I admit, I have the advantage of age, and total lack of motivation to go shopping, and this helps. My much loved un-niece says I am so uncool that I'm cool! With wedding stuff, I remind myself that the day isn't aboout me, so I can just wear my best outfit and blend into the background. With purchases online, I have a shopping list and get what I need only. At the moment, I am updating my home a little, and buying things from Facebook Marketplace and funding it by selling other stuff that I no longer need. It's rather fun. My influencers are mostly on the subject of living below my means, so are not a problem. To be honest, I had never heard of the people you were talking about, so it really doesn't bother me.
This is really great! I get a LOT of email marketing and follow a number of people who promote clothing and home decor. I've managed to resist the home decor in recent years but clothing is always a challenge. Luckily I've found the add to basket and then walk away without checking out has really helped me.
Thanks so much for watching. It is so so difficult to resist shopping, it just feels good! And the brands do everything thy can to make it feel even better. Hope the tips helped, you're not alone!
My best tip is to make a wish list with the random stuff, you are considering to buy. It has really helped me, because most of the time, I forget about the item. Wish you all the best 🙏
One thing I've recently adopted is to move all my direct debits and standing orders to savings accounts etc to leave my account on the same day a few days after getting my monthly salary. Things like subscriptions where it can be hard to move the payment date, I pay from a credit card instead but have standing orders set-up to move money from my current account into the credit card in preparation for its forthcoming payment. All the money that remains in my current account is exactly what I have to spend. I find it creates that mental barrier that makes you ask the question "do I need it now" whenever I am tempted to spend money on something.
I love this! I used to find I was constantly buying new storage baskets and boxes. I finally realised this wasn't because my house was a mess, but because I just kept adding more and more stuff to it. Then i spent some time going through what I had, considering what I needed and that then fed into my buying habits.
I’m really impressed by this channel. You come across as approachable and real. Each video seems to examine different aspects of finances, and whilst I’m not particularly broke (this week lol ) it is still worth watching my money ! Thankyou ! xxx
Thank you so much for this! I really appreciate your kind words. I found my life got so much easier when I started caring more about my finances and taking more of an interest. I hope to pass on a little of what has worked for me! xx
I was raised by a single mom and we “never had enough “. This carried over into my adulthood and I’m just now starting to learn what enough looks like for my family. I struggle even with the food shopping this week I deep cleaned the pantry and threw out so much that had expired all because I kept thinking we needed more. I just did the food shopping and only needed a couple of items. I normally spend $100 each week this time it was only $40 and it wouldn’t have been even that much except I needed medicine for my son.
It's amazing how much food accumulates over time isn't it? I've really dropped the ball on our jarred and canned foods recently, so i'm going to set myself a challenge of using it all up in the next few weeks.
Are you being influenced? That’s such a good point!!!! Thankyou. Luckily I’m not really a follower of influencers mainly really frugal channels. But I have parted with my cash after watching an influencer bang on about a product in the past - which incidentally when I received it I HATED it 😂 xxx

Cancel out of all tabs immediately! Asap! Go outside, take a stretch. Pause before "Buy now" Has saved me on multiple occasions. And I was actually thinking about this....but it would be a neat idea to allocate one day every 2 weeks to "today is my shop day". Like......Make Friday your only day you're allowed to shop (w/ a budget ofc) so that forces the rest of the days to wait. I thought of this just today because I really want some great mood lighting for my day room/library And a fancy bluetooth clock that has rainbow colors..... But I know I already spent my budget and I need to give myself money for the rest of the week in case I need it for something more important. You can always find discounts on things. Even if you miss a discount, it WILL happen again. Honest.
Yes I love that idea! So true re discounts, I have noticed virtually all the places I shop from have a sale at least every 6 weeks and for some they only have one week off before the next sale arrives!

Such a great idea, it is so much easier when you're clear with about what money you actually HAVE to spend on stuff.
It’s so hard to stop buying random stuff, but these strategies are super helpful.
Thanks so much!
After years of thinking about it , i want to try a low buy year, thank you for all your tips!!
I found a simple way of not buying stuff. I moved to a smaller place. Less space to put the stuff I hav3 already got. Let alone new items

Same! We’re downsizing too!
