Bro you're pragmatic and real. Coming from a similar background and age. You know that it's all about the story. On another note your jacket fits you well😂 keep making videos.
Jacket looks fresh man! Appreciate your content super helpful, keep creating! Creators don’t sleep on this channel 💯 Also.. Drake should have you voice the intro to another Pound Cake track haha lowkey you could pull it off 🔥
Don’t sweat what you ain’t giving ‘em cause what you are giving is abundant! Love the perspective, love the insight, specifically how to “get back to the drawing board” and make sure that what you’re doing is helping you move down your path and not someone else’s. It’s an important lesson that we have to stay open to re-learning in new ways as our circumstances and the challenges we face change. Selfishly, I’d love to see something on how to think about beginning to build out your “kit.” Baseline lenses/grip/lights why/how you would prioritize things, mistakes you made when doing it and how your experience informs how you do it now and what you’d advise folks starting out. Thank you for sharing, I’m very excited to learn from and see where this goes!
Really appreciate your thoughtful comment here Jared! I can definitely share my thoughts on your suggestion. I had something basic planned for getting a kit started, but love what you added. Thanks again!
I think the big difference between the Komodo and the P6k (The P4k is not a great comparison IMO) is the Red Codec which makes it a Baby Alexa Mini. On the downside the Red camera has a lot of things like blackshading, preheating the sensor like a pop tart before shooting, and you have to nail the exposure/ use the stoplights......, all that's kind of annoying if you are a creator and not too technical and makes the Komodo need a Cam Assist to really get the value out of it. The P6K allows you to focus more on the creative especially for a solo shooter using BRAW and less on the settings. Thanks for shaing!
Loved this kind of sit down, dissection, and just talk about your thoughts on this upgrade, as someone who is in awe from the "Red" brand name this really gave me some perspective
Thank you man! I’m sure I’ll go into why the RED works in specific scenarios for me in the future, I’m hopeful that will offer a little more insight on why someone would chose this camera.
Word. Your IG friend is right. I've come to terms with the fact that filmmaking, for me is a never-ending teeter-totter between a very expensive hobby and a poor life decision. These decisions, investments, expenses, are not binary; it's a way to broaden YOUR wingspan 'til you fly above the rest of the flock. Now I'm blathering :)
Thanks. Happy it helped. It’s tough saying go with this over that. It really depends on the individual. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@PaulJayOramaI made an order for the Komodo and after a few months waiting I decided to cancel and go for the 6k Pro and I have been struggling with the decision for a long time. As you said, I knew that a client wasn't going to see a dramatic improvement as the final product but I also knew that I would have seen something that I am chasing and that I am wanting to get to. Perhaps just that slight RED tint to the footage, unquestionable skin, difficult to explain. We get inspired by things we cannot explain very clearly and it is a process of growing as a filmmaker. However for me, it wasn't the right time and basically I couldn't afford it right now with the pandemic and other expenses I had. But the process is still there and the right time will come for me to get the Komodo or whatever will be in the future.
stumbled upon your work while I’m currently in the market for a bmpcc 4K - I would love to see some lighting breakdown videos! love your work & great video!!
Paul! This popped up on my home page and had to watch/subscribe. I myself have the siii, pocket 6k and komodo. I think every camera has their strengths and weaknesses. The pocket likes to handle shadows cleaner than the red but thats common knowledge that reds have always been noisy. Appreciate you coming out with an honest answer because I had a similar thought process. Since grabbing the komodo it has opened doors for being hired as a second cam op to match other reds and that in itself has helped. Looking forward to future videos.
100% in agreement with everything you said Jason. I’ve been having fun trying to learn how to shoot moody scenes with this RED. I like to get it right in camera, but as you mentioned, reds need some extra love in the shadows. It’s also opening a few doors for me as well. Thanks for watching, subscribing and sharing your thoughts!
I’m in the same boat. I’ve made the jump to the Komodo from the P4K. Thanks for putting yourself out there. I feel like you’re just as awkward as me in front of the camera. 🤦🏽♂️
Hey man, I really like this video. Thanks for posting. I am actually about to buy the red komodo too, even though I have a pocket 6k, ursa mini pro g2, and a 2 sony cams. LOL but someone told me, if its gonna make me happy and I'm gonna be more pumped when I take it out to go shoot, then go for it. (but like you said, make the money back plus a profit) Enjoy the camera man!
We own a bmpcc4k, For our next project we want a camera that is Netflix approved and with good image quality. Can you please suggest me that should I go for Komodo or Ursa mini pro 4.6k g2 It's a huge confusion for me man Great video by the way!
Thank you! Think it depends on your budget and shooting style. The benefits you’ll get with the ursa is that you’ll be working with braw and have the same workflow. More affordable. The image is very close to the pocket 4k. Hit you’ll have to deal with the heft of the camera. The Komodo is pricier, and you’ll have to learn to work with r3d files (not difficult) but you’ll get a great image and something that is light and easy to rig. I chose the Komodo over the ursa mainly because of the size and because I wanted a camera that paired well with a Gemini, and that could help open some doors. Hope that helps!
@@PaulJayOrama thank you man! For me image quality is more important. Shoud i go for Komodo for image quality? But that frame rates in Ursa is tempting tho 😂😂
@@BunnyWhispers9 haha. Hear you. The image is great from both cameras.the dynamic range on both (komodo and ursa) are great. If you utilize the extra frame rates, then I think you have your answer man!

Thank's Paul for this honest advice. So much value in this short, simple form.
I want to learn about lighting.
