These vector base softwares (xd , ai and etc) needs to rework on their text engine.. It needs to support simple things such as creating table and bulletpoints. It is very useful feature, I wonder why they haven't put it into consideration. Indesign has it. And I think all vector base software must have it as well.
Illustrator is an illustration program that works with vectors and specializes in illustration. InDesign is meant for layouts with type. It's best practice, even with photoshop which is pixel based, to lay your text on top of the image with a layout app that has the engine you are looking for. It's my guess this is split up in that way to keep the programs from running slowly.
cool this is much easier than pages charts I been using for my flags charts with images wish there was a demo stration of charts with images but this is helpful!
Question. you draw 5 Horizontals or rows, and 3 columns. the end drawing show 4 columns and 6 rows. I can't get my table right. am I doing anything wrong?
Bro can you please guide me how to trace letters for acrylic?? Actually m working as a graphics designer but when a project of 3D acrylic letter board comes it always troubles me
Adobe should be ashamed of themselves for lacking proper table options in Illustrator. This is so primitive it hurts. But I guess it is still the least painful method, so thanks a lot for the tips.
How are you going back to adjust it? I'm not seeing the icon you're clicking on. Can you please tell me how to make the icon visible? Thank you @Dansky
Hey sure Tirso! Make a selection, left-click and drag whilst holding 'Alt' and 'Shift. Drag downwards and it will duplicate whatever you had selected directly underneath :)
After creating the table: With the white selection tool, click the corners of the cells that you'd like to change size and then move them either with the keyboard arrows or with the white selection tool :)
Illustrator is simply not made for tables. This is not the best way to make a table. Nothing is linked, and if you have to add/ delete a line, it is a headache to have to restyle and fix all your data, huge room for error this method. InDesign is made for this type of thing. Use InDesign instead if you are able to.

Many thanks for your video. What if I do not want an evenly distributed table? I mean, the first column is wider than the other columns.
cool this is much easier than pages charts I been using for my flags charts with images wish there was a demo stration of charts with images but this is helpful!
I've been using indesign and then copy/paste. Not sure which one is better but indesign is fairly quick and easy to customize.
This is the best illustrator tutorial I have ever seen! Great job...

any way to edit number of horizontal/vertical lines after closing the dialog (or leting go of the drag-drawing)?
illustrator have very poor capabilities for tables, indesign is the tool to go
How are you going back to adjust it? I'm not seeing the icon you're clicking on. Can you please tell me how to make the icon visible? Thank you @Dansky
You save my life! Thank you! :)
I couldn't find the table tool in latest illustrator cc
Hey Dansky, can you tell me what keys did you press on 0:32 to duplicate the lines? Thanks!

Thank you!! I've learned a lot with your videos. Keep on it, thanks :)
Eww. I though there would be a more elegant solution to adding the text into the boxes.
i was doing exactly that before i watched this tutorial and thought i was being silly. damn. might as well make a table on microsoft word now lol
So can i adjust the rows
Like can i make small
What if I want to remove the lines on top of the rows and just have line seperation?
Thanks
I would have enjoyed seeing multiple lines of text in one cell.
This isn't quick. I would use indesign for tables, illustrator for vector illustrations
Or for people that only have Illustrator, just export a pdf from excel or sheets or whatever. 1000 times faster than this lol.
heyy im totally a noob here. i just cant click the line segment tool and idk why pls help
i cant see the rectangular grid tool dude..
Thank you............
Or copy/paste from excel
What if I wanted to make one column or row a bit wider/taller? Thanks
After creating the table:
With the white selection tool, click the corners of the cells that you'd like to change size and then move them either with the keyboard arrows or with the white selection tool :)
I need to make a nutrition fact table in Ai. Can you help? Pleeeease and thank you.
i dont have this option in AI
NICE INTRO SONG
Can't even find the rectangular grid tool from the very beginning, so it wasn't much help.
Bottom of the toolbar on the left, click the 3 dots, then from the top-right corner click the menu icon and switch to the 'Advanced' toolset 👍
