And then as a last ditch effort, if you couldn’t get that jackstand in, you could’ve always thrown the jackstand sideways underneath there as a temporary measure to kind of hold it up a little bit. Bullets Garage did the same thing to his GS-F some years back. The entire planet saw that video, but no one ever made fun of him for trying to work on his own car. You'll do just fine.
Jacking point was the issue here rather than the driveway. Always check you’re using a suitable jacking point, and it’s secure before removing the wheel.
Mike has to be trolling us hoping to make a video that goes viral and he makes bank from the ads. Ain't no way a car guy would actually jack a car like this.
Yes, but Mike is a car salesman. When have you ever known a car salesman to have any clue when it comes to doing even the most basic of mechanical repairs?
You can put some car wax over that spot that is scratched. That will keep it from rusting until you can get it fixed. A good body shop will not respray the entire door - just an area around the damage and blend it into the rest of the door above. You won't notice it. Are you using the designated lifting point on the chassis for your jack? That is in your owners manual.
Harbor Freight Jacks aren't the greatest. The rotor is most likely fine since they're manufactured like tanks. The dust shield behind the rotor needs replacing. Easy fix. The entire door doesn't need repainting. It can be blended / feathered / faded in from the bottom half up slightly to the middle of the door. Shouldn't be noticeable if the painter knows what he's doing.
For someone with a automotive youtube channel you'd think they would know how to do the most basic thing. Atleast understand to 1) jack a car up by putting the car brake up first 2) placing a brick and 3) don't do it on a slanted driveway. It seems you didn’t even place it under the jacking point correctly and evidently your skirt was flexing 🤦♂️
Damn that sucks. At least your good. There are arrows on the frame that show you where the Jack should go. Hope this helps in the future. Good luck brotha 👍🏼💪🏽
I've owned a tire shop for several years and this video hurt my eyes. Regarding tire prices.. about 20-ish years ago I had a customer who wanted to be the very first guy with 26 inch wheels (on the new H2). I charged him $30k for tires and Lexani wheels. I think it was only about $2k profit at the time but I also wanted to say I sold the first set. He made his money....uh.. selling herbs.
I am sorry to say but I am not sure he comprehend the full lesson of this. No infomration in the video about drawing the consequences and WHAT TO DO DIFFERENTLY next time. What I would add to the end: A) Always prepare yourself for a job even if it is a tire change. (Especially on a 100k car). Check youtube. You will learn what tools do you need and what is the process. Watch at least three videos and you will be surprised how many angles a job have presented by different youtubers. A) parking brake engaged. Bricks applied on back wheels on BOTH direction. Put the air suspension in maintnance - tyre change mode. Loose the wheel nuts. B) Every german car has a lifting points. It is incredible how he was not able to find them. Use these points for jacking or you will damage your car. Period. Use the proper adapter fitted to the jackpoint hole. Again, preparation. After lifting use other tools like wood blocks next to to provide further support. Seems to be overkill until it is not. C) Invest to a torque wrench. Check the manufacturer's data for torque specification for lugnuts. That cross wrench he used was definitely not enough. (140 Nm? No way, even if he stands and jumping on one arm.) It is a sad story in every aspect. My language s..ks.
I unfortunately lost an old friend because a car he was working on slipped off the jack. So I'm just happy it was only material damage and glad that you weren't under the car as it fell.
Mike being watching you for a long while and I really enjoy your content. With all due respect, you as a car guy have some flaws like this particular one. You never jack up your car without securing it especially on downhill. Use wheel chocks in front of each wheel opposite from the end of the car you will be lifting. If you do not have chocks you can substitute with wooden wedges/bricks/rocks. And the jacking point you choose it hurts my heart man. Usually there’s one on each side behind the front wheels and in front of the back wheels, close to the rocker panels. Or lower control arm, front and rear axes have jacking point as well. Safety first Mike. Keep making great content for us. Happy holidays all the best.
