- The S65 gets dropped off for wrap and we try to call the court house in North Carolina for my pull over situation.. they didn't answer so I guess we just have to go there..

You've been caught speeding god knows how many times, and considering this is your livelihood maybe you should stop acting like a 15yo and consider your family. If your licence goes then I suspect so does 90% of your income. Any fool can speed. Take some responsibility and get it sorted. Pray to whatever god you think is up there and make sure your family is #1, without exception. You always think it's someone else's fault.

I did the math using your front dash cam footage. Speed (m/s) = Distance (meters) / time (seconds). 36.576 m/s = 146.304 m / 4 s. 36.576 m/s = ~82mph. So unfortunately the trooper probably did clock you close to 86mph.

Hey Mike! Even though your dash cam speed stamp was off you can still use it as proof. Speed can be in the video file itself not the footage or it can be calculated by time/distance or white lines/time etc.

Unless his speedometer was calibrated by approved vendor as recognized by that state , it won’t be acceptable.
North Carolina resident here, it has been a while since I had a ticket, but I did have one 15 over. Appeared in court, met DA at the front door, he asked me how I was going to plead. If I pled guilty, he would reduce speed to under 10 mph over and pay fine and court cost. That will be your quickest way out. If you plead not guilty, you will likely be placed at the back of the line to present your case after all the guilty pleas are out of the way. Another option is request a Prayer for Judgement, not sure if that is available to out of state drivers, but basically you promise to behave over the next 3 years with no tickets, result is no points and pay court cost. If you get a ticket within those 3 years, you get the points plus whatever the new ticket requires, so don't get pulled again in NC, Lol!

I'm from PA also and the way it works with points is that when you get an out of state ticket that results in points, they will report that to your home state. At that point, it is up to your home state to decide what to do with it. PA specifically will not add points from out of state tickets to your license unless it was something major, like a hit and run or something like that. I once got a speeding ticket in New York that was worth either 4 or 6 points. It was reported to PA but they never added those points to my license. So if it's points you're worried about, you're safe.
This and being one of the few states where only state police use radar and not lasers are 2 reasons I kinda forgive the yearly inspection/emissions cash grab.
I travel that portion of Rt.95 in NC every month. You could've avoided the tickets with a radar detector and laser jammers. Mandatory gear with this level of autobahn breeding. My defenses are an Escort Redline 360 stealth mounted inside the rearview mirror and ALP front and rear laser jammers. Being forewarned is being forearmed.
It's US 95, not route 95. A route is a local state road. 95 is an interstate and goes all throughout the East coast.

I’m from PA too and got pulled over in NC in Sept 2023 for going apparently 84 in a 60. Cop was cool and gave me a warning because I’m out of state and was just passing through. He said if he were to write me a ticket i would have a mandatory court date and he didn’t wanna make me have to come all the way back down there from PA
Of course it’s not your fault. Allegedly 86 in a 65. You dam well know you were speeding. You should win an Oscar for playing stupid every time you get pulled over.

Just call the DA's office and ask them what you should be prepared for. They may tell you what you want to hear over the phone. If not you should show up with an attorney. It is a misdemeanor so not like any other ticket.
Get the top attorney who handles tickets in that area and it will most likely get kicked down to some fix it ticket or something. Learned that when I was young, people forget judges are attorneys too and they are all friends. LOL
A ticket dismissal attorney is worth the money. Let's say you're found guilty. Even if the NC ticket doesn't trigger points on your PA license, the insurance companies will hold that ticket against you for 3 years. Most likely, attorney fees will be less in the long run when compared to the fine and increased insurance premiums.

Yeah, I would go to court. A cop was filming behind my vehicle. My un -awheres. Pulled me over for improper, unsafe lane, usage a mile later. Point is, judge dismissed the ticket even though on camera. Officer said I have him on camera footage. I thought I was screwed. Told judge was driving home from work and was very tired. True story. You never know what a judge will do. Case was dismissed. Might tell the judge your situation. Also officer may not show himself for his court appearance. That being, your speeding ticket may be dropped? Another reason to show.

in February 2022 my son was involved in accident ( run red light ,my car was totalled) long story short got letter from prosecutor/city hall that they are so so far behind because of Covid that they don't have time for traffic violations . Thats how crazy is in Canada

I fought a ticket once in a small town. Judge, prosecutor, and cop all talking and laughing before court started. Court starts. BAsically goes like this. Cop..."He was speeding". ME...."I wasn't speeding" . Judge....."Guilty!. Next Case!"

I got a few speeding tickets when I was younger.
Some good advice is to take a Safe Driving course at a local community college or maybe on the internet.

