I love so much about this! They didn’t explicitly lie to the counselors and they even got their express consent to record them before starting. The counselors acted very appropriately, professionally, and empathetically. And they even got a good wholesome laugh out of it. No one was hurt and it gave an interesting window to the world of counseling and how difficult it can be. I especially liked how the lady counselor was upfront when she said she couldn’t see them anymore. She did her best to help both parties but then realized she is not in a good position to counsel them. It’s very mature

Yeah I understand confidentiality laws exist. But I think those laws need to create an exception for cheaters. I doubt this happens too often with therapists, but I bet it happens a lot with nurses and hospitals people. And that I would argue has absolute no bearing on breaking Hippa law, saying someone is cheating isnt a medical related thing at all. Its stupid that government acts like it is, or hospitals? But I think those laws need to create an exception for cheaters.

The most ethically sound counselor there was definitely the woman. She did not break the confidentiality she swore too, but she also declined being their counselor with the chance of a conflict of interest and also she heavily implied to the “wife” that there was concern in the situation.
Literally would breach their confidentiality. So the woman was in the wrong.