I think the door skins on the RS7 are aluminum so the spot shouldn’t rust. A high end body shop should be able to blend the door to get it to match pretty much perfectly.
Hey bro, we all make big mistakes sometimes with our cars, businesses, family, everything. What matters most is that you didn’t get hurt and that worldly possessions can almost always be repaired or replaced. God bless brother, everything is going to work out just fine
Your HUMAN....love it. We've all had f'ups....but the biggest issue you have is you need a new house with a larger garage. Keep up the entertaining videos. I love em.
Might want to file an insurance claim. Easily 5k repairs at a reputed body shop. Aluminum rear door will need to be replaced along with new rocker spoiler and repairs to the rocker panel. Aluminum is not easily repairable vs steel. Blending into adjacent panels. Daytona Gray if not one of difficult color to match. So I suggest finding the door in same color then repaint entire side. Paint shade variance differ each run at factory. No guarantee of a perfect match. Anyways great to see you being candid with one big mess!
,Mike, you being a car guy should have known to use wheels chocks on the rear tire and one of the front tires prior to jacking and you never even got down on one knee to place the jack at the designated "JACK POINT" which was already denting the lower body flares??? Why one would be so damn careless is beyond me brother and totally you're own damn fault unfortunately!!!
That sucks. After you get the new side panel and the door dent fixed, just get the whole car wrapped, since paint matching the door is going to be a headache.
So glad your hand wasn't under it at the moment of failure. We all live and learn. I have managed a few of these type mistakes in my time. Be so, so thankful that your hand wasn't under there - you could have lost it for good. Those small bones don't go back together well - especially if they are pulverized. I say you had a good day. Lesson learned, no permanent damage. :)
Glad you are safe. Yes, should have blocked all the rest of the wheels and by the looks you were jacking the car up from the rocker panel and NOT a more stronger part of the structure. The manual will tell you the jacking points on the underside of the vehicle. Always follow that. I've had my jack begin to roll before too. It's very scary. I tend to put my foot right up against it when it's being jacked up as when the jack starts to take the weight it might roll a few millimeters. I wish they made jacks that you could lock the wheels from rolling and spinning direction.
I know somebody that was under the car working and the jack rolled in killed the person. Never jacked the car up in a slanted road or driveway. Always use wheel chocks. Or something behind the tires so the car won't roll. . I'm glad nobody got hurt ,😊just the car a little.
Sorry to see this, mistakes happen, definitely a learning moment. Please make sure the new tire is not 3/32 difference with the other tires on AWD car, you'll cook the transfer case or transmission depending on how it is setup and Im guessing that is expensive on a RS7. Good Luck and Happy Holidays
My neighbor was changung his tire and he had one of those bottle jacks that he was using and his car slipped off the jack and the jack went right through his floor pan. Then he freaked out and tried driving the car...with no tire...to get the car off the jack. He was from Vietnam and his knowledge of driving, plus his knowledge of cars in general added up to be about a 3, but he was always doing dumb stuff to his car. His brakes were squeeking so he put WD-40 on the rotors. He shoved wads of foam from an air conditioning filter into his air intake filter. He put soap mixed with rubbing alcohol in his windshield wiper fluid. Another time he didn't like Bush for President flag on my car, so he got the 'Quayle' flag and stuck it in his antenna. But the flag was too big and tore his antenna off. He tried tinting his own windows and messed that up. The guy was just an idiot and his poor Subaru. I hate Subarus, but I felt bad for that car
I'm sure you'll never read this however, if you do I would consider getting some longer wheel bolts when using those spacers if you haven't already. Seems like you had a hard time getting threads to grip this is probably cause they are to short. Also if the brakes don't shimmy your rotor is most likely ok. As an Audi owner there are normally two locations on each side of frame for jacking. It didn't look as though you had the jack pad in the correct spot, wasn't far enough under the frame you were on the edge (not a good idea). Although the falling off the jack was obviously due to the hill and the car rolling. At least you keep it real for us.
