Nice reaction ☺ just a friendly tip, Ren does everything intentionally so when you see writing on the wall, stop to read it😉
Great breakdown of 14:21 another original Ren song. Love the Zeppelin tee by the way; I have the same exact one; except the lettering on mine is in red.
George Orwells animal farm mixed with the original willy wonka, a clockwork orange, the shining, The Witches of Eastwick, Creature from the Black lagoon, Dogs Playing Poker, by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge, the Sick boy easter egg hanging in the kitchen+++...Ren is insane...like...really a crazy genius
Plus Nursery rhymes in the lyrics: Mary had a little lamb & Mary Mary Quite Contrary. And then the masked Three Little Kitten Who Lost Their Mittens, sitting on the washer & dryer as they pan by the laundry room.
Facts, Ren is really amazing!!
Gg fit everything you can think of
What I find amazing about Ren's music is , 100 people will see 100 different overall interpretations of the piece.
@@davidmarcus5833 and each person seems to find something new each time we see the video again! Insane and Genius.
Ren directed the video, and as you correctly said, it was done in one take, it took them a few days to prepare the rooms, and plan the timings of the run throughs etc. The actual filming took place from 7pm to 4am to get the single take, because any slight trip or stumble, or someone in the wrong place at the wrong time, and they have to start back at the beginning each time. Ren said they bought 80 latex masks from amazon, and the characters were played by his friends, and friends of friends. They 'gathered' the shrubbery from the surrounding areas in a 1am raid, and taped it to the walls with packing tape. The back lights at the end of the video were from a friend's car's headlights.. His friend loaned the premises for the shoot... talk about low budget video, but it is still amazing...
Ren is among the most talented "pop" musicians of this decade. There is no genre he doesn't master, there is nobody who he cannot take to school lyrically, he has a killer flow, is a multi-instrumentalist, bad-ass beatboxer, his production is flawless and his videos are from another planet. And he's completly independent with nobody but him calling the shots.
It's basically unfair to the rest of the industry. Not that it deserves any better.
The interview you mentioned was with Justin Hawkins on his podcast “Justin Hawkins Rides Again”.
Justin Hawkins is the lead singer of British rock band, The Darkness who have had huge success. The Ren interview is 100% worth watching for an insight of the journey Ren had to take to get to where he is now.
Great reaction!
Justin Hawkins from The Darkness was the Interviewer. Legend! And yes Ren understands we need capitalism in a sort, but he despises GREED.
Pretty sure he describes himself as anti-capitalist in The Hunger. He doesn't specify what economic system he'd like to replace it, but he's openly anti-capitalist.
We don’t NEED capitalism it’s a snake eating its tail types system that’s based on ignorance and lack of creativity for new and sustainable systems that benefit all. Capitalism is the dream that you’re close to the millionaire when you’re likely more three paychecks away to be homeless. Capitalism blows-call me what you will, take out the government and make it community
America blows and the American government Blows. American constitution blows -Any option for American government is a hypocritical idiot.
America, the land of the ignorant
@@nathandts3401 actually I recall Ren himself writing that he is not anti-capitalist. Was his reply to some comment... just can't find that comment anymore. Not sure if it was on one of his videos or somewhere in the comment section of his community tab.. or maybe even elsewhere on his socials... he's very critical of the whole system I think, but he definitley said that he isn't anti-capitalist. So don't know where you're getting the "he's openly anti-capitalist" from...
Justin Hawkins is who did the interview with Ren! Great Interview! Also look out for another reactor who will be interviewing Ren soon Black Pegasus! He is gonna get into some of Rens treatments hes done over the years specifically the Stem Cell treatment Ren had done in California a few years back! Black Pegasus's knows quite a bit about it from his 4 year old daughter who the doctors wanted to treat her with some cancer treatments I believe chemo for a severe auto immune disease she suffered from! They refused to give that treatment so he did his research on alternative ways .. He said the stem cell treatments in America dont work cause of how they regulate it .. If you want effective treatment with stem cells you have to go out of the country like somewhere in Panama I believe. But it fully cured his daughter which is amazing! Hopefully Ren is past all that needing more treatments and hes on his path to recovering the damage left behind! But its nice to know that Ren can keep that info in his back pocket just in case
And interview with Knox Hill next Monday 🙂
Looking forward to both of these!
