I've been looking for a channel that I can watch the whole permaculture project form from the bottom up. So many channels that are years into their project, no way to see everything that went into it unless you dig back into the history. When I went down to AZ I was thinking how cool it would be to have a little parcel just to experiment on doing this kind of project. So hype to see what you guys accomplish. Cheers from rainy ass Oregon 😆✨️

Very nice. Many years ago I did some experiments with a rudimentary DIY solar water heater setup. I had it roughly enclosed with a used window on top. My setup was poorly executed, but it still worked remarkably well. Some folks use such a similar setup for heating air as an additional heater during cold but sunny days. Instead of pipes filled with water they used empty soda cans inside an enclosure, and a small computer fan to distribute the air. I started with the soda can air heater setup, and later I added copper pipes to it that I could fill with water, but I did not use a pump, the rising warm water inside the copper pipes created a tiny but steady flow. I did it just out of curiosity, I never actually used it to heat my house because it was just a lose experimental setup. And I am not allowed to drill holes in the outside walls of the house.
Based on the experiments that I conducted myself I can recommend the DIY solar heaters, no matter if it is air or water, because they really work well. A good setup could even create boiling water. 👍

So many ways, so many designs! We get over 200 sun days here on average, we'd be fools not to take advantage of that constant of nature in any way we can! ✌🏾

@@GrowTreeOrganics The only thing that people need to be aware of when they want to heat water with the sun is the legionella bacteria. The legionella bacteria thrives at certain water temperatures. In 1999 we had one of the largest outbreaks of legionella decease in history. At least 32 people were killed and 206 people got seriously ill.
The West Frisian Flora took place in a place called Bovenkarspel between February 19 and 28 in 1999, at the time one of the largest indoor flower exhibitions in the world. In Hall 3 there were several hot tubs on display, one of which was filled with a fire hose that had not been used for a long time. A very aggressive variant of the Legionella pneumophila bacteria had developed in the stagnant water in the hose. The seller of the hot tubs had not put chlorine in the tubs because no one was allowed to sit in them anyway.
Nobody did go into the hot tubs, but visitors from the exhibition got sick anyway and many died as a result.
So that is most definitely something that you can't ignore and that you need to be aware of so that you can do something to prevent that you get sick. Either by heating the water to a temperature that is above 55C or 131 Fahrenheit, or by flushing out the pipes, or by adding chlorine to the water.
More importantly is that people need to do their own research on the subject. And I can't be hold liable based on the information that I give. I just want to make people aware of the situation. I am not a scientist. 👍

@@GrowTreeOrganics I have always wondered how well those flat car AC condensors would do with heating water when they are installed inside an enclosure with a window on top. For example if a few of those were connected together and inside the same well constructed and insulated enclosure.
I know for a fact that I could get the air temperature well above the boiling point of water with my rudimentary setup. While it was not even properly sealed and it had no insulation whatsoever, and my pipes were installed in a parallel setup while they should have been installed in series, so I was not able to get the water to boil. And here in the Netherlands the sun intensity is much weaker as well. We are located just as far north as Calgary in Canada. But at your location, with that much sun intensity, I think that those flat car AC condensors would make the water really hot, maybe even hot enough to make the water boil.
hahaha I am addicted to these subjects. I can't help myself.

@@insAneTunA no worries, the AC condenser might do a pretty good job for sure! And when it's already put together with a few adjustments, that makes it a better plug and play feature! I may look into things like that for more ideas for our structure and future structures!✌🏾

on one of your other videos i watched earlier you talked about needing to churn up the sand layer to unclog the sand filter... you know... there is a critter that does this. Malaysian trumpet snails. they eat that biological layer at night time and during the day they burrow down into the sand to sleep/hide from predators. i know about this because i've been researching having a dirted sand capped planted out fish tank. if you watch the youtube channels father fish and fishtory you can learn a lot about aquatic tanks. ponds rivers and the natural cycle of what it out in the wild except you do this in your fish tank indoors..