He didnt have a hard time, he had the wheels lined up wrong. There are holes to mount to the rotors and then holes to mount the wheels to, they arent through hole spacers by the amount of holes in them.
Mike, even though your Audi has AWD, the tires are ultra high performance summer tires. They’re not designed to drive in snow or icy/freezing/wintry conditions. The rubber compound hardens up under those extremes, and you will have shitty traction and grip. Drive careful man.
The reason the jack started moving was because of the incline. You should’ve been on a flat surface doing this or put something behind the wheels and jack to stop it from shifting. I almost was in a similar situation but i used a brick to block the wheel from moving.

Hahahahahahaha…. When guys who buy expensive cars know nothing about working on them.
Waaaaait buying cars doesn’t make you a “car guy”? Lmfao. Yeah agreed man.
Was more worried about a fucking 200$ GoPro position than the $80k car
Mike has to be trolling us hoping to make a video that goes viral and he makes bank from the ads. Ain't no way a car guy would actually jack a car like this.
Yes, but Mike is a car salesman. When have you ever known a car salesman to have any clue when it comes to doing even the most basic of mechanical repairs?
Dang, when the car dropped to the ground i cringed 😅😅😅
Good body shop can fix that door and put on a news skirt and blend it.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Metal and plastic can be replaced. You’re okay that’s the main thing. A good learning point for us all.
Damn that sucks. At least your good. There are arrows on the frame that show you where the Jack should go. Hope this helps in the future. Good luck brotha 👍🏼💪🏽
At the 1 minute mark you can see his shadow as he shakes the jack.
You could of just jacked up the front jack point and the rear would go up also
Parking brake and chocks every time you jack up the car, stay safe Mike. But at least this was a "live and learn" moment and not anything worse
World’s most expensive tire change.
Jesus that hurt to watch 😂 btw, whatever happened to Brian? Havent seen him on here for a really long time :O
Mike, at the end of the day, you weren't hurt and you learned something. Continue on with keeping the good with the bad. We appreciate you!
I am not sure , if the video is a fake. If I did that much damage I would have been piss
I love em.
That’s a rough blow, good on you for posting the real content and not just what’s easy.
Ouch. Chock blocks are $11 bucks 😂
,Mike, you being a car guy should have known to use wheels chocks on the rear tire and one of the front tires prior to jacking and you never even got down on one knee to place the jack at the designated "JACK POINT" which was already denting the lower body flares??? Why one would be so damn careless is beyond me brother and totally you're own damn fault unfortunately!!!
he made a mistake man chill out
That sucks. After you get the new side panel and the door dent fixed, just get the whole car wrapped, since paint matching the door is going to be a headache.
Life will go on.
Best of luck with fixing it. And don’t forget to laugh, learning experience. We all mess up, have had my moments like this.
2 words: Parking Brake
So glad your hand wasn't under it at the moment of failure. We all live and learn. I have managed a few of these type mistakes in my time. Be so, so thankful that your hand wasn't under there - you could have lost it for good. Those small bones don't go back together well - especially if they are pulverized. I say you had a good day. Lesson learned, no permanent damage. :)
I’m calling bullshit on this, all for like and views and trying to make new content
Dude why didn't you block the front wheels
Mistake happen. I would be sick though!
Everyone remember what ChrisFix says make sure you chalk off your wheels and put your spare tire underneath to avoid this shit.
Not a real car guy move.
For the future, put chocks under any wheels that are not lifting off of the ground. I learned the hard way too lol
Come on dude, you just destroyed a beautiful car.
You didn’t even drop one F bomb when it happened. I would’ve been dropping the most unholy words imaginable that the sky would’ve turned red😂
Lesson learned, ebrake and Wheel chock on front tires in the future. Thanks for sharing
Day in the life of AutoVlog at its finest
