I think the change is with the tail end of Gen Z. They grew up with celebrities being shoved down their throats. There is no appeal to follow these shiny, impersonal characters. Why idolize a Kardashian when books and video games offer exciting and relatable characters for teens. You know a celeb is boring when they’re more 2D than a fictional character lol
one of my favorite things about Robert is that when something doesn't work for him the first time, he tries again a different way and sometimes he keeps trying until he exhausts every method he knows. I know we've all seen make up people who use something once, hate it, and throw it out. not Robert. love that he wants things to work and puts in the work himself. another reason to trust him, really

I never use Lorel anymore! I used it early 2000’s.

If you owned a brand (makeup, brushes, candles, whatevs), I would purchase in an instant, because I trust you and your opinion over many, many others. You deserve to be a household name!

I enjoy his videos and know he has a lot of knowledge in terms of makeup. However the success brand takes WAY more than just knowledge of the product.

The only thing I've heard about Kim's makeup brand was "why's it so overpriced?" And I get it. It's browns. It's nudes. Nothing special about it...

Given her house looks like the world's most expensive sensory deprivation tank, the sad beige overpriced makeup does not shock me at this point

@@countcainit’s not that it doesn’t exist at all he just got sent the chinese exclusive version of the palette instead of the international one. They have slightly different releases between the two recently. International got highlighters and slightly more colourful blushes and the chinese market got more pale blushes and concealers/colourcorrectors. I know this cuz I follow quite a few cbeauty lovers and was really wanting the chinese version of the palette TT
the funny thing is it does exist it's just China exclusive hahaha he got lucky if you ask me

I adore Robert. Even when he's telling us what he doesn't like, imo he's still professional about it (yes, his comments make me chuckle but they're not personal attacks on any brand). And that is why I trust him with all his recommendations.

i was so disappointed w/ the twilight palette for so many reasons, but one of the biggest irks i had was that there was SO much potential for a twilight collection. there are so many cool concepts you could do (character features, vampire vs werewolf palettes, color changing things based on the vampire eyes to name a few) and they chose the most boring route possible. it felt like something made by people who didn't actually watch the movies or have any kind of nostalgic investment in the series.
i sometimes use my mother hairspray and it’s VERY hairspray scented. that’s how i imagine that l’oréal setting spray so i’ll pass 😭

The Twilight palette review made me giggle. At the same time those colors are true to Western Washington in the winter time. 😂 But I get it. At the same time most of us in Seattle have 50 shades of black in our wardrobe.
I will confess that I'm one of those ppl who used to use hairspray as a setting spray back in the day!! That's one I won't be getting, I'm partial to the NYX matte setting spray anyway 😊
I use the NYX matte setting spray, can't go wrong with NYX

Oh my, I bought the L'Oréal setting spray a day before your video came out claiming it was crap, and I agree 100%. It was such a bad setting spray, felt horrible, and smelled awful, I felt like I needed a gas mask while using it... and in a pinch I went back to using my extra strong hold hairspray over my makeup....😬 The setting spray was so expensive, too😭 13 euros!
Phenomenal makeup! The lip is just perfect with the purple eye.

I WAS SOOOOO UPSET WITH THE TWILIGHT PALETTE 😭😭😭😭 It doesn't tell a story even SLIGHTLY with those colors! I saw it and said, "what's the point of all those grays, when they blend together for another shade of gray???" it feels useless!! they should have had greens, blues for the ocean and Bella's blue item at the wedding, OBV blood red, more orange-y red for Bella's truck, white, black, brown (dirt/earth), light blue (ocean spray/original movie color scheme with bluish white lights), amber for the vampire eyes, etc. They could have done SO much better. I reread the series like 5 times when I was a young teenager. I think I could have planned the colorways much better than the pros picked for this palette. They could have even brought on fans that are artists, and had them help. Ugh it's just totally a lazy cash grab with 0 effort put in.
I was watching the last episode of Glow Up last week and thought 'why have they never had Robert on?' and then you and James pop up in the masterclass audience! I was excited 😂
Thank you for talking about that awful Glossier foundation brush! No one talks about it for some reason and it’s so bad! The few times I used it, I kept accidentally grazing my face with the metal portion. I finally cast that clunky mess into my makeup graveyard drawer. Didn’t much care for the foundation either.
Don’t get me started on the Glossier perfume can’t smell anything and please don’t tell me it’s how it reacts with my skin it’s a con imo ❤

