    And so our three themes of the Halloween storylines come to pass. The horrific supernatural of Silent Hill showing the "clone" it never wanted the answers, leading to the paranoia of The Thing showing the truth of the identity was more than the"clone" could bear, leading to the fear of the abstract of Nightmare on Elm Street showing the fear of becoming what you hate so much.

    I'm reminded of something Rob Walker sort of once said in his and Doug's Real Thoughts on the Matrix movies. "It's better to have a twist that's obvious rather than one that's surprising but doesn't make any sense."
    Mechakara's reveal was something a lot of people saw coming but it's still a good twist because it works with what's been established. It makes sense within the established narrative. I thought it was going to be the Entity thinking it was Linkara but Mechakara actually works a lot better.

    This truly is Mechakara’s “hell” not only is he human and looks like his most hated organic, not only does he have the memories of his past failings for over a decade (thanks Whatley for the nod) but now even IF he found a way to kill Linkara, he will forever be stuck in a replica body of him forever.
    He also knows that when/if he fails this will be his final chance to kill Linkara and if Linkara finds a way to end him this time well, to quote Thanos:
    “No more resurrections this time”

  • @anotherdude5974
    @anotherdude5974 6 лет назад +89

    So, Mechakara
    I think that everyone called it but i gotta say the reveal was great and extremely fitting for the character.
    So it seems that he was completely rebuild as a full human, that's why it couldn't be detected as a clone or alternate dimension Linkara, he was completely rebuild but because of the influence of the alternate Pollo it is not a 100% replica, maybe it doesn't even count as "human".
    Also, yeah, of course Mechakara is the villain for the 10th anniversary, he's the very first "serious" villain the show had & he's the most "comic book villain" out of all of Linkara's rouge gallery so it's extremely fitting
    But one question still remain... How in hell did Mechakara get here? he just kinda showed up out of nowhere

    • @Blaizokaran
      @Blaizokaran 6 лет назад +5

      How did they he get here, you ask? Honestly, a better question would be, what can't the Plot Hole do? Because at this point, anytime it's introduced as a major part of a story, it can generally be assumed to be the answer for anything nonsensical or otherwise unexplained.

    • @anotherdude5974
      @anotherdude5974 6 лет назад +9

      No, no, the Plot Hole is mentioned here only because Mechakara was close to it once so he still radiates its energy, what rebuild Mechakara was Europa which was shown to be able to even revive people.
      Also i think the Plot Hole it's kinda of the definitive Deus Ex Machina, you literally don't need to explain it as it cannot be explained really, at least that's what i think (The Plot Hole was a Nostalgia Critic thing at first anyway, it's normal it isn't that explained, in To Boldly Flee i literally don't know what the plot hole was supposed to be)

    • @tavila
      @tavila 6 лет назад +8

      I’m asking the same question. My working theory is that the radiation on Europa must burnt itself out resurrecting and converting mechakara to human, but a dead body on Europa would be counter to “the wish granting field.” So what power was left teleported BiomechKara to home. Aka Linkaras house.

    I'm thinking that with the comic's ending, it was more along the line that it ensured that things would play out as they normally would. After all, Freddy was let free on a technicality after his arrest warrant was found to be improperly notarized. Having someone that's not supposed to exist notarize a legal document of that nature sounds like the very definition of a technicality. Implying that yes, Agent Carter was the reason Freddy eventually became the dream demon, and in turn making this thing a whole cyclical mess... or else it unintentionally signals the reboot of Freddy into his Jackie Earle Haley style.
    As for the story... I did see it coming, but the way that the revelation was laid out was very well done. Excellent mood lighting, the telltale thunderclaps, and the reveal of what he did to his face... Loved it. I am so looking forward to what the 10th Anniversary brings.

All his memories are clashing together with his new emotions, he’s basically going insane. So now Linkara isn’t just dealing with a calculative machine with his face plastered on it, but now that Mechakara is human and insane, he’s now dealing with a psychopath.

  • @DurradonXylles

    This comic sounds like it had some very, _very_ fantastic ideas that had too many cooks spoiling the stew.
    The idea of the slasher survivors coming together to face off against Freddy and Jason one last time sounds like it could've made for a great comic. The idea of the US gov't attempting to once again weaponize forces beyond their control, and someone like Ash having to bail them out and save the world would've sounded fantastically over-the-top. Hell, _any_ comic featuring the survivors of either killer coming together and trying to find asylum, or simply showing them dealing with the trauma and aftermath, could've made for a great send off or honor to them. Hell, one of the survivors of Freddy becoming evil or even being used as a puppet by him could've made for a great psychological thriller if it was written well enough. The problem is that these should've been separate, focused concepts that _actually got_ fleshed out.
    This comic is very much half-baked in terms of writing and presentation. Hopefully, if we ever see these three horror icons face off again, it'll either retcon this comic or simply go off in a different direction.

    That reveal at the end O_O Like... yeah, saw it coming (and also saw youtube comments that spoiled it) but HOLY S#@$ that was incredible. Like... that was one of the best moments in the entirety of the storyline segments. Just... that moment when... (spoilers ahead)
    Still here? Okay.
    That moment when Mechakara turns around, covered in blood and Seris(i think that's her name?) jumps back in horror? I actually jumped back in my seat with her. It was legit scary. You can see, hear, FEEL the utter disgust and humiliation that Mechakara has for the face he stole and how frustrated and angry he is with how badly this side excursion has gone. How utterly broken his mind is, how bloodthirsty he feels. The acting is just... I mean, yeah, you've been at this for 10 years, there would be improvement, no doubt. But that highlighted it, immensely.
    I know this is a bit early, but congratulations on ten years, Linkara. It's been a wild ride.

