The way I see it: the closer to reality they get the more Jax reveals his real self. Jax out of all the characters is objectively the one who is making the most out of the escapism fantasy provided by the Digital Circus. The deeper he is in the fantasy world the more energetic and chaotic he becomes, however in a realistic environment of a fast food establishment he is forced to revert back into a less energetic and miserable version of himself who is just trying to get through the day.
Do you think jax parallels Alice in wonderland symbolism? He uses the circus as his wonderland, that's completely disconnect from reality as an escape? May be wrong...
@mistahmatrix I agree this is an interesting double if not triple meaning. If the circus is meant to act as a punishment then Jax for his abusive tendencies is deserving. If the circus is meant to act as a therapy or escapism to work through your issues then again Jax is deserving but for a positive outcome. And lastly in a blend between the first two - in respect to what other characters need for therapy Jax may be very deserving as his abusive tendencies bring focus and balance to the challenges other characters can grow from. For Gangle that may be being more confident and standing up to the abuse and for say Pomni it is being resilient to the abuse and realizing there's still a person inside who can be relatable and bring the good out of Jax. I sort of wonder if abstraction is only a result of a negative emotional state, and if it could also be triggered by shall we just say "solving your unfinished business."
Jax never seems to engage in "low blow insults." I'm sure he could make fun of Zooble's insecurities or make fun of the characters grief with Kaufmo but he doesn't. He's trying to distract himself by petty jokes. I may be wrong but idk
Ragatha's mask is unconditional kindness Jax's mask is his mean and rude comments Just like Gangle, both masks get gradually taken off as they continue to work at Spudsy's
You are the first person to actually get the point of the episode. lol. Good job. That's why it's called the Masquerade, everyone's mask is slipping. Not just Gangles. 👍
I really dont think jax is gonna be this crazy monster villain. I do think he has lost touch with reality in that nothing matters so he doesnt percieve pain or violence or trauma as anything to worry about because everything is meaningless, eating is fake, theres no escape, pain isnt permanent or really consequential, feeding into why he wont connect with the others. Hes playing everyday like groundhog day.
And i think its exactly why we saw his "mask" crack this episode where he behaved like a normal person irl would. This "adventure" felt genuinely real to him😅
I love how we always misinterpret Jax each episode. We all were like he’s a jerk, no he’s not, and then all of a sudden going back and forth to see whether or not he’s an NPC or a human character. Either way it’s best to wait until his center of attention episode arrives, so that way we can understand him a bit more rather than going in a loop of who he is in every episode…
I personally believe he’s a human like the rest. And with humans we all have a weak spot, and something to cover it up. For Jax, it’s obviously him trying to be the tough one outta the rest. Being the parallel of every bully in the world. They have had something happen in their life that they couldn’t control, so they try to gain control and ignore their problems by forcing it upon others.
Jax is a jerk, the biggest misinterperation so far about him is that he was considered evil because of episode 2. But yeah, hes definitely an "a-hole" but not an evil one.
Something nobody is talking about that I feel like people should is Jax saying, "Nobody can see this, right?" When he is about to basically get psychologically tortured. This clearly shows us his priorities, that one of the last things he wants is people seeing him in such a vulnerable position. He craves control over everyone and everything at all times, and hates it when he's not, and would find it humiliating for someone to see that. It seems to me that his behavior is not just for entertainment like he tries to make everyone believe it is, but to be in control of every situation he's in, by any means necessary. Gangle is an easy target because she is the easiest to control, and we see in this episode when he realizes there's no way of gaining control over this situation, his mask slips, because there's no point to the facade when it's not giving him any sort of control anymore.
To add onto your idea, Jax literally say “Aren’t you supposed to be submissive and agreeable?” in episode 2, along with the other things he says to her
Good theory and I don't think this necessarily means it's false, but I do think he was saying that to gangle seemingly replying to him- I do think it can be both though
let's add that he is a literal bunny! A prey, Gosseworx has said that each character design is a reflexion of their insecurities and personalities so It would make sense that Jax hates being seen as a prey while looking like prey
One thing I noticed during the episode that may come back later is Caine’s realization that he can add negative reinforcement to his adventures as motivation to complete them. When Gangle first asked him to add a punishment for the employees who underperform the most he acted as if he hadn’t thought of that before. So I wonder if going forward Caine might add punishments to his future adventures if the crew doesn’t complete them correctly. It could probably drive Jax insane as he won’t be able to do what he wants as there will be consequences for his actions now which may lead him to get more deflated like he was in this episode
@@Sin-Nombre04 That's because he actually did his job he cleaned the bathroom, filled the ice cream machine. The only thing that got him down was his disrespectful behavior at the start.
@@rickbill06 the whole joke about giving motivation is that even if they did a bad job, Caine would at most just give him a F, the punishment and reward was just simply that score they got at the end, so Caine wasn't really going to do anything to them even if they did nothing
You can tell Jax’s likes pomni and zooble a little bit more than others he’s more cordial with them and not nearly as hard on them they’re the only ones you see him have actual conversations with Edit: and I’ve noticed at the end of every episode. Jax’s always tries to talk to pomni he did it in episode 2 and 3 but he usually gets brushed off and walks way mad
probably because they're the most sincere ones, unlike Ragatha who tries HARD to be nice to everyone, Gangle who hides behind a mask and Kinger who... well is Kinger.
