I love everything about the idea! I'm just so confused about why they would actively discourage backing in when parking - it's a lot safer for pedestrians when you are backed in!
Americans can't drive. Basically no Yanks reverse park and they fail at parking between the lines despite the fact their car spaces are huge. They don't use the handbrake either, when I was in the states it was terrifying how the valets would just put the car in park, apparently the handbrake only exists as a decoration.

@@Pyroteqthe only real reason you'd ever have to use the handbrake on an auto is if you're in an inclined parking. I just don't see a point in a parked area where its flat and not slanted. Obviously if its manual that is your only way to keep it from rolling. I doubt most modern parking brakes fail in this day and age.

Im a delivery guy. Its much safer backing in because you can see everything as you approach your parking space. Then when you leave you see everything in front of you. When you park face forward, when you leave its much eaiser to hit something or someone because all you have is your side view mirrors. I live on a busy street and we always back in so when we leave we can exit the driveway much safer.

I used to work in the oil & gas industry and some facilities would require you to back in for these exact reasons.
One place said they implemented the policy after they had three accidents where people backed out of a parking spot at the end of the work day and hit something.
Historically speaking, it was required that carriages be parked so that the could be driven out forward. A blind space or 'dead end' meant backing in.

In CA, I’ve seen signs in one way aisles with diagonal parking ports. Actually got ticketed, that’s how I know 😂. Came in from the other aisle for convenience, but if you end up getting blocked from the rear, you’re heading out in the wrong direction. Kinda makes sense 🥲.
Here are some ideas I’ve thought up:)
Order “the usual” at restaurants where you’ve never been
Order vegetarian items at a restaurant with no bones
Ask people to use YOUR phone real quick
Pretend Elliot is famous and have guards make sure people stay away from him

Be in front of people in line with full shopping carts while you have one item- then ask them if they want to go in front

Put up garage sale signs with other people’s address on them and watch people show up to their house
Ringing doorbells and holding the door shut
Try to buy clothes at a laundromat

Good show - The French forest service built one back in the 50s from a couple of Citroën 2CVs. Popular Mechanics ran a story on it. Some of the forest roads in the mountains had no space to turn around in so that was their answer.

There is no nationwide law against backing in to park in the U.S., and no U.S. state bans backing in to park. Backing in to park is only banned only in some municipalities or locations, and even when a municipality bans it the ban often applies only in certain areas or types of parking spaces.

And it is better just leaving the parking lot after the work is done, no weird maneuvering shenanigans.
Its because there are no parking curbs. Backing in has a longer overhang and can result in hitting poles, trees, fences, and overhang onto the sidewalk or road.

I've seen it in parking garages where I live. My state only requires rear license plates so they want to be able to scan the plates while driving through the garage. I've never seen it in a normal parking lot like in the video though.

For real. We have "back in only" here, mostly in lots with alot of trucks and vans (no rear view or side windows) . Safest way to pull out of a spot. They're literally prioritizing giving tickets and tows over customer safety. And they're lazy about it too. This is Florida we're talking about here though 🤣🤣
