I still remember hearing this song, seeing the album cover and falling completely in love. After all this time I'm still listening to The Babys! Love you Michael Corby
It’s weird that it’s Corby taking the guitar solo. I was always so pretty sure it was Wally Stocker who took this and the vast majority of all the solos when they were both in the band
I'm 69 going on 70. I've been a fan of the Babys and John Waite since day one. His voice is phenomenal. Better than Plant, Perry, Rose, Mercury, and other rock icons. Better than all pussy pop vocals today.
I loved "The Babys!" They should have been called "The Babes "... they were all nice looking! 😍 My favorite by them is 'Every Time I Think Of You" Happy Sunday 🕊 Thank you for sharing! 💖
John Waite went on to have huge #1 hits with his solo 1984 hit "Missing You" and another #1 with the group Bad English "When I See You Smile" in 1989. And the song that the Babys are most famous for and one that still gets airplay on classic rock stations "Everytime I Think of You" from 1979.
My brother Chris was his guitarist in the early 70s. They played the North of England in those days. John was such a tart, but he was a lovely guy. Keep these videos coming cause Chris isn't well now. He's in Lancaster Royal Infirmary with kidney problems Love to you all, his brother Nick Phillips.🎸
@@gregoryduncan3067 Hmm. Has that already been released as a clip?🤔 I know I saw a video somewhere recently of them doing it. I don't think it was TMS, though. Idk.
@@gregoryduncan3067 Jonathan Cain joined the band just after the Head First album was done, which Every Time I Think of You was on, so he didn't actually play on that. But he did play it live with them, I saw them open for Alice Cooper at that time.
Bass is my favorite instrument, so sexy sounding thanks for naming the brand. Hadn’t heard of it before, ex husband was a bass player, and heartedly agree about John’s voice here, great! People underestimate how hard it is to sing lead while bass playing, skills!
Tony Brock is an incredible drummer, plus he can sing great too, Silver Dreams is one of my favourite songs ever. I was living in London in the 70's, I can't believe I never saw them playing. 😢
Loved Midnight Special. Fought sleep to watch it before VHS recorders so l could view it later.😊 The Babys were underappreciated at the time, but l am glad up and coming generations are discovering them.😊
Fab! Love how Aretha enunciates “Babyyss” haha cute, Oooh the band is hot! They sound fabulous too! Like this, yes I’ve got the time Babys 🙋🏼♀️. . . Bassists who can sing lead are so cool, it’s a lot harder than it looks!!
wow. this is the BABYS I remember with John Waite on bass and vocals! this is killer. My favorite Babys song. They cut out the drum ending but it sounds better. Whoever thought of taking Waite of bass and putting getting another bass player was a idiot! This band rocked and was tight. There's no 'new' band out there today can rock like this. great song.
Tony Brock, the drummer is the only backing vocalist that looks comfortable singing. Corby and Stocker, the lead guitarist look like they're barely engaged
What is Michael Cirby doi g these days? Last I thought I read was he was living happily with his dogs or some such. Amd that might have been 15 years or more ago. What ia the latest?
I just DIG the fact that it’s ARETHA introducing the band. What a colliding of worlds.
A nice cross between hard rock and smooth pop, The Babys are quite underrated.

Is Waite playing a Zemaitis bass there ? It sure looks like one.
Yes, a very hot looking bunch of band members.

@@curtisphilumalee1447 He sure is.
Masterful performance by one of my favorite bands--please keep uploading all The Babys' performances on Midnight Special.
Great! I saw the original telecast. They also performed "Looking For Love" and "Wild Man". Hope you post those as well.
Looking For Love - my favorite! 😅
How gorgeous and sensational is the true genius behind the band, Michael Corby !!!
yes more midnight special videos of the babys they sound great live
I loved "The Babys!" They should have been called "The Babes "... they were all nice looking! 😍

Boring
"Change"
Midnight Rendezvous! from their album "Union Jacks" (1980).
Love Tony's drum set up!.
My brother Chris was his guitarist in the early 70s. They played the North of England in those days. John was such a tart, but he was a lovely guy. Keep these videos coming cause Chris isn't well now. He's in Lancaster Royal Infirmary with kidney problems
Love to you all, his brother Nick Phillips.🎸
I hope the best for Chris. :)
THANK YOU MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
GODDAMN ARETHA!!! YOU SAY "BABYS" LIKE YOU WANT TO TAKE THEM HOME!!! GODDAMN!
The Babys were a cool group! Awesome performance here. I love Everytime I Think of You. Great hair on the guys, too! 🤩😎
They did "Everytime I Think of You" on this in 1979 with Jonathan Cain in the band.
@@gregoryduncan3067 Hmm. Has that already been released as a clip?🤔 I know I saw a video somewhere recently of them doing it. I don't think it was TMS, though. Idk.
@@StephanieJeanneThey did it on the Midnight Special. It was released on that Time Life DVD Collection they put out.