It seems like he may have some level of respect for Zooble and Pomni specifically because they are the only ones who will stand up to him and Caine. Kinger is insane, Ragatha is too nice, and Gangle is too scared to say anything. Zooble and Pomni, however, talk back to Caine and Jax consistently. He doesn't see them as targets because they aren't allowing themselves to be victimized, and to him, that makes them more respectable. Which definitely recontextualizes his bullying; he bullies those he can get away with bullying, those who are vulnerable. It's not a sense of inferiority or wanting to feel strong. He just does it because he can. This is also probably why he was so upset during episode 4. Kinger wasn't there, Gangle wasn't scared and sad the whole time due to the mask, and Ragatha was honest enough due to the stupid sauce, so his targets were all moot. He had no one he could get away with bullying. We see him get the same way in episode 2 where he was denied the ability of violence. He was mad that he wasn't in control.
I will say, something I havent seen ANYONE talking about is that Caine listened! He used the suggestion box and was receptive to feedback and hell, he was even there when Gangle called for him. Caine is… improving? Its small, but maybe his talk with Zooble actually helped a bit.
I think there being a new member (Pomni) everybody is going through a change of dynamics in the circus. It's possible they feel like it's "worth it" to make suggestions and be more assertive in general (like Gangle and her masks, and Jax being "nicer", everybody is changing).
Another interesting fact is that when anyone abstracts, Cain doesnt kill them, instead he puts them in a dark place where they can’t escape. Which may calm ever one of them down. Proving Jax was right, Cain won’t do anything malicious.
I know it's a tad out there, but i truly believe that part of the reason of Jax is such a bully is to add a bit of his own normalcy to the chaos of the Circus. Hear me out, from what we have seen Jax has never criticized or emotionally target any of the crew. While at times he seems to cross the line, he never really goes that extra step to making things personal. I believe part of him wants to distract the other players from they're own thought, and even himself as well, Using the npc's when he wants to go over the edge because he views them as not people.
Ever since Ep 2, I've had this theory that Jax has seen passed the premise of the adventures, and treats it like a GTA-adjacent sandbox where the consequences don't matter, so he's going to bring the house down
They really don’t. As of now abstraction isnt the end of the characters, but a transformation they can’t undo at that moment. He knows this. He’s seen it happen tons of times before I’m sure of it.
someone pointed out how he understands caine's behavior saying how caine doesnt have it in him to actually punish them, and it made me think about troubled kids who push the boundaries of the authorities out of fear of having a false sense of security. kids who have the need to know what the rules are at all times in order to not get burned
I think Jax’s behavior stems from him fighting his boredom, an thus abstraction by terrorizing the others. After all everyone has a different way of dealing with it. I look forward to a Jax centered episode.
It would be a cool conflict if the main goal of most of the characters is to get OUT of the circus. But one character desperately wants to stay. Perhaps Jax might be this. Like how video games can be a way for people to dissociate from the real world. Maybe he was treated horribly as a kid and does not want to go back. Every adventure he seems to be enjoying himself when there is some crazy element, but as soon as he gets put in a "normal" situation like in a restaurant, he starts breaking down. This conflict would be especially interesting for him because he's "The master of keys" which I feel like is 100% coming up later in the series. The secret of how to escape the circus probably lies in either him or Kinger. A pretty outlandish theory, but one to think about.
I like to think he was more of a debugger as opposed to an active coder. The reason he has all those keys is because theyre dev tools to get around the maps easier and test things that go wrong, but of course jax instead abuses it for his own indulgent want to cause chaos
I understand honestly. If I was in the circus and they found the exit, I would be hesitant to leave. The real world is harsh, real people are harsh. It's difficult to want to go back to a place where so many things suck and, for some people, the bad things outweigh the good by far. At least in the circus you don't have to have responsabilities. It's okay if you can't do anything with your life for one reason or another. In the circus, society can't make you feel bad for it. Real life problems don't matter in the circus.
Jax honors pronouns, which is more than what some people I know irl are willing to do. He literally lives in a videogame, and none of this is real. He's having the time of his menace life. He may not realize he's hurting people's feelings bc he is someone who often runs from his. I'm really interested in seeing what makes him tick.
Everyone thinks if “deserves” then he did something bad and this is his punishment But no one thinks that the game is actually a reward for Jax where he is free to do everything because life wasn’t fair to him Edit 1: Plus, it will explain why he likes when people are suffering, because it’s a simple protective reaction from him. Maybe he was bullied so became a bully himself
Maybe he deserves to be here, so he can adjust to people, like actually show his emotions to them, instead of hiding them, and he pushed ppl he loved away irl. Smth like episode 2 during kaufmos funeral
I feel like Jax just treats the adventures truly like video games that don't mean anything. Yes he killed everyone in the candy world, but they all ceased to exist as soon as they all stepped through the portal.
Here's a fact: My mom always told me that if you see a mean person or someone who has temperamental or anger issues, something may be going on or happened in their life that had scarred them emotionally, causing them to lash out or be very cold and aloof. Jax is LITERALLY the definition of this. As my mom said, "people like that just need a little love". I honestly think Jax has just had a really hard time and is too stubborn to be open about his feelings, so he just acts like nothings wrong. And now that he's made this reputation for himself, he probably thinks that everyone will turn on him as soon as he shows vulnerability. This could also be connected to the fact that he is a man (biologically at least) and men have more responsibilities to being the protector and more tough. But that's just my thoughts.