I live in NC. Your court date is traffic court. If you have a lawyer you can have them talk to the DA and get it reduced….you asking will not be possible….the room will be packed. You will not speak to the judge. If you want to contest this then you have to come back for the trial, then you can talk to the judge and the officer will appear. I don’t know if it applies to people from out of state but NC has what is called “ prayer for judgement “. If you haven’t had a violation in the past 3 years you can ask and all you have to pay is court costs and the ticket goes away. Your insurance company will see it though.

PA will not add points to your license for an out of state conviction. However, that NC ticket is a mandatory appearance ticket. So you either have to appear in person at the date and time on the top or hire and attorney to represent you. As far as the court house goes, all courts in NC have that recording. You actually have to wait for the option and pick one to get a live person. Most district attorneys offices won’t discuss tickets over the phone though.
NC has reciprocity with PA, you get a ticket here with points it goes on your license in PA. I'm a PA native living in NC, the only way you wouldn't get points if there is no law in the Commonwealth, like Virginia's radar detector law. He'll get points and if it is bad enough, lose his license.
I drove truck into steel mills like US Steel in Braddock definitely liked being through & out of Pittsburgh before daylight due to traffic. He likes the tunnels, imagine a C-15 Cat engine with straight pipes. It'll make noise in there😂

You can calculate how fast your going on your dashcam by reading the middle lines on the highway if they are showing on the fotage. I know its abit off a hassle but I'm pretty sure if you have someone that is good with math can do the calculation. Just a hint GÖTT MOS GUBBE :)

If you get a speeding ticket with a pa license in another state there are no points on your license, if you ignore the citation it could result in a different outcome. Be safe out there.

Someone else made this comment in your ticket video about how you can use the dashcam footage to calculate your speed based on the road markings. Edit: According Google... "Speed = Distance/Time. The federal guideline for the white dashed lines on roads is 10 feet, and the empty spaces in between are 30 feet. If you measure the time it takes to move from the beginning of one white dashed line to the next, that is the time it takes your car to move 40 feet, which is a measure of speed."

@@lPIRODIGY I never said measuring speed from a video is impossible. I said it is impossible to do so with sufficient precision to be admissible in court. So no, you can't measure the speed precisely enough from this video.
10mph over is typically 2 points.. so 86 in a 65 would potentially be 4 points. Look into the law geoupe "ticket dismissers" i believe thats what they are called. DDE uses them all the time.
If you get a ticket in any other state and that state decides to suspend your license due to failure to pay or miss your court date...well your license will be suspended in the state that your licensed in.
You could ask to see the footage in his radar too if he doesn't show up to court most state troopers don't show for court they don't show up the second time and gets thrown out of court

Go to court and just ask for a withhold! Ticket lawyers do the same thing.
Get an attorney in NC or use ticket fixers, etc. Don't try to handle this yourself. An atty may be able to get the ticket reduced. At least you weren't stopped in Va.....

I have a LOT of experience driving in NC over a duration of 39 years. Mike's speed was likely measured on a LIDAR gun. Your RD is useless (in most cases) against a LIDAR gun. NC state troopers are notorious for the past 15 or so years of using LIDAR. He may also have been measured with VASCAR. Look them up if you don't know what they are. Don't speed around bridges, on ramps and around blind curves or where there's cover for cops to hide. That will reduce the odds of receiving a citation by a huge margin. Also, measuring devices that utilize radar (typically Ka band) have instant on features that can lock your speed in within a second or two. If you are lucky, you'll have a lazy cop that keeps his gun on constantly and you can get a reading before you reach his direct line of sight. But these days, it isn't likely. Many officers use instant on.
If you are unable to work out a big reduction, ideally faulty equipment, get an attorney. I would not try to make a go of it on my own. Depending upon the judge, and the County's policies, you may not get much of a deal and get popped with points AND be hit by a BIG insurance premium increase. I lived in NC for 47 years, driving 39 of those years. I have a very HEAVY foot and know how things work in NC. They may offer a big reduction IF you attend traffic school, but if you have prior tickets, you'll want to speak with an attorney if your primary concern is that you'll get points. Also, it can be a misdemeanor in NC for travelling above 80 mph, even if you are in a 70mph zone. With you being out of state, I don't know the implications of this citation. Best to work with an attorney.
Get a local traffic attorney and let him or her deal with it and don't worry about it any more. Your time is worth more than the attorney will cost and dealing with some low level judge trying to feather his nest.

If they move it to 70mph and pay a $180 fine there at rent any points. I’m retired LE in NY, and never wrote a speed for a performance car such as yours.
