I think, and this is just my brain playing association games that even I don't quite grasp, that you might really dig Four Kinds of Horses (Bright-Side mix) by Peter Gabriel, especially after having just listened to Ren (and now I see why my brain made the association)... you've got two absolutely stunning brit artists with big time technical capabilities, lyrical and composition out of this world, and a love for 'obscure' references
@@akaalexanderking I love me some Peter era Genesis but I think everyone agrees that the split was... well it needed to happen. Peter wanted to go one way and the band wanted to go another. Little did we know at the time we'd end up with so much great music as a result; that being said The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (the version with Peter's vocals) is one of the most memorable moments of my musical youth.
Great reaction! Ren has a diverse array of music in his discography. This song grew on me once I understood the political overtones. If you ever revisit Ren, you might enjoy his Money Game series (3 parts that do not have to be watched in one sitting), which is more storytelling. Parts 1 & 3 are live one-takes with live audio (you'll probably notice the production progression). You'll get a better understanding of Part 2 if you watch the lyric video since the live version is acapella and only a portion of the song. His hip-hop(ish) album, "Sick Boi," released recently. I hope you take a minute to watch the lyric video of the first track, "Seven Sins," even if it's just for you. I love it. That and "Illest of Our Time" are my favorites on the album. One track, "Uninvited," is a lot of fun and one of his most radio-friendly. Quite different for Ren.
This is about "Animal Farm" the rules of the animals in that book are on the wall at the start it's a critique of communism he is very centered and likes to drop gems. In the book the animals take over but soon after the animals who rule become just like the humans who ruled them or worse & in the end the leaders end up gambling the fruits of the animals work with the humans within the house making the whole rebellion a futile effort. They are ruled by hypocrites who act like everything they said they oppose. Another great one shot video.
Phenomenal book, I remember reading it the first time and understanding what Orwell was doing page after page, and getting more and more mind-blown. Just like with Ren's music
If you want more listen to Humble and Chalk outlines, Hunger and Losing it for more rap or look at his band The big push for some excellent street performance, I shot the sherrif
I liked the reaction man! Also the analysis you do😊. Ren did say in an Interview with Justin Hawkins, that his dream is to produce a series for Netflix one day. And on Twitch he said it again, and that he fell in love with producing. Can't wait for your next reaction ✌️
The writing on the wall is from Animal Farm - George Orwell's book about animals rebelling against the farmer to create a better life for animals only to have the revolution taken over by the pigs for their own purposes. It was originally about communism but it had a much wider message. There are nods to so many classics... .Animal Farm, Clockwork Orange, Willy Wonka, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs... there are probably more. It will take a few viewings to get most of it. Is it possible to overthink a Ren video?
I appreciate your thoughtful critiques, that you allow the piece to unfold & don’t talk over it. Excellent reviewing skills. TY! Imo one can’t place any expectations on Ren’s multi-faceted talents & craft. I’m awash with Ren’s offerings that garner instant respect, appreciation & eager attentions to where he’ll take us on this ride. - His creations are the much needed musical infusion I’ve been missing in the banal void of formulaic music. Ave Ren! 🖖🏽
So. Many. Layers. Visually and psychologically, this is as powerful as Hi Ren in a very different headspace. Multiple call outs to Animal Farm, multiple Kubrick films, Nursery Rhymes, Guy Fawkes... and more.
@@akaalexanderking crazy right? The amount of planning in advance that had to go into that... Ren discusses it on his twitch stream post-premier and it's really cool to listen to how they built it up as well as shot the video.
Great reaction! ❤ It was a 1 take and apparently all his friends were the people wearing the masks. It was his friends apartment. So still low budget. 😊
Great reaction! Ren said on his Twitch stream that they filmed if I remember correctly from like 9pm to 4am in his friend's apartment. The rules written on the wall are from the book Animal Farm from George Orwell
What should I listen to next? :)
If you don't mind breaking your heart? Angelina Jordan dropped a new track that will leave your emotions in a whirlwind

Don't know who Angelina Jordan is, but very curious to check her out now!
Love Peter Gabriel, Genesis with him were one of the best bands in prog history 😍

@@akaalexanderking facts
This video was done one take. They were filming from 7 pm to 4 am to get it right.
Absolutely worth it!
If you want more listen to Humble and Chalk outlines, Hunger and Losing it for more rap or look at his band The big push for some excellent street performance, I shot the sherrif
Thanks Scott, noted :)
@@akaalexanderking All of the above are good choices. For Chalk Outlines, make sure to choose the live version.
Ishot the Sheriff Road to Zion Hip hop version is the best version to watch. Its in the street and is clearest.
I really enjoyed watching your reaction Alexander 😊 you are just purely you, no acting or ego! So refreshing. Lots of love to you 💖
Much appreciated Helen, thanks for watching :)

CLOCKWORK ORANGE meets WILLY WONKA meets ANIMAL FARM.
Here to help ya on your way to 100k subs.
Cheers, appreciate the support :)

Thanks Ave, appreciate that :) and yes, he definitely is a stand out in the whole music scene
Ren masters so many changres that you can't put him in a box. It's one of the things that makes him so fascinating.
Starting to realize that more and more, what should I check out next? :)
So. Many. Layers. Visually and psychologically, this is as powerful as Hi Ren in a very different headspace. Multiple call outs to Animal Farm, multiple Kubrick films, Nursery Rhymes, Guy Fawkes... and more.
And the craziest part is that all of that happens in less than 3 minutes
Nice
Glad you enjoyed :)
Surprise! It was a one take video :)
Amazing!

And no studio set, just Ren having access to what he knows works.. ie friends .
As someone who started his own label by simply putting together a bunch of friends, knowing this truly makes it even more special for me