I think Jax's upbringing was strict as many times we see him happy only when he is in control or doing something chaotic and in ep 4 for the first time we see him break down in his car which makes me feel that Jax probably grew up being controlled by his parents/guardians and was always forced to do things he didnt want even tough he didnt want to. for Jax he was straight up controlled which explains his current actions always bullying other, always doing something chaotic and off the rails. etc
I feel like Jax would probably be the first to abstract due to him lashing out at the circus like a gamer would. It's part of why I like him because he's what video gamer would be like if left in a world with *almost* no consequences.
Maybe, but you also have to take into account that they would've had many adventures together. It's possible that centipedes came up in one of them. But it is an interesting theory. I can't wait to see more about the character dynamics!
I would love a "Fallen Angel" type character arc for Jax, like he was a good person who was blamed for everything so he accepted it himself but deep down, just wants people to believe him and trust him.
I have a theory that he'll do something terrible later in the show and nobody believes that it was an accident (him breaking Gangle's mask in ep 4 could be foreshadowing???). Especially with the "I want you dead" line he will say, according to Gooseworx. I have a feeling something very unfortunate will happen. Though maybe I'm delusional.
I feel like Jax will accidentally break Caine, then realize he went to far. He feels like he goes as far as he can because they will think about hating him rather than losing themselves in their own issues. He just has been doing it so long, and allowed to go so far because there hasn't been a direct break because of him. He might be an ass because he is just trying to be the bad guy to distract from their issues. And he likes messing with people. He is still being a dick. Just motivated by a good reason, just bad at doing it in a healthy way because of his own issues, just like everyone else in the circus.
Jax did notably make a “zooble is gay” joke (and zooble turns straight!) so there’s definitely some in universe context that it’d be a funny tease. Plus, Jax constantly seeks Pomni’s approval, or disapproval. He always talks to pomni, he always makes snide comments to share with pomni (I remember that he tried to “bond” with pomni over kinger being crazy ). He antagonizes her, but still wants her approval. I think Pomni would be the person Jax opens up to, even though he’s known the others longer, Pomni has a fresh perspective on him. I hope Pomni chews him out a bit, or at least argues with him. Seeing her genuinely, rightfully angry at someone would be interesting.
@@wolfetteplays8894I feel like the “turns straight” joke was definitely an implied gay joke. Technically true in regards to the limbs getting straight but many people’s first thoughts would likely go to sexuality. Plus Zooble being annoyed in a way they likely wouldn’t have if Jax was just stating a fact
I definitely do resonate with Jax on some level, as a person who grew up in a household where teasing someone you love is normal (this isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but I can tell that I’ve done something wrong, which I don’t like bc I just want to be nice to people), and also how he seems to deal with grief (seems to be very similar to mine, being just “ignore it and pretend it never happened, and you don’t feel it for too long.” (Yes, I know it’s a horrible coping strategy, but I SUCK at those, so like, yeah))
I think i agree that Jax isn't as bad as he seems to be. He may have grown up being abused and blamed for things he didn't do. To deal with a trauma, he probably would bully or pull pranks on others. You can see his expression when they talk about Kaufmo and his funeral. I think he wants to be noticed and accepted without having to be mean, but he doesn't know how.
Jax dropping the jerk attitude to ask Pomni how she was doing was such a nice moment.😊 Hopefully there will be more moments like that in the future, even if it is fun to watch him be a jerk.😅 I’d be really funny if the “Unforgivable thing” that Jax is supposed to do is just something silly like violating an unwritten rule or norm rather than making someone abstract.😅
Jax is just a troubled guy who has walls built up to keep himself "safe" it's a very common thing that a lot of people do. I understand how he feels and views things. I honestly really love Jax, he's so complex and honest and in a world like the digital circus it's just a bit more "simple"
I sort of see some sort of a depressed-masking class clown in jax, who continuously bothers others without ever doing any long-term psychologycal damage to anyone, so as to distract himself from the situation and somewhat elevate his own position, to make others not see him as someone who ever is vulnerable.
I feel like Jax doesn’t even like himself and is clearly having symptoms of potential abstraction given how unpleasant they are acting. Gangle was suffering from debilitating depression and despair. She felt genuinely unwanted and was on the verge of a full breakdown had Pomni and Zooble not intervened to save her on time. Kaufmo absolutely suffered from isolation and was implied to be unpleasant prior to abstraction. Jax is also on the verge of this happening to him. The greatest irony is even if he wants everyone else to suffer, he will become his own ultimate victim due to his own cruel actions. I think the idea of one of them escaping could be possible but they need a human host to do so as foreshadowed in episode 3. I have no true idea what will happen given subverting the ending of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream is entirely possible. But given the obvious foreshadowing, Jax likely won’t survive the circus given his previous horrible actions.
6:07, just like in I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, the main character kills everyone else with an icicle. Thus causing AM to be furious with him and turning him into a blob.
I don't think the episode really showed a soft side... It seemed a lot more that he was getting more worn out throughout the episode due to time spent and punishments for his behaviour.
