Hello, i have the stainless steel machine X1 that looks like yours, but unfortunately lost its tamper. I bought a 53mm one, but seems they don’t fit. May I know the exact size of your tamper? And how much grans of the grounded coffee you put into the handle? I put 18g and set the grinding to 1.0, but got the flow so slow… thanks for your answer, appreciate that and they will help me a lot
Invest in a grinder, without it you'll never know what you're missing. I'd recommend the Baratza Sette. Its an expensive investment that you make once, but there's a reason for that.
My daughter found a X1 second gen for $20. Researching I got to this video and up to $170 estimate in parts so far. I am new to making espresso so I only have that I am not picky with taste on my side.
Better off with a Gaggia Classic Pro if you’re buying in that price range. Build quality is sound since manufacture shifted back to Italy. All parts easily serviceable and can be easily modded from 15 bar to 9 bar.
I have just read some really good things about the Illy machine. I had a Elektra Micro Casa a Leva. A beautiful looking machine but very unforgiving. I downgraded to the Gaggia because the Elektra was expensive to maintain and have enjoyed consistently good shots with the Gaggia. I hope I didn’t seem rude/dismissive of the Illy as it is clearly a well designed and capable machine.

That's beans are darker than my nightmares... which they will start appearing in as my No.1 terrors
Nice machine! But you should upgrade you grinder to a conical burr grinder!

Does this also take pods or it is strictly grounds?