I’m trying to decide whose cuter here; finally figured it out = it’s a 4 way tie!! 😛
"Midnight Rendezvous" was always a favorite.
I got to ask John Waite if he still has the Zamaitis Bass.. he does! He also still has that voice!!
I was wondering if that was a Zemaitias bass. I didn’t realize that he was making basses in 77. I would love to have an early one. So bad ass.
Bass is my favorite instrument, so sexy sounding thanks for naming the brand. Hadn’t heard of it before, ex husband was a bass player, and heartedly agree about John’s voice here, great! People underestimate how hard it is to sing lead while bass playing, skills!
Wally and Tony still have the Babys going and they rock hard!!!
Tremendous right there
Tony Brock is an incredible drummer, plus he can sing great too, Silver Dreams is one of my favourite songs ever.
I was living in London in the 70's, I can't believe I never saw them playing. 😢
Silver Dreams is certainly fantastic! Good call!
@rickr2029 Tony looks a million $'s in that video. I never knew he had such a beautiful voice & could play the piano , what a talent! 🤩
Wow... One of my favorite bands - The Babys. John Waite had such a career in rock. They always reminded me of The Cars, but with a bit more polish...
Loved Midnight Special. Fought sleep to watch it before VHS recorders so l could view it later.😊 The Babys were underappreciated at the time, but l am glad up and coming generations are discovering them.😊
Right on time with The Babys upload. Thanks!!
Always good seeing John in action. 😎
Good song.
I saw them open for Journey May of 1980! I beleive it was their last tour as they broke up and Jonathan Cain joined Journey. Great concert! 🎸🎸
Amazing.
John Waite playing the bass and singing. I saw him in Redding, CA
That rhythm guitar tone from that Les Paul is WICKED
They opened for Pat Travers and Rush in March 1978. Freedom Hall, Johnson City, TN!! Great band who got upstaged a bit!!
Fab! Love how Aretha enunciates “Babyyss” haha cute, Oooh the band is hot! They sound fabulous too! Like this, yes I’ve got the time Babys 🙋🏼♀️. . . Bassists who can sing lead are so cool, it’s a lot harder than it looks!!
cookin' little tune...
Didn't know John Waite was in another band. They sound cool ❤
One of the few bands that I dug at first listen.
Outstanding 🎸 🥁 🎤
Killer band great songs great vocals even after Johnathan Cain joined lol.

8/14/1977 Buffalo NY. Piper (Billy Squire) opened. The og Babys were great!
Aretha looks beautiful
She’s gorgeous & love her music too!
Raspberries vibe.
What keys are they playing in?
The key of E. Chorus is in G.
Before he wasn't Missing You or Seeing someone smile, John Waite was a Baby and debuted for the first time in 1977
nice riff
I liked this band, they were different than my favorite led zeppelin and others the sort
First listen
Michael Corby!!
It had little baby neon letters in the "The". It's appropriate for this band.
How f'n great were The Babys I ask you?
Tony Brock, the drummer is the only backing vocalist that looks comfortable singing. Corby and Stocker, the lead guitarist look like they're barely engaged
Nice! Hope there's more to post from them. Horrible name for a band, but some great songs.
I always found them kind of boring but they are very good!
What is Michael Cirby doi g these days? Last I thought I read was he was living happily with his dogs or some such. Amd that might have been 15 years or more ago. What ia the latest?
Corby was great. I like the old Babys. I like the newer Babys. But in the beginning, Corby was great. F*cked over in the end.
Take Peter Frampton, have him drink all day long, then wheel him up on stage. That gives you the “Babys.”
Great band live, but the production on the albums sucked all the life out of them.
(
There is a reissued box set that fixes that, especially the first album. Check it out, it’s totally worth getting
My friends went to one of their concerts and were disappointed that they were "just another rock band". (:
Yawn