IS JAX GOOD WELL THAT'S SIMPLE THANKS TO MY 530,000 IQ JAX IS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER PERSON BUT SINCE HE KNOWS HE'S IN A VIDEO GAME WHO DOES NOT GIVE TWO S*** ABOUT ANYONE BUT WE ALL HAVE A GOOD SIDE AND WE ALL HAVE A DARK SIDE RIGHT I BELIEVE JAX WAS A REGULAR ORDINARY DUDE BUT SINCE HE IS SO ORDINARY HIS BRAIN WENT TO MY NOMININGUE PAIN THAT'S WHY HE IS UNIQUE NOW THAT'S WHY HE'S EVIL BUT HE IS ALSO GOOD
I'm sorry but something hits me, according to Jax-Gangle as in an employee-manager relation. Doesn't it reminds anyone of the Stanford's Experiment? You know, the one where people were acting as the prisoners and the guards? I think Jax and Gangle are a good example, considering the dynamics in episode 4 🤔
I think you might be onto something considering that the number on Jax' license plate - 1138 might be a reference to a movie called THX 1138 and plot of this movie coincidentally reminds me of some things from this episode and digital circus and what we know about Jax and his episode
@@av3_ren I mean it's possible, but in the experiment I've mentioned, a group of volounteers was assigned randomly to a role of guard or a prisoner. They all have been checked and tested if they didn't have mental issues, so they were clear. The outcome was wild because of the behavior - people REALLY felt the power and experiment ended after five days, not three weeks as it was supposed to. Which proves that people set in the role of power starts behaving not like themselves
I've always thought Jax is complicated, and him being mean is a facade. He has too big of an ego to admit that he wants to be friends with the group, but I'm sure he'll be more vulnerable on some level before the end of the show.
@@late_gamer13 Yeah, Goosworx said that Jax has nothing heroic about him, maybe he's an antagonist for now and ends up being a villain for x or y reason.
I don't think this is jax being friendly, more jax being brought out of his own delusions. He likes to remind everyone constantly this world isnt real and I think he's trying to convince himself this is just a video game that hes playing. So trying to make funny things happen, avoiding anything that hints at real world conflict (like Kaufmos funeral), feeling the desire to eat despite not needing to, and even avoiding holding his breath despite the fact it won't kill him. That last one especially since pomni says it *feels* like shes going to die when she does it, probably a feeling jax would rather avoid. So when hes brought into this "normal" adventure that actually presents real consequences it breaks him down. He's like a video game troll who started to get their ass whooped in game or even outside of the game. He's just too tired to keep up the delusions for himself and just starts acting functional as a result.
You so annoying when hello kitty sees you she says goodbye, you so annoying you make onions cry,you so annoying you make you're dad say hi, ohh sorry i forgot that you dad left to go get the milk. И ја бар знам српски јер нисам бескористан
Especially with Kinger's statement of "the worst thing you can do in this world is make someone feel that they're unloved or unwanted" in ep. 3, I'm starting to have the theory that Jax might be the next to abstract. He seems like he's losing touch with his humanity more and more over the years, and a combination of how he treats others and how he is consequently seen by the others is going to devolve into a big 'ol problem.
After watching episode 4 I remembered infinity train. In that show they had an irredeemable villain for a season, except that villain wasn’t shown as irredeemable until he killed someone & the very end of the season, and he only became the way he did out of trauma and poor decision making. My point is that max is giving off the same vibes, a person who’s irredeemable not because of who he is, but the path they are going down at the moment.
I remember that show! And yep, I'm concerned about Jax's point of no return. It needs to be executed decently otherwise it won't work as well as Infinty train.
He just lost touch with his human side, that doesnt mean hes as awful as can be, he doesnt make fun of Zooble for their insecurities and body dismorphia, doesnt pick on Gangle with her emotional problems, and just breaks her mask for entertainment, he just kinda forgets that hes human and interacting with humans. He also doesnt make fun of the loss of Kauffmo, hes not a demon with no respect for anyone, hes just kind of evil
Another thing to point out is in episode 4 when jax says the suggestion where he can’t talk was genuinely hurtful you can see him frown and look actually upset for a minute before gangle talks, as he seemed to actually take it to heart my theory is that he’s just trying to be friendly or be likeable but instead he became a jerk (that used to happen to me and it was mental torture so that’s why it’s my leading theory) I want to give him hugs :(
Jax has always been my favorite character in The Amazing Digital Circus despite him being a jerk to the others. Also after Episode 4, I love that Jax is sort of nice to Pomni when he actually had a normal conversation with her, he even said in the beginning of the episode that he didn't mean to knock Gangle's mask while the gang were playing baseball.😁😮🐰💜
I think jax actually sees pomni as a friend because shes the only one who doesn't resent him, or he feels comfortable talking to her and genuinely cares about her or maybe because she's so nice, he feels maybe she'll understand and help him, but I personally think he wont go on a k!1ling spree
Jax is going to have a 'Little boy who cried wolf' kind of storyline, he's gonna (mostly) be rude, antagonistic, selfish and generally apathetic and then when he inevitably hits rock bottom no one is going to trust him enough to extend him the kindness he denied them.
Ya know, back in the first two episodes, I would’ve immediately thought of him as *evil incarnate* incarnate, in TADC, but now I think I’m leaning more towards a “chaotic neutral-ish” character vibe to him. 😅
i like to see jax as a guy who is a jerk to everyone is because he hates the feeling of not having control over anything,so entering a world where he has no control of anything on his "life" probably made him a little crazy,so his way to make sure he is not going to abstract is to mess with everyone so he can be on his delusion of having control over his life.
about kaufmo's funeral, what if jax simply wasn't there out of remorse? He probably helped kaufmo abstract this because he makes fun of insecurities and problems of the people there.