Im on disability and live in an expensive state and have a very strict, expensive diet, so im SUPER picky about what i buy (i dont return things, and i pan my products. So if i dont like something, ill pay to ship it to one of my friends just so it gets used😂) but i saw a product at Sephora that really intrigued me, and i thought for sure id love it.
The product im talking about is from a brand called Good Light, and its called Taste of space lip milk.
Its a VERY matte product, it doesnt give any moisture or hydration, it actually dries out my lips, you have to put on a tiny bit and its white out shade of white, and you have to blend it in and it goes transparent. Its the thinnest product ive ever felt, you cannot layer it or put anything over it, unless of course you enjoy sandy lips, because that is what anything turns into if you try to put anything at all over the thinnest layer of product in the universe. Thinner than air.
So anyways, it is a very confusing product to me, ive tried to figure out if theres a different way to use it or if its meant to be worn over something else that isnt mentioned anywhere from what ive seen😂 i just cannot think of a positive about the product, i guess other than the scent. It has a nice raspberry scent. 🤷♀️🤣
Robert, have you tried anything from Vampyre Cosmetics? I've pre-ordered their complete Buffy the Vampire Collection because I'm a die-hard fan, but I haven't seen hardly any reviews and I trust your take!

some releases this year are very good - tho im tired of seeing 100 blushes and lip liner releases (although i love lip liners and blushes) but last year, i think, the releases - SPECIALLY THOSE PH THINGIES THAT WERE SO *BORING* - were very but very boring and this yr there's new things or more variety

The purple on your eyes is GORGEOUS! :O As a lover of purple, this makes me so bloody happy! You have so many iconic eye makeup looks! Also, hard agree on all of these! WE WANT MAKEUP THAT EXCITES US! I'm like a kid at the sweet shop when it comes to makeup, I want makeup that makes me happy and excited. But some releases have been pretty disappointing. For Glossier, for example, I've only ever liked their stretch concealer, cloud paint blush and their mascara. I've tried their eyeshadows and lip products and I HATED them. They felt horrible on the skin and were so DRY feeling and looked really bad too. Now I'm seeing these new releases and I can't fathom what they were thinking. :(
Absolutely love these kinds of reviews, hearing your thoughts and the way you word everything! However, I would really appreciate visuals of the moments you described that disappointed you in the products. For example, I would’ve really loved seeing your attempts to apply the Kosas foundation, the highlighter from the other brand, etc.

Worst of 2024 for me easily was the supergoop skin tint 😅 patchy, dry, strange color range, and idk why but every influencer loved it! It went right back to sephora after a week of trying and failing to make it work
We need him to collab with something. I want a perfume or candle from him. In masc, neutral, or feminine scents. Same with candles. He just seems like he smells good. I trust Robert with all my beauty needs.

So glad I'm not the only one who wasn't feeling the twilight collection! I love a grungy color palette but i feel like it just was not right for a twilight release. I'm also not particularly nostalgic for twilight (at first i hated it because it was popular but as i got older i had genuine problems with the story) so I was already wasn't exactly excited, maybe I'm biased lol

I'm OBSESSED with the Kosas one, sometimes I fall asleep with it on and my skin genuinely feels amazing after finally removing it 😂 it stays on my skin all day long with literally zero issues.
The worst product I’ve used this year is definitely the Revlon Suede Ink Lip. Talk about running dry clay across your mouth. It dried out my lips and felt absolutely awful on application.

My biggest makeup disappointment this year was one of the Huda Beauty Creamy Eyeshadow palettes. One of her nine pan palettes. The formula just kept getting muddy on the lids when you tried adding more than one shade and creased on me so badly. I loved her grunge palette so much though so my expectations were high.

The new Supergoop skin tint. It looks nice and dewey when applied but then either melts off if it's too hot and humid, or get dry throughout the day. It somehow disappears as the day goes by as well. It ends up sitting in pores. It's not terrible, but for the price point, it's not worth it. The wear is like the Maybelline BB Fresh Cream but less hydrating.
Your eye make up is ALWAYS amazing. Always. The look in this video is just WOW! Looks fabulous.