      Furious Sherman lets face it, death is just something you shrug off in fiction. Pick up any comic book and any character who was supposedly dead will magically come back to life through some deus ex machina BS

      I'm thinking that, when the Contest of Champions arc returns, we'll get a new main villain. After all, no one in Linkara's rogue's gallery can put together a massive, multiverse spanning contest, except for *maybe* The Entity and even then, The Entity wouldn't want to, and it would have no time to even if it somehow wanted to, which it wouldn't.
      So, if we have a main villain for the CoC, it'll have to be a new one on scale and motivation alone.

    • @furioussherman7265
      @furioussherman7265 6 лет назад +3

      The main villain won't be whoever's putting on the Contest, but rather someone in the Contest. It's already been established that the Contest of Champions was created by omnipotent beings with too much time on their hands. If anything, they'll play an anti-heroic role.

    I think Mechakara needs to eat a Snickers bar. Because now he's VERY human and VERY horrified by that revelation. Cruel irony that the Plot Hole turned him into his worst fear.

    Woo, nearly caught up now.
    I got to say though it was pretty obvious, it had to be Mechakara for the 10th Anniversary. The first villain of AT4W (and arguably the most iconic). It even ties in to the Spoony clone thing since Mechakara was the one who resurrected Spoony with the Black Lantern ring. So yeah, good job on using that old bit of continuity as foreshadowing.

    OOooh, that comic. . .that comic is a masterwork of great ideas and awful execution. I weep for the potential it had. :( And I'm not even a fan of the franchises in question! I just -- love crossovers in general, and this could have been so cool and instead we get creepy incest times and Freddy as usual taking over everything and so much pointless death and uuuuuuugh. (Also, Carter, your signature means SQUAT thanks to you being a TIME TRAVELER and thus NO ONE KNOWING WHO YOU ARE. If anything, you've probably ensured Freddy will go free because "who the hell signed this? This is not an official signature from the police station.")
    As for your own storyline -- wow. Looks like most of the theories were a touch off-center, eh? It is rather fitting that Mechakara would become that which he hated most -- FLESH. And that effect at the end was AWESOME. Now the only question remains -- what do we DO with him? (Beyond get Erin away from him because this is probably going to go poorly for her otherwise.)

    So, we have an inverted Springtrap scenario. Instead of human remnants trapped inside a robotic shell, we have robotic remnants inside a human shell. The visual specification was nicely handled as well; showing that everything down to the bones has been restored, but the robotic bits are beneath _that._ He can’t just strip it off anymore, it’s been reset from a flesh suit to a full body.

    Geez that was creepy. I got this entirely wrong...not about the mechakara thing, just how he was doing it.
    My prediction was going to be one of you guys walking in on him panicking and babbling bout how he was horrified about what he was remembering while seemingly also talking to himself. When he tries to say who he was he clutches his head screaming, whoever discovered him tries to go up to help, but then Clonekara screeches in a metallic tone to stay back. He mutters about how he remembers repeatedly, this time his voice having an echo to it, they ask what he remembers, then clonekara, with the last of his conscious strength, pays homage to terminator, rips off his hand like a glove revealing that very familiar hand prop. Then in the voice he’s been known for he does a callback to his first fight with Linkara and says “It’s me. Pollo.” Eyes glowing red, with a slasher grin, the discovery saying the name he’s known for in response, “Mechakara.”
    I was also wondering if they were gonna do a Jekyll and Hyde motif with the more sympathetic good Clonekara(maybe leftover of the Linkara from the other earth that the Plot Hole healing stuff mixed in when it rebuilt Mechakara, due to remnants of skin from the skinsuit) and the wholly malicious Mechakara.
    Boy howdy am i glad they didn’t do any of that. My idea definitely sucks in comparison to this.

    • @mitchellbaran7917
      @mitchellbaran7917 6 лет назад +2

      Well, not *all* of it sounds bad; the idea that some lingering aspect of the parallel-Linkara was restored and merged with Mechakara's mind would add a bit of a psychological element to it in having him still question who he is.

    Well... at first I had a feeling it was Mechakara until the title for the storyline that they gave for the 10th anniversary. I'm not sure if it was called the Clone Saga to throw us off or not but great job if it was. But I wonder how he came back after all at the end of the movie, they said that whatever it was that was healing them on Europa was disappearing and I assumed by now it was gone but it may have to do with the Plot Hole Linksano mentioned. But man how appropriate that the 10th anniversary fight will have Linkara fight his greatest adversary for possibly the last time. And I am curious to see what new Horror comics will be reviewed for the next years now that we've went through Silent Hill, The Thing and Nightmare on Elm Street one last time.

    Soooooo...... called it? Sorta? I DID guess that it was the flesh Mechakara had been wearing when he was destroyed during the Linkara Movie, but my logic was that it had just healed up the flesh minus the robotic super-structure and thus regrew its own brain and organs from Linkara's genetic template. The body's "memories" would have just been vague muscle memories and developmental carry-over from the Plot Hole energies trying to regenerate a being that was never truly alive in the first place.

    Late to the party, but for all Linkara's sympathizing with the short shrift that Freddy's Dead gets in this comic, he seems to forget that the plot of that movie was that Freddy was spreading out of Springwood to at least the entire US, if not the world. Thus, it's pretty in keeping that he'd try to spread to more than just his old town. I mean, he killed all the kids there anyway.

    • @AT4W

      It's one thing to want to invade the dreams of kids outside of Springwood - something else entirely to want to sit in the White House cracking jokes and leading an army of demons.
