....that hickory sauce was good!) Stopped many times at that Time Saver (we called it Time Waster or just Waster for short) to pick up some beer and a pack of Zig Zag 1.5's! Dose were da days my friend I wish they never ended. I was trying to see if I could see a gas station sign close enough to see the price of gas.....didn't see one but I'll take a shot and say gas was around 65-80 cents a gallon???????? And finally for da "Ain's Dere No Mo" remembrance there was the K&B.

@welovequeen1 Not touring the parish like this unfortunately. I have more videos at different parts of the parish...Park Chenier....Bayou Bienvenue....Parade on Judge Perez..many of these are posted on my FB page... I meant to go back and shoot more video of the parish back in 1982, but it was one of those things that I never got around to. It is one of my biggest regrets. I never had any idea that people would react to this video as they have....Sorry

I'm from the parish, but, there are sooo many haters here. People who talk shit behind your back. I've never had anyone tell me anything up front though. It's always come at you sideways as if they will try and say something about you without saying it or very vaguely. Never up front or real with you or even coning from a good place. Only people who try and tear you down in a way in which you can't even defend yourself. Had this problem when I had a facebook account and lived In the Parish. So antisocial and vague never saying what they mean and meaning what they say. I only say this about certain individuals and you know who you are. I can't wait to get out if here. My sons family is here and that is the only reason I am.
