  • Last year's devastating earthquake in southeastern Turkey also struck Syria, claiming thousands of lives. Survivors faced significant challenges, particularly in accessing clean water.
With support from a SlovakAid grant, we rehabilitated over 4 kilometers of water pipes in Latakia, ensuring reliable drinking water access for 31,000 residents of the Datoor and Al Russassye neighborhoods.
On a recent visit to Latakia, we witnessed the tangible progress of our project firsthand, with kilometers of pipes now laid underground and water flowing into households!
These hard-pressed communities now have access to up to 50 liters of water per person each day, alleviating concerns about meeting their basic needs.
During our visit, we also conducted a needs assessment in the affected areas, which will guide the planning of our upcoming project.