It would be the ultimate irony for Jax to try (Keyword: Try) to make everyone else abstract and go insane, but he ends up abstracting instead of anyone else. What if he’s the closest one to abstracting because of all the recent abuse HE’S been put through? From the Gloink hitting him in Episode 1, to getting tied up in Episode 3’s Haunted House Adventure, to him being forced to watch Gangle’s brainwashing tape in Episode 4, who knows what’s going to happen in Episode 6 (Jax’s Episode). Obviously Jax deserves all the karma he gets, but what if this karma is the straw that breaks the camel’s back in terms of Jax’s Breaking Point? We don’t know what the other previous abstracted Circus members were like, but we know what Jax is like and we know that Abstraction is the worst possible thing that could happen to him.
he deserves to be there because he made the place. His latest attempt to keep his subjects alive was to be a jerk, eliciting responses, being a foil for them to bounce off. They're all paralyzed or otherwise broken people Jax is trying to keep alive in his machine.
I saw the thumbnail and my dumb self thought he was saying his pronouns were “they/them” and I was so confused 😭 The fact that he doesn’t misgender Zooble reminds me of the meme with the bully respecting other students’ pronouns while bullying them
I actually think Jax is the one who is going to abstract next, Seeing as how Gooseworx said that the one who would abstract next is not who we think it is, On what we know right now Abstracting happens when someone is under high stress and pressure, but what if that isnt entirely the case, what if someone abstracts when they become too much of an outlier from the main group, for example Kaufmo (with all we know right now) was a jokester someone who was funny, but with him finding an exit he strayed away from his set personality type, causing him to abstract, or in kingers wives case, Kinger says something along the lines of "the worst thing you can do to somebody is to make them feel unwanted and unloved" Kingers Wife was most likely as weird or even weirder than Kinger, and the only thing keeping her from abstracting being Kinger himself, and when Kinger says this it suggests he made his wife feel left out and unloved and or unwanted by him, making her an outlier in the cast, which causes her to abstract. Now Jax on the other hand is mean and rude, that makes him an outlier aswell but not so much as to abstract, but with all these actions the characters will stray further away from him as he keeps doing this, making him the biggest outlier.
My Theory is that Jax is actually an employee of C&A. And is the one who coded a back door to it in order to control everything because of his personality type. However Cain happened. And it backfired.
In the pilot episode where Jax pushes Gangle and Kinger into the "zooble hole" maybe. Jet maybe he was trying to protect them from kaufmo without worrying them about how kaufmo is. Also when he paired up Gangle an kinger. I probably did that cause their both mentally unstable and he had a feeling kaufmo would be abstracted. That's why he was not drowning or scared when seeing kaufmo. He was expecting it
what if Jax is actually helping like with pomni when she looks stressed and Jax says something it pulls her away from that thing that she is stressing over
Ive seen theories that claim Jax was a child Soldier based on his reactions to explosions and on the way he took the binoculars from gangle in Ep2. This fits in to the “deserves to be in the circus the most” aspect in 2 ways: 1. He commited war crimes during his time in war. 2. Based on a comment I saw, the circus could be a “”reward”” for Jax since he spent his formative years being bossed around and exposed to war, losing his child and teen hood. It’s an interesting theory.
Nah Jax was bullied in real life and is self hating. He is now able to bully others as others bullied him. And he uses the excuse as "it's not real" to cover for him. Him being "normal" in the latest episode is him feeling being trapped back in his own life. Cus it was a real life scenario, he finds it harder to say " it's not real" cus it feels like his old life, and wasn't able to stand up to authority. Jax is not a nice character. Is there good in him. Yes. But that doesn't make him a good/ nice character. And he genuinely didn't mean to crack gangles mask. That's just it. Indifferent. Some times a red room is just red.
I know i might be wrong but didn't anybody else catch that pomni and jax had the same reaction to Gangles trauma, jax saying "oh boy" and pomni saying "I guess we're having another one of these, also Jax didn't interrupt Gangle while she was going off
When Jax was exiting the parking lot, the number on his license plate said 001. What if the reason he is so nihilistic and pretends that he doesn’t care about the rest of the circus members is because he was actually the first person in the circus, and he has seen dozens of other people abstract by now? I don’t remember if we were ever told who was first, I know Kinger was before Ragatha, but do we know the arrival time of anyone else? this could explain why he doesn’t want to bond with anybody, and why at Kofmo‘s funeral he was so annoyed, because this has happened to him so many times before. Idk, just an idea.
Since Jax’s episode is only 2 episodes away,I’m actually hoping he’ll have a emotion breakdown or something and Pomni or someone else might help to call him down and he’ll be a bit better from then on.Also,Caine going all glitchy is something that sounds really cool as a finale setup!
Maybe Jax and Gangle worked at the same fastfood place. And Gangle keept making Jax miserable over things he did'nt do. And now he wants to actually do the things he was accused for and make Gangle miserable by literally breaking her happy mask
I was feeling weirded out by Jax in the early episodes' snippets that you've shown until I realized that I was weirded out because Jax had his pupils shrunk due to stress and exhaustion during the new episode, while in the other episodes, they're very dilated and hardly shrink.