Ren becomes a 3 legged animal in the final scenes.
Awesome job! So few reactors are able to see the various composite layers/ overall message/ and interwoven symbolism in REN’s music. Fun to watch you two.
Really appreciated your insights & your perspective. (Interview was Justin Hawkins. Ren also has some other interviews w/reactors coming up soon.)
My theory is the ‘kitties’ and the frog and fish with the beat behind them were the necessary intervals for REN to get from one scene to the other… brilliant spacing!! Great reaction - as always!!
Funny thing (and probably unintentional on Ren's part, but who knows?). The creature in the tub is The Creature From the Black Lagoon--AKA The Gill Man. Think about Ren's last name... and break your brain a bit.
Three ladies in cat masks make me think of that little poem of the three little kittens lost their mittens. LOL Oh well, the things that pop into our heads with Ren songs. ☺
@@bethosbornefischer3315 oh good catch - knew it was TCFTBL, didn't know it was called the Gill Man! I have no doubt it was entirely intentional - he said he'd left Easter eggs many may never even get
To me the frog & fish in the bath referenced The Wind in the Willows a children's book about river creatures .
This was a complete flex by Ren. And watching all the reactors, yours was a joy to watch. It sometimes takes a lot of thinking to understand what he's talking about and so many just can't get it. Keep up the great job, you guys will get to 100k and beyond in no time!!
Somehow, he had his finger on the pulse of the future when he filmed the video last year 🤯 There's a storm coming, and it's bubbling under humanity's skin. How he could already sense that so far ahead of time is beyond me 🤔
Intuition getting wise...
😂😂😂😂 OMG Cedric !!😅😅😅 The ‘kitties’ on the washing machines bit made me spit out my coffee!!!
Same😂
That was good. 😂
Podcast interview: Justin Hawkins. Amazing interview🙏
Cool u got the Animal farm reference(not many people do). Its like Animal Farm meets Clock work Orange, Kubrik film. He wanted this video one take to give off a kubrik film vibe, he's a big fan. This was all done at a friends flat, plus all the people w masks are his friends. Supposedly they did the one takes from 7pm till 4am till they got the right shot. Thats dedication for Ren's Art💙
Great reaction u guys. Always love watching your channel. Peace from Slovakia☮
P.s. also Ren gives me a Willy Wonka vibe w the cane, or Alex from Clock Work Orange😁
I think in this one Ren's revealing himself to be the pig we've all been questioning. He shows the duality of his personality and conscience. He is Napoleon. He'll lead the revolution but the only one to benefit will be him. There will be no Utopia. He'll ruthlessly and tyrannically deal with any foe. You have his guard dogs leading the sheep away, at the end as he walks from the 'Manor' and the debauchery he presides over, he's on two legs but struggling to walk upright like humans. Just like the pigs at the end of Animal Farm. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
When you mentioned the cats on the washing machine then laughed as I remember it took them 9 hours to get this one take done right. Those cats were probably so tired and shaken up by the end of that.
Hey Cedric and Brian!! 😊 always love your reactions. You guys are great! Lots of love from a French fan. The British guy who interviews Ren is called Justin Hawkins.
The best part is the animals doing the Wednesday dance! LOL!
Absolutely correct about dogs playing cards painting. Includes the red light above the table and the painting on the wall.
The butcher scene is hiding a swinging head from Sick Boi.
Beyond the one take camera (audio was studio) can we give credit he walked backwards down stair with a cane over his head while looking at a camera and rapping over the track without an ambulance having to show up?
Yes💯😂
all done in a single take, Ren is something else
Weird fact: There has only been one recorded case of legal cannibalism in the US. A man had to have a leg amputated and requested the leg. He and his buddies figured they’d never get another opportunity. 😬
Love your reaction guys - I had watched the video a couple of times and did not pick up that he was saying leaders can be corrupt but now I am the leader and i will be even more corrupt and evil - you guys nailed that - thanks . Yes that interview with Ronnie Hawkins and Ren will really give a person a sense of who this young man is - how sweet and charming he is but also how very intelligent and well read . Any one who is interested in REn should watch that video - it came out a few days ago.
Correction:- Justin Hawkins not Ronnie Hawkins on '#Justin Hawkins Rides Again'
@@curmudgeon1933 totally correct - thanks for the correction .
Good react, guys! The interview is with Justin Hawkins of The Darkness.
I'm kinda surprised you missed the Clockwork Orange references, but there was a lot to catch.
Also wanted to mention This video like most were done in one shot! Ren and Sam are an amazing duo
👍🏾🔥. - C -
I love the whole stairway scene -- from the (German) Shepherd calmly leading the leashed lamb (to slaughter? probably re: lyrics slit its throat) to the "yum yum yum yum" background sound. He's so talented. Glad you two caught onto the Orewellian vibe early on. [All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others]. Remembering that the leader of the animals revolt, the pig Napoleon, winds up a tyrant & becoming more "human" - even selling the wounded horse to the knacker so he could buy whiskey. The dogs playing poker is kind of a double: the famous painting and the ending of Animal Farm, where the new animal leaders are playing cards with fellow human farmers. Smart of Ren & his team. So many little things.
Ummm... pussycats ... lined up at night ... *ladies night* ... vibrating machines ... just going to recommend urban dictionary on that one.
Can’t tell you how much we appreciate your comment on Ren, Lisa, because it definitely sheds a new light on things. We appreciate it!!! I I think I need to go back and read “Animal Farm“ again because it’s been a long time since I last read it.
Just out of curiosity, I did go to urban dictionary 😮😂. Thank you for all of your support. - C -
Orwell, Kubrick, Dahl, Cassius Marcellus Coolidge and many more references. Beat inspired by Black Skinhead from Kanye and a ton of Easter Eggs from Ren's previous tracks. What's not to like? Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!! Great reaction as always fellas.
You guys did not disappoint, exactly on point with comments!
Lol, you are right about the "kitties". They filmed for 9 hours, and if they made the girls sit on those washing machines all that time, the least they could have done was turn them on :D
The sheep being led is another Orwell reference. Good job guys.
The pod cast was with Justin Hawkins from the rock band The Darkness great reaction guys😊
Oh, Cedric! You pointed out a couple things I don't believe anyone else noticed. First you pointed out the the masked ones ( 😉 ) were in appropriate settings. And then (I laughed out loud) you noticed the kitties on the vibrating washing machines. You bad boy!!
"Listen to these songs with headphones..." Great advice!
Your commentary was great! (Props to Cedric on the nerdy Kraven mention. I would not be surprised if (nerdy) Ren was deliberately alluding to this.)
On top of everything else can we also applaud Ren for releasing this the day before King Charles Coronation 😊
Also, the interview you mentioned was with Justin Hawkins of The Darkness and is worth watching...
He doesn't hate capitalism. He hates corporatism. He knows where corporatism leads.
You guys should check out the writing on the wall just after Ren stands up and the camera pans round the room. The title of the writing is "Four legs good, two legs bad", which is the basic rule the animals live by, followed by the 7 laws they abide by when they attempt to take over the farm from the drunken farmer in Animal Farm.