A thought hit when you mentioned the scene where Pomni could envision herself being saved from falling into the cellar thanks to everyone except Jax reaching out. What if, at some point in the future, Pomni actually does have the risk of falling down there by accident and Jax is the one that actually manages to save her? I have no idea how realistic this could be for his character, but it's one of those 2AM thoughts that just hit my brain. Just a little "what if", ya know? I mean, maybe he really does know where to draw the line.
Did anyone realize that when there was a suggestion from the suggestion box that said “let’s just have an adventure when Jax can’t talk the entire time” after he said “genuinely hurtful” his big smile toned down and his eyebrows sank, like he actually got sad from that suggestion.
My interpretation of jax so far is that hes someone with terrible coping skills that rely on hurting others and creating chaos to give himself a feeling of control and distract himself from thinking about his issues. I expect him to end up as a cautionary tale as his behavior will inevitably isolate him from the rest of the group and leave him alone against abstraction. Overall, i dont think hes a vilain, but he is the kind of person that try to drag other downs with them when things get difficult.
Truthfully for me, this episode feels like a full debunking of “jax is a ai” Jax showed more than just his prankster side due to how the workplace was I don’t have many ways to explain it so I’ll just say my points 1: gooseworxs answer to the question “who Deserves to be in the circus most”, I could be misinterpreting it but I feel like that signifys him joining the circus the normal way 2: episode 2. Caine stated that he upgraded the ai, hence the gummigoo stuff.. but guess what Jax has been the same the entire time, also since the ai wasn’t as good before episode 2, we could of probably guessed that the circus cast would’ve found out about him being ai 3: adding onto 2, we saw the upgrade first hand with gloink queen, going from a basic worm to telling Pomni about full gloink reproduction! You could say the same happened with jax, a basic prankster getting depth a couple episodes later. But I refuse that, at the beginning of the episode, we literally see jax being sorry for hurting gangle, not just his prankster side I explained that poorly, but before even jax going through employee reevaluation he had more than just his prankster side Sorry If it’s hard to understand , I do believe the Caine and Abel company is prob still involved somehow, but I’d rather think of Abel being his own character, and I’d think it may be like the cain and Abel story, with Caine doing to Abel
I’d argue the only reason Jax wasn’t his usual mean self in this episode has far less to do with being humbled, but was a fear response. This is the only episode that someone had power over him and had a real threat of punishment for acting out. He wasn’t being nice, he conformed out of fear of reprisal.
i think there’s a chance he chose to be there, knowing the risks? perhaps he just really really wanted to escape real life, maybe “deserves to be there” in this context is genuinely, he deserves this life instead of a human one?
You mentioning kids misbehaving because they're blamed for things anyways reminded me of a theory I have- We've been told that Jax is the youngest one there, but it also seems like he's been there for a while. Makes you wonder if he was an actual kid when he entered the circus.
The digital circus is such an insane environment, I imagine back in reality, in a normal world, Jax would be much more civil although still with a malicious side.
I believe Jax is mean and cruel because he really doesn’t believe anything he does causes harm Making him a shallow bully not an evil villain Like the bully who accidentally killed someone, then goes “I didn’t mean it!”
That's actually a really good point
Hold up, that makes a lot of sense.
"Jax is the most deserving to be trapped in the circus"
That actually makes sense with this-
Do you think jax parallels Alice in wonderland symbolism?
You mean low blow?

But yeah, hes definitely an "a-hole" but not an evil one.
it has been confirmed that he's human
He’s a jerk, and he’s a human.
But that does leave out one; How does Jax acknowledges the audience in through episodes 1-3, mean while everyone else doesn't acknowledges.
Although also adding onto this I think not attending the funeral could be something as not wanting to appear vulnerable
let's add that he is a literal bunny! A prey, Gosseworx has said that each character design is a reflexion of their insecurities and personalities so It would make sense that Jax hates being seen as a prey while looking like prey
Following that thought maybe he becomes smaller when he is holding his breath, and that's why he doesn't want to show it
One thing I noticed during the episode that may come back later is Caine’s realization that he can add negative reinforcement to his adventures as motivation to complete them.
The consequences in question:
*B+ for doing a terrible job*
@@Sin-Nombre04 That's because he actually did his job he cleaned the bathroom, filled the ice cream machine. The only thing that got him down was his disrespectful behavior at the start.
Oh god, Caine’s gonna go on a villain arc by this logic
@@rickbill06 the whole joke about giving motivation is that even if they did a bad job, Caine would at most just give him a F, the punishment and reward was just simply that score they got at the end, so Caine wasn't really going to do anything to them even if they did nothing
@@Sin-Nombre04 Even if that is true Jax did the same amount or even more than Zooble.
You can tell Jax’s likes pomni and zooble a little bit more than others he’s more cordial with them and not nearly as hard on them they’re the only ones you see him have actual conversations with
Edit: and I’ve noticed at the end of every episode.
@Alix_303 Indeed, we just need to get about Kaufmo too.
He threw Pomni out of a car.
@ I said more cordial he does way worse to everyone else
I will say, something I havent seen ANYONE talking about is that Caine listened! He used the suggestion box and was receptive to feedback and hell, he was even there when Gangle called for him. Caine is… improving? Its small, but maybe his talk with Zooble actually helped a bit.
I hope we see Caine agree to more suggestions .
Caine still forced zooble to go on the adventure. With an extremely horrible consequence.
I think that's more for the gag though. I doubt it'll come back as a plot point
"That doesn't mean he's evil through-and-through, however."