Right now, REN can do no wrong ! Such a genuine genius ❣️
I think a lot of what Ren is saying is meant to be said from the "dark Ren" personification that is half of the "Hi Ren" song. And people take that as he is anti this or that. I see this song as entirely from the Dark Ren personification...no dichotomy...no bifurcated mind...just the darkness...just the savage Ren that takes over. "I get kind of sick when I'm stressed".
In "Hi Ren" and "Sick Boi" the Pig Butcher is prevalent. In "Sick Boi" especially he shows the Pig Butcher juxtaposed to his therapist. I think that is "Dark Ren's" interpretation of his medical caretakers. And this song is a complete manifestation of that theme...Dark Ren seeing EVERYTHING through the lens of the Animal Kingdom.
The picture in the frame where the dogs are playing cards, is a photo of Ren with guitar.
All filmed in one take as usual. Ren is a fucking genius. edit, that interview was with English singer songwriter Justin Hawkins, singer from the band the Darkness
Willy Wonka takes you on Toad's psychotic Purge tour of Animal Farm and A Clockwork Orange before welcoming you to Jurassic Park (where they keep the furries! hehe)
... (You're thinking of the interview with Justin Hawkins from The Darkness)
The Ren interview you mentioned was with Justin Hawkins (lead singer in The Darkness) podcast is called Justin Hawkins rides again
If you haven’t please listen and watch “money game , parts 1 and 2”.
Great reaction guys, as always. How can one young man be so talented? Red feels to me like a once in a generation artist! I can't wait to see you guys react to Dax - To Be A Man. Another amazing song from another amazing artist. Just need two amazing reviewers to check it out. 🎶🔥🙏🏼💖😁
LOTS OF oRWELL 1984 REFERENCES IN THIS VIDEO! JUST FOUND OYU GUYS AND SO FAR IM LOVING IT! REN HAS QUICKLY BECOME MY FAVORITE! LYRICAL GENIUS FULL OF EMPATHY AND HEART!
So glad you found our channel, and we are really enjoying checking out Ren’s music. Hope you take the time to check out some more other videos and we appreciate you. - C -
I'm glad I caught this video today (July 4th) with your closing remarks about tyranny after free-spirited Ren so masterfully portrayed a Cannibal King.
Great Zeppelin shirt! I remember seeing them live at Madison Square Garden, NYC in 1975 !! Great reaction as well.
Pinky and bored are references to Clockwork Orange.
Cedric, I'm down with all of your comic book references! Keep 'em up! Good reactions and analysis, guys!
You should hear how that low 808 bangs in the whip full blast🤯
8:42 Cedric, get your mind outta the gutter, man. There's not enough room for both of us there. 😂
Great reaction guys love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
The interview you mentioned was with Justin Hawkins lead of the band the darkness, amazing interview
Yes the interview with Justin Hawkins was good.
Yes Cedric you are correct, there is such thing as exercise style animal flow. Love your guys reaction as always ❤️❤️
I really need to read Animal Farm. I read 1984 in just the past couple years and OMG, how prophetic!
Justin Hawkins (rides again) was the English guy who interviewed Ren
You made the comment about the different animals seemed to be in an appropriate environment/setting. It got to the kitties on the laundry machines and I was thinking..... hmmm... I think that logical connection is lost there. But then...... hahahahaha.
Justin Hawkins lead singer and guitarist of the band "The Darkness "
The companion song to this one is "Sick Boi." Highly reccomend doing that one next.
It should also be noted that REN does happy/goofy songs as well. So it's important to try to not read too much into every single thing he does. Some reactors go looking for meaning that doesn't exist and forget to enjoy the music.
LOL! Figures that we'd hit a comment on the ol' "Maytag Massage.." Yup. Saw that too.. 😆
I love you guys. I really hope you guys get to 100k. Y'all deserve it
You guys nailed the reaction, great job 👏🏻
May check out Ahiahiahohah {Bonus Track} By Ren
Just watching this now - its great - thanks for the suggestions had not heard of this song - its a low key song w lots of harmony and clever rhymes - who is the female singer on it
❤
The stairwell looks extremely like the one Ren used in Violet's Tale when the camera pans upwards and he sings "he'd paint her black and blue and dark, she never stood a chance". Just sayin'.