*Cuts to a scene where he's just shoved Ragatha in a deep-fryer*

“Im trans”
“Oh my bad- HEY DUMBASS!”
True
Nxnxnxnnx I love this 🤩
I like to think he was more of a debugger as opposed to an active coder.
@@Micah-NOT-TOAST I agree with all of you ^^
@@Okeana_Aster Exactly! You explained it way better than me!
Jax is one of the best depictions of chaotic neutral I've ever seen.

@DarkKingRico I'd say so
Jax honors pronouns, which is more than what some people I know irl are willing to do. He literally lives in a videogame, and none of this is real. He's having the time of his menace life. He may not realize he's hurting people's feelings bc he is someone who often runs from his. I'm really interested in seeing what makes him tick.
Everyone thinks if “deserves” then he did something bad and this is his punishment
But no one thinks that the game is actually a reward for Jax where he is free to do everything because life wasn’t fair to him
Edit 1:
Plus, it will explain why he likes when people are suffering, because it’s a simple protective reaction from him. Maybe he was bullied so became a bully himself
I think that you're right
Wow that's actually a good theory
That's a really good theory.
Especially of how he is honest produce Chaos
He likely dosent have any traumatic or past experiences and is just acting like this because of the fact he’s trapped in the circus
I’m pretty sure he was a teen when he entered the circus
I now believe that Jax was a hacker who worked at an office job at C&A and most likely tried to get himself fired but instead was sent into the circus
yeah that makes sense
I feel like Jax and Ragatha have a connection outside of the circus for some reason. Especially with how he knew that centipedes were ragatha’s fear.
Maybe, but you also have to take into account that they would've had many adventures together. It's possible that centipedes came up in one of them. But it is an interesting theory. I can't wait to see more about the character dynamics!
Siblings theory enters the room (I don't think it's true but it's interesting)
That was about her literal limbs, not about her sexuality. no one in the circus has sexual urges, only romantic.

As a person who was expected to do bad things...and as a person who masks...Jax and Gangle are REALLY RELATABLE :'>
Jax dropping the jerk attitude to ask Pomni how she was doing was such a nice moment.😊 Hopefully there will be more moments like that in the future, even if it is fun to watch him be a jerk.😅
I’d be really funny if the “Unforgivable thing” that Jax is supposed to do is just something silly like violating an unwritten rule or norm rather than making someone abstract.😅
Jax is just a troubled guy who has walls built up to keep himself "safe" it's a very common thing that a lot of people do. I understand how he feels and views things.
I honestly really love Jax, he's so complex and honest and in a world like the digital circus it's just a bit more "simple"
When he just talked to pomni and not making fun of her or messing with her you know he wanted a real friend
He dosent want a real friend he wants control and power
And also distractions away from the situation happening currently
I sort of see some sort of a depressed-masking class clown in jax, who continuously bothers others without ever doing any long-term psychologycal damage to anyone, so as to distract himself from the situation and somewhat elevate his own position, to make others not see him as someone who ever is vulnerable.
Jax is the definition of "What are your pronouns? *Im gonna talk shit about you later but I wanna make sure im doing it right."*
When Jax says “genuinely hurtful” his face goes sad for a split second

I think Jax and Gangle are a good example, considering the dynamics in episode 4 🤔
I think you might be onto something considering that the number on Jax' license plate - 1138 might be a reference to a movie called THX 1138 and plot of this movie coincidentally reminds me of some things from this episode and digital circus and what we know about Jax and his episode
Woah that’s a really interesting take! Maybe something traumatic happened to Jax when he was in the real world?
@@av3_ren I mean it's possible, but in the experiment I've mentioned, a group of volounteers was assigned randomly to a role of guard or a prisoner.

If I'm not mistaken, the author wrote that Jax will say the following phrase in the future: "I want you to die.".........
Another thing to point out is in episode 4 when jax says the suggestion where he can’t talk was genuinely hurtful you can see him frown and look actually upset for a minute before gangle talks, as he seemed to actually take it to heart my theory is that he’s just trying to be friendly or be likeable but instead he became a jerk (that used to happen to me and it was mental torture so that’s why it’s my leading theory)
I want to give him hugs :(
I'm sure the chocolate monster thinks Jax has a good side
Jax is going to have a 'Little boy who cried wolf' kind of storyline, he's gonna (mostly) be rude, antagonistic, selfish and generally apathetic and then when he inevitably hits rock bottom no one is going to trust him enough to extend him the kindness he denied them.
oo angst love it

WHY IS NO BODY TALKING AVOUT THE “they/them jax” THAT THUMBNAIL IS SO RANDOM???
he deserves to be there because he made the place. His latest attempt to keep his subjects alive was to be a jerk, eliciting responses, being a foil for them to bounce off. They're all paralyzed or otherwise broken people Jax is trying to keep alive in his machine.
Alright buddy lay down the meth.
I saw the thumbnail and my dumb self thought he was saying his pronouns were “they/them” and I was so confused 😭
The fact that he doesn’t misgender Zooble reminds me of the meme with the bully respecting other students’ pronouns while bullying them
4:44 to be fair you can’t blame jax for running away, if anything it’s kinda on pomni and ragatha for Not running away immediately like him
So we can have a characters who constantly puts his circus mate through hell
But god forbid he steps out of line when it comes to zooble
Fun fact: the voice actors for Ajax and Zooble are actually dating IRL.