Love you two so muxh I'm very glad I found yall recently . I hope yall are keeping well muxh love from sacramento California
I totally agree with the headphones. You might want to think about clock work orange also.
Ren's patient report (posted on his website) gives a little more insight. Here are a couple of excerpts: " ....Patient is eloquent and articulate when spoken, yet erratically bounces between philosophical and political topics with no cohesive thread." And "... Often complains about visual and auditory hallucinations involving figures in animal masks, which seem to have an Orwellian origin due to his affinity for dystopian literature." He is certainly creative with whatever goes on his mind!
Really enjoyed your breakdown at the end.
People eat animals, animals eat animals, animals eat people. It's an equal opportunity food source. ☺ I just love this video and the lyrics.
He did this live sat on a bus it was insane
I need to up my reading game, I have been messing around with True Crime, and dabbling in Albert Camus, Schopenhauer. Still have yet to pick up Orwell 😮💨
Ren is a very humble person, but this song expresses that he is ready to take on the rap world, and even Eminem has no chance. This dude is the kingh of cadence.
You guys are absolutely dope with this reaction.
Thank you for taking the time to watch our channel. Make it a great day. - C -
Great reaction once again guys 👌
Cedric, loved your observation that we need to be careful which leader we follow or we might be led to our slaughter. Wise words
'Your illegitimate king lost his crown'...I wonder who he was talking about?
Really enjoyed your reactions & discussion. Ren put out acoustic version of Animal Flow this week & it is incredibly great! I don't know how he is able to do it in that version also--very powerful.
Such a fun and crazy video. So artistic.
You guys are the best!
On top of all the book & film refs (Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies, Wind in the Willows, Clockwork Orange, The Shining) i think i caught another one. "I will be kind" is Xerxes to the deformed hunchback traitor who defects to his side, in the movie 300.
From what I know Ren had seen people with animal heads in his hallucinations.
nice that you do your take not getting stuck on animal farm only
Very amazing analysis
Thank you guys. Self-goverment. Wow. Keep going. One world. One future.
Two things off the obvious Animal Farm main layer in this video.
1. The irony in claiming himself King and the reference to the parliament a few days before Chaz the 3rd's coronation.
2. Am I really the only one to see the late great Ian Dury (white suit and walking stick) in the last bit of the video. Tribute or simple coincidence? Ren, if you're around, enlighten me. And Hit Me (figuratively) With Your Rythm Stick if I'm wrong.
Justin Hawkins was the interviewer of Ren.
excellent reaction/analysis. thanks.
As in Orwell's Animal Farm,,it's a commentary on how Capitalism leads to Socialism, leads to Communism, then the cycle repeats,,bc of our greed~for power,money,luxury.....the level of attention to detail in this is mind blowing, right down to the shade of blue on the walls being the same as that in the farmers house I the 1999 movie~!!
He's not talking about the US, in some of his tunes. There's a lot going on in the UK right now.
The purring in the mix of the kitties.
There is a peaky blinders video on youtube with this song paired. Amazing edit and fits very well.
Great job.
Really good reaction guys! Thanks. Think you have the mood and concept correct. The original song was NOT based in Animal Farm. That got into the video as they were creating it. The acoustic version is so different. You will love it!
all shot in one take
Thank you
The US was never created under the pretense of self-rule. Local rule was an element of it, but there were codifications for federal government from the beginning. The idea was that the 3 branches would keep each other in check, but then again, they never would have imagined corporate personhood nor the idea that large business interests could directly influence legislation on the back of their monetary power.
Justin Hawkins was the guy who did the interview!
I'm actually rocking 2 12 a 10, all this stuff you can imagine goes with that.
Y’all need to listen to his new song that just came out!