Someone who knows what is on Jax’s employee badge it says “I don’t care”
That’s what I’ve been thinking.
ohh that sounds believable somewhat
1:27 he actually didn’t mean to. When he hits the ball he looks up, expecting it to go up instead of flying at gangle.
He was expecting it
0:58 Zooble actually uses any pronouns, so it’s kind of impossible NOT to respect them
Who care

I have a idea: what if Jax actually bully's the rest of the cast because he hates people in general?
Relatable.
Man everyone be hating on jax but I still love my pookie
I had promised myself that i wasnt going to simp for Jax but after this ep... God what have i become
Respecting someone’s pronouns isn’t a good act, it’s basic human decency.
It’s not a privilege, it’s a right.
To me he felt like a hyper active child that the board and have no real outlet so they act out, but when he's was tired he was mellow out
what if Jax is actually helping like with pomni when she looks stressed and Jax says something it pulls her away from that thing that she is stressing over
I like how this show is able to give other characters the spotlight despite Pomni essentially being the main character and primary center
Ive seen theories that claim Jax was a child Soldier based on his reactions to explosions and on the way he took the binoculars from gangle in Ep2. This fits in to the “deserves to be in the circus the most” aspect in 2 ways:
Aw but i kinda like him
I know i might be wrong but didn't anybody else catch that pomni and jax had the same reaction to Gangles trauma, jax saying "oh boy" and pomni saying "I guess we're having another one of these, also Jax didn't interrupt Gangle while she was going off
When Jax was exiting the parking lot, the number on his license plate said 001.
Kinda make sense because out of everyone we know that Jax does know the Circus better.
It's already confirmed he came after ragatha he's the third
@@NorbertoBorrego where did they say that? Not that I don’t believe you, I just don’t remember it in an episode.
@@Blue-mp5mh Because he’s clever. And kinger and ragatha was there before him
Hello! i hope you see the comment, SO on the part where jax says "genuinely hurtful" a few seconds after he opens his eyes he looks down kinda sadly
Since Jax’s episode is only 2 episodes away,I’m actually hoping he’ll have a emotion breakdown or something and Pomni or someone else might help to call him down and he’ll be a bit better from then on.Also,Caine going all glitchy is something that sounds really cool as a finale setup!
Wrong, gooseworx is planning to make him do awful things later on and eventually something unforgivable
Oh…Well,Thanks I guess for telling me!Saves me from learning it in the show🥲
I like Jax. And I do think underneath this rude cruel behaviour he has a nicer side to him, the _"I'm on it... Later Pomni"_ is an example
Maybe Jax and Gangle worked at the same fastfood place. And Gangle keept making Jax miserable over things he did'nt do. And now he wants to actually do the things he was accused for and make Gangle miserable by literally breaking her happy mask
No, that's because they're based on Poppe and Kedamono, that's why Jax breaks and annoys Ganggle more than anyone else.
I really don’t wanna see Jax be a bad guy
Truthfully for me, this episode feels like a full debunking of “jax is a ai”
Jax showed more than just his prankster side due to how the workplace was
I don’t have many ways to explain it so I’ll just say my points
1: gooseworxs answer to the question “who Deserves to be in the circus most”, I could be misinterpreting it but I feel like that signifys him joining the circus the normal way
2: episode 2. Caine stated that he upgraded the ai, hence the gummigoo stuff.. but guess what
Jax has been the same the entire time, also since the ai wasn’t as good before episode 2, we could of probably guessed that the circus cast would’ve found out about him being ai
3: adding onto 2, we saw the upgrade first hand with gloink queen, going from a basic worm to telling Pomni about full gloink reproduction! You could say the same happened with jax, a basic prankster getting depth a couple episodes later. But I refuse that, at the beginning of the episode, we literally see jax being sorry for hurting gangle, not just his prankster side
I explained that poorly, but before even jax going through employee reevaluation he had more than just his prankster side
Sorry If it’s hard to understand , I do believe the Caine and Abel company is prob still involved somehow, but I’d rather think of Abel being his own character, and I’d think it may be like the cain and Abel story, with Caine doing to Abel
The thumbnail caught me so off guard
I’d argue the only reason Jax wasn’t his usual mean self in this episode has far less to do with being humbled, but was a fear response. This is the only episode that someone had power over him and had a real threat of punishment for acting out. He wasn’t being nice, he conformed out of fear of reprisal.
jax reminds me of "what are your pronouns? I'd like to insult you respectfully"
i think there’s a chance he chose to be there, knowing the risks? perhaps he just really really wanted to escape real life, maybe “deserves to be there” in this context is genuinely, he deserves this life instead of a human one?
You mentioning kids misbehaving because they're blamed for things anyways reminded me of a theory I have- We've been told that Jax is the youngest one there, but it also seems like he's been there for a while. Makes you wonder if he was an actual kid when he entered the circus.
the thumbnail is so trippy
I'm sorry but the thumbnail is fucking hilarious
The digital circus is such an insane environment, I imagine back in reality, in a normal world, Jax would be much more civil although still with a malicious side.
i’m losing my shit at the thumbnail😭
jax our biggest ally
I believe Jax is mean and cruel because he really doesn’t believe anything he does causes harm
Making him a shallow bully not an evil villain
Like the bully who accidentally killed someone, then goes “I didn’t mean it!”
